Shira built his strength through Taijutsu, grew closer to Gaara, and worked to convince Sunagakure that their friendship helped rather than threatened him. After proving himself in a bandit attack, he traveled near the Land of Fire and set out to find Might Guy, ending with a shout in the woods near the Valley of the End.
Shira developed his Taijutsu and resolved to use his strength to protect others, drawing attention from Sunagakure’s leaders. After Saya’s puppet Genjutsu exposed his weakness, he began training to resist mental attacks with Chiyo and I Fūgetsu.
Shira earned his place as a Genin, joined I Fūgetsu’s squad, and helped capture missing-nin while rescuing Uzumaki Kei and Karin. After recovering from poison, he learned that Mukade might seek the Dragon Vein at Rōran and began preparing for the danger ahead.
Shira challenged Saya, discovered his chakra attributes, and joined a caravan escort mission to Konoha, where he faced his first deaths and struggled with their aftermath. In Konoha, he searched for Rock Lee and finally found him, though Lee did not recognize Shira.
Shira befriended Naruto and Rock Lee through Taijutsu training, while helping Naruto withstand Konoha’s hostility and encouraging Lee’s determination. Might Guy joined their training, and Shira’s team stayed in Konoha as the boys began a series of punishing exercises.
After returning to Sunagakure, Shira develops his Taijutsu, swordsmanship, and pressure-point skills while preparing for renewed tensions with Iwagakure. Rasa sends Baki’s force to reinforce the northern border, where Shira joins Reppu’s patrol and helps pursue an Iwagakure scout.
After a disastrous battle left Shira gravely injured, Qinglin took him to the Cavern of Echoes, where he learned to control Qi and trained for four years. He returned to Sunagakure, earned an unprecedented Jonin promotion, warned Rasa about a looming threat, and received a secretive escort mission to the Land of Snow.
Shira helped restore Koyuki’s rule in the Land of Snow, strengthened Sunagakure, and fought through the Fourth Shinobi World War. After surviving the final battle and waking from a month-long coma, he joined his companions in looking toward the rebuilding world.
