Ch. 222Free-for-all

Hatake Sakumo fought his way toward the southeastern exit while Nagato trapped him with Chibaku Tensei. Outside the Valley of the End, A, Gengetsu, and Mu battled smiling, apparently controlled ninja and powerful opponents, and had just gained brief openings against Minato and Naruto.

  • Hatake Sakumo used Hidden Mist Technique to evade Pain and destroy the Naraka Path, but Nagato stopped his escape attempt with Chibaku Tensei.
  • A, Gengetsu, and Mu encountered waves of smiling ninja from several villages and activated their battle armor to fight them.
  • A, Gengetsu, and Mu used their respective techniques to destroy enemies, but the foes' bodies unnaturally reassembled and continued attacking.
  • Minato ambushed A with Flying Thunder God attacks and Rasengan, damaging his armor, until A slowed Minato with a lightning net and struck him into the trees.
  • Naruto's Complete Tailed Beast Transformation pressured Gengetsu, while Sasuke's Susanoo forced Mu into a clash of Dust Release beams and a Susanoo arrow.
  • Gengetsu let Naruto's claws pierce his shoulder so his liquid-metal armor could coil around Naruto and trap him with a modified Water Prison Technique.

Ch. 223Chaos

Gengetsu restrained Naruto’s rampaging Nine-Tails form while Mu, Ōnoki, and A battled Sasuke and the resurrected ninja. As the blood-moon Rinnegan restored the dead and golden chains overwhelmed the battlefield, A rescued Hatake Sakumo and the fighters began retreating.

  • Gengetsu’s liquid armor crystallized into ice chains around Naruto as Mu’s Dust Release destroyed Sasuke’s Susanoo.
  • Ōnoki attacked his former teacher Mu, but A struck Ōnoki before he could finish a technique, and Minato ambushed A with a Rasengan.
  • A Rinnegan pattern appeared on the moon, and golden chains reassembled the slain ninja while Yukiko’s likeness summoned a vortex and attacked.
  • Hatake Sakumo escaped the lake, cut through the pursuing attacks, and reached A, who caught him as Ōnoki’s Dust Release leveled a cliff.
  • Gengetsu called for a retreat as Mu and Gengetsu briefly froze the golden chains, but the chains broke free and continued advancing.
