"Puff"
There was another sound, the sound of a sharp blade slicing through a body.
Wendy's short sword, which was used to block the long sword, was knocked away by the Lao Si's long sword because it lacked strength. The long sword lost most of its force when it was blocked by the short sword, but it still easily slashed across Wendy's chest.
A long, narrow wound appeared on Wendy's body, running from her left waist to her right chest. Wendy groaned in pain, her face pale and contorted with agony, while her chest was stained red with blood.
Fortunately, the force of the longsword had weakened considerably, so the wound was long but not very deep. However, as if to prove his words, the Lao Si had no intention of stopping and wanted to kill Wendy in one go.
The long sword that had slashed across Wendy's chest and reached her head slashed down, aiming for her neck. Although injured, Wendy remained vigilant, constantly on guard against the long sword that had hurt her. Wendy took a step back and used the only short sword in her right hand to block the descending long sword.
"Bite"
Another collision, this time Wendy's resistance was even weaker, and the dagger flew out of her hand again.
But the long sword still slashed towards her body. Wendy hadn't learned the Tekkai and didn't dare to use her mortal body to catch the sharp blade. She could only turn around and dodge the moment the short sword was knocked away.
"Puff"
Another sound of a sharp blade slicing through a body rang out. Wendy's right shoulder was slashed open, and a spurt of blood flew far away.
Luckily, Wendy took a step back to create some distance, otherwise her entire right shoulder would have been sheared off, leaving her with only one arm.
Although Wendy was in excruciating pain, she dared not relax. Her life was hanging by a thread, so she quickly used the razor to get away from the Lao Si.
After getting away from the Lao Si, Wendy glanced hopefully in Vic's direction. She was unarmed and seriously injured; she was now a lamb to the slaughter, powerless to resist.
In Wendy's eyes, Vic was being beaten so badly by Zero that he was swaying back and forth like a rag doll. His arms and legs were being shaken and swinging erratically under each of Zero's heavy punches. He looked like he had no power to fight back and looked even worse off than Wendy herself.
Looking at Barnett and Rebecca, they were too far away to rescue her in time, which was why she looked at Vic first.
Only Vic's speed could save her, but Vic is currently being attacked and unable to escape.
Wendy looked at Frodeku again and saw Frodeku looking at her apologetically, his eyes filled with remorse and guilt. Wendy realized that no one could save her now.
At that moment, the Lao Si rushed towards her again, his long sword whistling through the air as he slashed at his own neck.
In that instant, time seemed to slow down, and Wendy's mind was filled with a multitude of images that flashed through her thoughts.
My emotions fluctuated wildly, from despair to helplessness, from helplessness to calm, from calm to madness, from madness to resentment, countless memories flashing through my mind like a revolving lantern.
"No! I'm not resigned to this! I can't fall here! What did I come to the Navy for? I haven't accomplished anything yet! I can't fall here! I can't!"
A strong sense of resentment welled up in Wendy's heart. Now, no one could help her; she could find no one to rely on; she could count on no one. Just like her previous life, she had to rely on herself to break through despair and see the light again.
Driven by intense resentment and a yearning for life, Rebecca felt as if she had entered another world, a world where time seemed to flow much slower than in the real world, yet the scene before her was exactly the same as in the real world.
The Lao Si was still rushing towards him, his long sword gleaming coldly. Lao Si face was contorted with rage and smugness. In the distance were several battlefields where battles were taking place, and figures moved through the Flower Field, some faster and some slower.
Vic was being beaten, Rebecca was beating someone, Barnett was beating someone, and inside the cabin, Ain and Konan were watching him with tears streaming down their faces. Behind them, the old woman lay motionless on the table, her breath faint.
Wendy snapped out of her daze just before the Lao Si's long knife was about to pierce her heart, and then, as the Lao Si's Lao Si carried him past her, she slapped him hard across the face.
"Slap"
At this point, Wendy already knew what state she was in; this was the world she perceived Awakening her Observation Haki.
The only difference is that I had seen all of these things with my own eyes before, so what appeared under my Observation Haki was the complete picture. Beyond that distance, I couldn't distinguish the specific things. Those things that needed to be witnessed firsthand and then collected and identified with my Observation Haki could appear as specific images under my Observation Haki.
Despite her injuries, Wendy was in high spirits. She looked at Vic again and saw Vic smile at her, even taking a moment to give her a thumbs up during a break in the beating.
Then he saw Rebecca smiling at him, a knowing smile on her face as she watched her friend's wish come true.
Continuing to read, Barnett was still engrossed in beating people, looking excited, completely unaware that he was about to be killed; it made no difference whether he was watching or not.
Next was Frodeku, Frodeku was also smiling at him. The apology and guilt in his eyes had disappeared. When he saw that he was looking at him, he pointed at Vic.
In that instant, Wendy understood what had just happened; Vic was a super actor!
He was fine just a moment ago, but when he was in mortal danger and needed rescue, he suddenly became someone who was simply getting beaten up. Rebecca was also focused on beating him up, while Barnett probably knew nothing about what was happening and was still enjoying the pleasure of torturing his enemy.
Frodeku knew everything and wanted to help her, but was stopped by that despicable actor. However, Wendy had a sweet smile on her face; it felt so good to be trusted.
Wendy walked to where she had dropped her two short swords and picked them up. She knew that after Awakening Observation Haki, she needed to solidify and stabilize it through actual combat, just as Vic had instructed Rebecca in the same way.
Therefore, Wendy also decided to use the Lao Si to strengthen her Observation Haki, making it a stable state that can be used at any time.
The Lao Si was still a bit confused, not because he had been slapped, but because he was wondering how Wendy had dodged his fatal blow.
How could he dodge attacks while covered in injuries, and even slap himself hard in the process? Was it magic? Or was he hiding his true strength all along?
This is so unscientific! The Lao Si hasn't even thought about Observation Haki yet, because he doesn't have it himself, and he's never seen anyone else Awakening in front of him.
Wendy has now Awakening her Observation Haki, but in order to master Observation Haki control, she didn't choose to kill the Lao Si directly. Now, the Lao Si has become a sparring partner.
When Wendy wields her twin swords and dodges the Lao Si's attacks, she will lightly grapple him, causing little harm but inflicting a strong sense of humiliation.
This fueled the Lao Si's anger, leading him to relentlessly chase and attack Wendy, while also allowing Wendy to gradually become more proficient in using Observation Haki.
Seeing Wendy, despite her serious injuries, now seeming to have come back to life and constantly teasing the Lao Si, Konan, who was inside the cabin, stopped crying.
Seeing the horrifying wounds on Wendy's body just now, she thought Wendy was in grave danger. But now, her biggest worry is Vic.
Vic was someone Rebecca trusted, yet she was also the one she doubted the most—didn't you see he was getting beaten up the whole time?
He was also beaten the worst when Wendy was seriously injured, so Konan wanted to see if this man, whom Ain said was the strongest, could turn the tables like Wendy.
