Background / History

Early cultivation and rivalry

Ling Qingzhu became the Nine Heavens Taiqing Palace’s Young Palace Master after receiving instruction in the Supreme Induction Art. Her master considered her the disciple most likely to comprehend the technique fully 5.

She met Xiang Yun through an earlier sect exchange. Their repeated contests followed a standing agreement: the loser would grant the winner one request, provided it did not violate their own convictions. Although Xiang Yun usually won, Ling Qingzhu remained determined to surpass him 3 4 13.

Ancient Tomb Mansion

At the Tianyan Mountain Range, Ling Qingzhu and Xiang Yun agreed to compete over who obtained the greatest opportunity inside the Ancient Tomb Mansion. They jointly broke its entrance seal, after which she used her formation knowledge to move ahead through the fire array 3 4.

Her haste to refine the Nirvana Heart exposed her to its yin and yang Origin Energy. Overwhelmed and unable to obtain pure-yang pills, she returned to Xiang Yun and used the request he owed her to ask for help. Their encounter became intimate; afterward, she reached Half-Step Nirvana and discovered that her Supreme Induction Art had become markedly clearer 4 5.

Xiang Yun attributed the improvement to the Dao affinity of his Innate Dao Embryo. He then transmitted his revised understanding of the Supreme Induction Art directly to her. Before they separated, he promised to propose marriage once he reached the Death Profound Realm, when he believed he could withstand interference from the Yuan Sect 5 6 14.

Return to Taiqing Palace

Yi Taiqing initially believed Ling Qingzhu’s relationship with Xiang Yun had ruined her prospects of mastering the Supreme Induction Art, whose inherited instructions required chastity and freedom from romantic attachment. Ling Qingzhu demonstrated that the art remained intact and shared Xiang Yun’s revision. Yi Taiqing tested it herself and found its formerly vague sensations much clearer 13 14.

Yi Taiqing ordered Ling Qingzhu to remain in the palace and cultivate until the next sect exchange. Three-sect exchange

Ling Qingzhu accompanied Yi Taiqing to the exchange hosted by the Dao Sect. Despite her title, she had not yet established enough authority to silence all the Taiqing Palace disciples during a dispute over lodging. Xiang Yun resolved it by yielding the preferred halls to her sect 46.

During the visit, repeated cultivation sessions with Xiang Yun deepened her Supreme Induction Art and brought her close to Four Yuan Nirvana. He advised her to postpone the breakthrough and study the Desolation Art before attempting to comprehend the Great Desolation Scripture 50 61.

In the exchange’s Three Yuan-and-below division, she defeated Ying Huanhuan in two moves and then defeated Ying Xiaoxiao. The Primordial Hall disciples enthusiastically supported her, while members of her own sect also cheered after her victory over Ying Xiaoxiao 65 67 68 69.

Great Desolation Tablet and departure

Ling Qingzhu entered the Great Desolation Tablet’s comprehension session alongside Xiang Yun and the selected disciples. She and Ying Huanhuan both comprehended the Great Desolation Scripture, then competed by spreading desolation across the surrounding ground until Xiang Yun stopped them 78 81.

Ling Qingzhu ordinarily maintains a composed, distant public manner. Years of practicing the Supreme Induction Art allow her to disregard offensive attention without becoming angry. She also questions Xiang Yun’s reliance on intimidation and rejects his claim that every problem can be solved with sufficiently powerful fists 3 49.

Beneath that restraint, she is proud and intensely competitive. Her determination to defeat Xiang Yun led her both to risk backlash from the Azure Sky Lotus and to refine the Nirvana Heart too hastily. She is also willing to outmaneuver a stronger opponent, using her formation knowledge to leave him behind during their tomb competition 3 4.

With Xiang Yun, her reserve gives way to affection, embarrassment, jealousy, and candid complaints. She feels able to stop acting like an untouchable fairy around him, openly discusses her difficulties within the palace, and worries for him during his dangerous Nirvana breakthrough 48 49 59 60.
