As he spoke, the Light Sovereign Bryan closed his eyes, and the Sovereign Artifact spear in his hand stopped attacking.
Immediately afterward, a dazzling white light burst from Bryan's body. His closed eyes snapped open, and the phantom of a huge, almost lifelike vertical eye materialized behind him.
The giant eye gazed in the direction of the Fate Sovereign Norman. A blinding golden beam suddenly shot from its black pupil and entered the space between Norman's eyebrows.
As the light entered his body, Norman froze instantly, as though a binding spell had been cast on him.
After releasing the golden light, Bryan pressed on without pause. The spear in his hand darted forward like a dragon, thrusting straight at the space between Norman's eyebrows.
The sharp spearhead glinted coldly, carrying a piercing pressure that seemed capable of penetrating anything.
Boom!
Just as the spearhead was about to pierce his brow, Norman suddenly broke free of the golden light's hold.
Uttering a strange syllable, Norman thrust the bizarre saber in his hand forward, driving its tip into Bryan's chest.
After Norman uttered that strange syllable, the tip of Bryan's spear, which should have pierced Norman between the eyebrows, instead shifted downward and stabbed into his shoulder.
A burst of intense light erupted from the spearhead and churned inside Norman's shoulder, blasting it to pieces in an instant.
His severed arm broke away from Norman's torso and, eroded by the Spatial Turbulence, instantly turned into a cloud of bloody mist that was swallowed by the surging currents.
The moment his attack landed, Bryan turned into a streak of light without lingering and put distance between himself and Norman. At the same time, he called out, "Norman, this battle is a draw. We'll fight again in a hundred thousand years."
Bryan's attack had left Norman in bad shape, but Norman's final slash had clearly inflicted considerable damage on Bryan as well.
With the battle over, Bryan said nothing more. He immediately turned into a streak of light and fled toward the Celestial Realm.
The Light Sovereign had retreated in defeat, but the Fate Sovereign Norman was clearly in no better condition. His face was deathly pale, and the only arm he had left trembled slightly as it gripped his saber.
Norman's aura was weak. Clearly, breaking free of Bryan's restraining move and shifting the spear thrust at his head had taken a heavy toll on him.
Standing beside his brothers and sisters, Redding carefully contemplated the way Norman had fought. The Fate Element's fighting methods were exceedingly mysterious. Norman's defensive method, for example, used fate to distribute the attacks he received across his own future.
That way, he would suffer the present attack again at multiple points in the future.
Strange as this method of splitting up attacks was, it also had severe limitations.
Otherwise, the Light Sovereign Bryan's attacks would not have injured the Fate Sovereign Norman when they struck him.
Norman had driven Bryan back and won, but he was in poor condition too. His aura was faint, and he looked as though he might fall at any moment.
After greeting the Sovereign-level experts, Norman led the Sovereigns under his command back toward the Celestial Realm.
It was unclear whether he was returning to the Celestial Realm to heal or going after the Light Sovereign Bryan.
The two Sovereigns departed one after the other, but none of the Sovereigns present left to pursue either of them.
It was not that these Sovereigns were particularly virtuous. Rather, in a battle between Sovereigns of the same rank, killing one's opponent was extremely difficult unless one had the additional advantage of greater Might of the Will or gathered several Sovereigns of the same rank to join in the kill.
Even Tristan, who was generally acknowledged as the weakest among the Sovereigns, was not targeted by any Sovereign-level expert.
The Light and Fate Sovereigns both appeared gravely wounded and in terrible condition, but one excelled in speed and also had the golden light emitted from that vertical eye.
The other, relying on the mysterious power of the Edict of Fate, was also extremely skilled at staying alive.
Unless two Sovereigns were willing to join forces to kill one of them, letting him escape would bring endless retaliation.
Most of the Sovereign-level experts present had no Divine Clones, and the few who did were incompatible with both Light and Fate Sovereign Sparks.
No Sovereign-level expert would be willing to take such a risk for a Sovereign Spark he could not refine.
Bryan and Norman left one after the other, and an intense battle ended with a whimper after a thunderous start.
With the two Sovereign-level experts of the Celestial Realm gone, the Sovereigns from the Celestial Realm also departed in its direction.
In the Spatial Turbulence, the Sovereign of Death turned her gaze to Vivian and Leijia. "Shall we go too?"
Vivian nodded, while Leijia said to the Sovereign of Death, "Big sister, you go on ahead. There's a friend I need to meet."
As he spoke, Leijia turned his gaze toward Uhtred.
As for the Sovereigns of the Four Divine Beasts' lineage, Redding had already led them into the Water Divine Plane along with the other Sovereigns. From there, they had used the teleportation array in the plane to travel to the Infernal Realm.
As Redding departed, Leijia did not so much as glance at the Sovereigns of the Four Divine Beasts' lineage. It was as though the two sides were strangers, leaving the surrounding Sovereigns unable to spot anything unusual.
The Sovereign of Death raised an eyebrow and asked Leijia, "Shall I have Vivian go with you?"
Although many Sovereign-level experts had already returned to their respective Overgod Planes, plenty of Sovereigns and Sovereigns remained in the Spatial Turbulence.
In the eyes of the Sovereign of Death and Vivian, it was far from safe for Leijia to remain alone in the Spatial Turbulence.
Before Vivian could speak, Leijia refused. "Big sister, don't underestimate me. Although I haven't refined a High-level Sovereign Spark, if I focused solely on escaping, an ordinary Sovereign wouldn't be able to catch me."
Both of Leijia's Sovereign Clones had refined Midgod Sparks, and on top of that, he had Redding's share of Might of the Will.
The Might of the Will of Leijia's Sovereign Clones was already close to that of a weak Sovereign like Tristan. If both Sovereign Clones attacked at once, they might even be able to catch a Sovereign off guard and kill him.
But unless he was absolutely certain, Leijia would not have both Sovereign Clones attack at the same time.
Back then, Leijia had obtained only one Heaven and Earth Wonder that could conceal a soul's aura. Over the years, both Leijia and Redding had searched, but neither had found another such wonder.
Once both Sovereign Clones attacked at the same time, their soul auras would be revealed, inevitably exposing the fact that Redding and Leijia were the same person.
Therefore, unless the situation was dire or he was absolutely certain, Leijia would not have both Sovereign Clones fight at the same time.
The two Sovereigns of Life and Death studied Leijia.
Leijia smiled faintly. "Don't worry. I wouldn't gamble with my own life."
Only after Leijia had assured her repeatedly did Vivian give up on going with him.
After several hundred thousand years together, Leijia and Vivian had grown far closer than they had been when they first cooperated.
And the person who had sent Leijia the transmission this time was none other than Uhtred, whom he had befriended in the Infernal Realm under the identity of Leijia.
Leijia had not expected Uhtred to send a transmission inviting him to meet.
Although Leijia and Uhtred had been somewhat friendly in the Infernal Realm, that had been several hundred thousand years ago.
After entering the Life Divine Realm, Leijia had never contacted Uhtred again.
Just now, as Leijia was preparing to leave the Spatial Turbulence, the Soul Transmission from Uhtred had left him stunned for a moment.
