Background and History

Rebirth and the Ten Family’s Sacrifice

Tsubasa is a transmigrator with an adult soul and memories of a previous life. Reborn as an infant, he finds ordinary babyhood tedious and uses a remembered Daoist meditation method to investigate the energy around him 3 16.

His early cultivation subjects him to more than six years of painful tempering by water and earth Natural Energy. To his family, he appears bedridden and gravely ill. They spend three to four billion ryō seeking treatment, exhausting their wealth and falling into debt without abandoning him 7 57.

After completing his body tempering, Tsubasa discovers his extraordinary strength by wrecking the family training ground. Senju Ga teaches him to control it, and he learns the Senju Clan’s Taijutsu, swordsmanship, and throwing techniques in a single morning 6.

His six widowed aunts fear losing him to the ninja profession. He initially promises not to become a ninja, while insisting on learning enough to protect himself. Moved by their devotion and the loss of their husbands and children, he also promises to marry seven wives to continue the family branches 8 9.

Training Under Hashirama

Tsubasa enters Hashirama Senju’s household for training and promises to pursue true peace and prosperity. He chooses the Pure Yang Art despite its known vulnerability to soul attacks, then attempts Hashirama’s experimental cultivation route intended to develop Wood Release 10 14 16 17 18.

Hashirama subjects him to punishing daily sparring, while Biwako teaches him basic Ninjutsu. Tsubasa gradually incorporates those techniques into close combat and discovers that his naturally attuned water and earth meridians function far better than his forcibly opened wood meridians 21 22 23.

He also studies governance under Tobirama. Recognizing that clan grievances remain beneath Konoha’s apparent peace, he deliberately loses to Kagami Uchiha so the clans will underestimate him rather than treat him as an immediate threat 25 27 49.

Shikkotsu Forest and Commercial Work

At seven, Tsubasa signs the Shikkotsu Forest summoning contract and leaves home to cultivate there. Initially intimidated by the Katsuyu Sage’s enormous body, he eventually becomes her close companion, taking her clones herb-gathering, cooking for her, and bathing her main body with Water Release 71 74 76.

Alongside cultivation, he helps develop the family’s businesses. He constructs facilities with Earth Release and creates runic weapons for the Divine Weapon Pavilion. During later visits home, he disguises himself as Hashirama and accompanies Tian Flying Swallow to establish branches in more than a hundred cities across the Land of Fire 62 68 78.

While he prepares for Foundation Establishment, Akira Senju takes the clan-head position intended for him. Tsubasa subsequently completes his breakthrough in Shikkotsu Forest, only to discover that war has spread and members of his family have gone to the battlefield 82 97 98.

War, Bereavement, and Konoha’s Leadership

Senju Yasuhei dies protecting Akira from Sand shinobi. After reading his grandfather’s farewell letter, Tsubasa secretly attacks the Sand camp, kills Kazekage Reto with one blow, and demands the Secret Puppet Technique and ten billion ryō in compensation. He returns Yasuhei’s body to Konoha and vows to change the Shinobi World 106.

Tsubasa later challenges the handling of Senju orphans and their inherited property. He insists that the children retain ownership of their estates and receive support from the clan. When Danzo orders his arrest during the confrontation with Konoha’s leadership, Tsubasa kills him with a compressed-air punch and announces plans to remove the leaders 122.

He establishes his supremacy by defeating the Third Raikage, Ōnoki, and Shamon, extracting techniques and reparations from their villages. He also kills Sasuke Sarutobi and imposes demands on Hiruzen. Former Konoha villagers seeking readmission are required to work in the Land of Fire’s mines for ten years. By this period, he is recognized as the new God of Shinobi and is subsequently addressed as Hokage 139 141.

Sacred Grounds and Reincarnation

Seeking the Transformation Secret Technique for the Katsuyu Sage, Tsubasa forces his way into Ryūchi Cave and kills Manda. His battle with the White Snake Sage leaves him seriously injured, but he obtains both the technique and the cave’s Summoning Scroll. The technique proves unusable by Katsuyu because it is specific to snakes 177 179.

Tsubasa later oversees the reincarnation of deceased relatives and mentors, warning them that they may lose their memories permanently. The Katsuyu Sage is reborn as his daughter, Tian Yu, while the inner core left behind after her reincarnation becomes the principal ingredient in the pills used for his Golden Core breakthrough 189 193 260.

Disappearance and Return as Tenki

A devastating tribulation chars Tsubasa’s body. Although he survives, rebuilding it takes five years, during which his family searches across the Shinobi World and beyond. Tian Mai receives prophetic visions of his eventual return, a confrontation with an alien race, and possible tragedies involving Ōtsutsuki Genshō 205 227 260.

Tsubasa finally awakens beneath the ruined summit of Tribulation Lightning Mountain in an infant body. Tian Yueqing recognizes him after questioning him about private memories. Embarrassed by his condition and wanting time to assess the changed world, he initially conceals his identity and lives under the name Tenki 260 262 264.

He privately reunites with Senju Ga and later Tian Flying Swallow. His reconstructed body grows rapidly, reaching the appearance of a three-year-old within months. His eventual reunion with his seven wives and children at Yan Emperor City also reveals his guilt over having missed their upbringing 264 278 338.

Defense of the Shinobi World

Tsubasa intervenes in the battle for Iwagakure, sealing Moryo, destroying the attacking undead forces, and stopping the Hoshikage from merging with the Star 313.

When Ōtsutsuki Isshiki appears, Tsubasa frees Kaguya in exchange for her help defending the Shinobi World. She supplies information about the Ōtsutsuki Clan and its God Tree plans. He later helps Hagoromo and Hamura see their mother from a distance and agrees to care for her 366 373.

During the extraterrestrial war, he seals a regenerating God Tree ship and trains disciples to comprehend natural laws and develop their own Dao. He kills Ōtsutsuki Taku, then remains at the front as Genshō approaches. During the subsequent pursuit, Genshō uses a spacetime illusion to turn Tsubasa’s family against him; Tsubasa restrains his attacks to protect them, allowing Genshō to escape 408 446 458 465.

Insect Race Conflict

After decades of further cultivation, Tsubasa confronts the Insect Race. He expends his lifespan fighting Saint Level male insects, containing their attacks and self-destruction to prevent damage to the Shinobi World 490 515 518.

The Insect God eventually overwhelms both Tsubasa and Orochimaru. Unable to defeat it directly, they lure it across several star systems into the Ōtsutsuki Star Region, hoping the God of Ōtsutsuki will intervene. Instead, that god declares that all three intruders will die 532.

Appearance

Tsubasa’s childhood appearance is marked by long, glossy black hair, fair skin, bright eyes, and an unusually ethereal bearing 7 10.

  • Early clothing: A royal-blue brocade robe embroidered with golden auspicious beasts, white-trimmed cuffs and collar, and a jade pendant on a yellow sash 7.
  • Natural presence: Gives off an immortal-like aura and a faint fragrance noticed by his fiancées 10 70.
  • Eyes: Described as amber during his Hokage period and golden after his bodily reconstruction 141 278.
  • Reconstructed body: Returns as a rosy-faced infant closely resembling his original childhood appearance 260 262 264.
  • Later battle features: Manifests golden energy wings and bleeds golden blood. His hair turns white while he burns his lifespan against the Insect Race 518 528 532.

Personality

Tsubasa combines an adult’s perspective with a child’s outward appearance. He is courteous toward elders and deeply conscious of his family’s sacrifices. His gratitude develops into a persistent determination to protect them, repay their care, and preserve the family branches 6 9 10.

Cultivation is his overriding personal pursuit. He endures years of painful tempering and repeated defeats in training, and his absorption in cultivation contributes to the distance between him and Biwako. He seeks longevity and the Dao rather than treating Ninjutsu or political power as ends in themselves 23 54 55 57.

He is also calculating and capable of severe coercion. His staged defeat by Kagami conceals his strength, while his later reprisals include killing enemy leaders, demanding enormous reparations, and imposing mine labor on returning villagers 49 106 139.

His protective instincts remain decisive even when they create tactical weaknesses. He sends his descendants away before facing Genshō, curbs his attacks when an illusion endangers his family, and sacrifices his own lifespan to shield the Shinobi World 458 465 518.

Abilities & Skills

Perfect Sage Body

Tsubasa’s constitution grants exceptional strength, durability, and recovery through Natural Energy 6 11 22.

  • Heals bruises visibly after receiving a Jonin-strength punch from Hashirama 11.
  • Restores severe training injuries by synchronizing his breathing and body with natural power 22.
  • Repairs cellular depletion caused by Chakra extraction more completely than food alone 22.
  • Works with his Golden Core to regenerate an entirely new body after tribulation, though the process takes five years 260.
  • His later bloodline divine ability enables repeated recovery from devastating injuries, but the Insect God’s destructive divine power makes each reconstruction agonizing and threatens his soul 532.

Spiritual Qi and Mental Power

Tsubasa develops Spiritual Qi by allowing water- and earth-attribute Chakra to absorb Natural Energy. He regards it as a route to bodily evolution, soul transformation, and longevity, unlike Chakra extraction, which depletes the body’s resources 22 23.

  • Spiritual power more than doubles his Natural Energy absorption rate during his early experiments 23.
  • Strengthens Spiritual Qi through circulation and by feeding it Chakra produced through the Pure Yang Art 23.
  • Possesses spiritual energy that Hashirama initially identifies as stronger than his own 18.
  • Gains ten-li perception and the ability to move stones mentally after Foundation Establishment 97.
  • Resists Moryo’s mental attack 313.

Elemental Ninjutsu and Senjutsu

Water and earth are Tsubasa’s strongest early affinities because their meridians are naturally attuned spiritual roots. His wood meridians are artificially opened “false spiritual roots,” making early Wood Release less reliable 23.

  • Water Release: Uses water curtains to obscure vision, water dragons for offense, and fluid techniques to restrain opponents 54 408.
  • Earth Release: Produces concealed spikes, alters terrain, hardens ground into rock, and constructs buildings 54 62.
  • Wood Release: Initially favors restraint and support; later uses the Wood Dragon Technique and Sage Art: Wood Release: True Several Thousand Hands 54 112 408.
  • Additional attributes: Develops wind, lightning, fire, and metal, broadening his available techniques 57.
  • Dust Release: Uses the Detachment of the Primitive World Technique and Super Dust Release in battles against Ōtsutsuki opponents 452 454.
  • Can eventually perform low-level water and earth techniques without hand seals; this is not initially true of his Wood Release 23 57.

Taijutsu, Swordsmanship, and Clones

Tsubasa’s close-combat style combines immense physical force with the Senju emphasis on momentum 21 54.

  • Masters foundational Senju Taijutsu, swordsmanship, and throwing techniques with exceptional speed 6.
  • Develops fine enough control to send an egg dancing through the air without cracking it 54.
  • Uses the Thunder God Sword, Super Strength Technique, and Senjutsu to cut down Madara’s invisible Limbo figures 175.
  • Develops a Flying Sword Technique, directing seven small swords with Spiritual Qi 179.
  • Summons one million physical shadow clones during the defense of Iwagakure 313.

Sealing, Runes, and Craftsmanship

Tsubasa applies sealing knowledge to equipment production, combat, reincarnation, and specialized training environments 68 145 189 446.

  • Inscribes water and earth runes into weapons and armor, improving their quality and enabling Ninjutsu activation. At this stage, B-rank is the highest technique he can seal into a weapon 68.
  • Other elemental enchantments initially require Chakra Metal to avoid breaking under heavy impacts 68.
  • Forges an automatically tracking Flying Thunder God Kunai by adding a tracking rune 145.
  • Refines spiritual pills using medicinal ingredients and the Katsuyu Sage’s former inner core 193.
  • Seals Moryo inside a golden crystal underground 313.
  • Places formulas across a regenerating God Tree ship while feigning vulnerability, then binds it with Hundred Demons Sealing, transforming it into a sealed black tree 408.
  • Can analyze and weaken the nodes of the Saints’ seal on Orochimaru, but cannot safely remove it outright; its backlash injures both him and Tian Yu 503.
