Background / History
Travels Before Godhood
Before attaining the position of Dragon God, he traveled through the myriad worlds, championing justice, repaying kindness, and settling grievances. In a distant world, he befriended Zhu Kun, an Ancient Void Dragon whose physical strength and talent impressed him. They explored together before the future Dragon God departed that planet 35.
Zhu Kun taught him about the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit, which could evolve an Ancient Void Dragon into an Ancient Void Dragon Phoenix. He also explained that his world lacked something necessary for advancement to a higher realm. These conversations later allowed the Dragon God to recognize Xiao Yan’s otherworldly bloodline 35.
The Dragon God’s Calamity
The Dragon God eventually fell into madness, devastating more than half of the Divine Dragon Realm and killing countless human and beast gods. According to Gu Yuena, his subsequent remorse led him to swear to the laws of the universe that beasts would neither become gods nor ascend to the Divine Realm unless he revived and the dragon race regained its former glory. Xiao Yan condemned this oath for making all beasts suffer for the Dragon God’s actions 35.
The Asura God fought to stop the destruction, killing numerous dragon gods who defended their maddened sovereign. After recovering his senses, the Dragon God requested that the Asura God destroy his physical body and divide him into good and evil halves. His benevolent half became the Silver Dragon King, who was allowed to escape; his negative emotions, body, and strength passed to the Golden Dragon King, who was sealed in the Divine Realm 35.
Unwilling to abandon his slain kin, the Dragon God’s remaining soul gathered their bones and remains, crossed layers of space, and established Dragon Valley. This small world became the True Dragon Clan’s final refuge and the resting place of his last inheritance 34 35.
Final Inheritance
When Xiao Yan and Gu Yuena reached his remnant soul, it appeared to have lost its intelligence. In reality, the Dragon God had preserved his consciousness by suppressing it deep within his soul and entering a prolonged slumber. Xiao Yan’s Ancient Void Dragon Phoenix bloodline awakened him, giving him a final opportunity to atone 35.
Inside Xiao Yan’s soul space, the Dragon God met both Xiao Yan and Yan Xiao. He learned that Zhu Kun was still alive and that Xiao Yan’s bloodline came from Zhu Kun’s daughter, Zi Yan. He then asked Xiao Yan to secure a future for the Soul Beast lineage, choosing him because he belonged wholly to neither humanity nor beasts and came from outside their world 35.
After Xiao Yan agreed, the Dragon God bestowed his accumulated Bloodline Power and Zhu Kun’s dragon-slaying technique upon him. He also refined Xiao Yan’s blood into the Dragon God’s Heart, making him its second master and naming him the Soul Beast lineage’s third shared ruler. His recognition of Xiao Yan later resonated through the bloodlines of the Soul Beasts 35 37.
Xiao Yan and Gu Yuena cultivated for a year within the Dragon Graveyard before receiving the Heart. Before dissipating completely, the Dragon God used his final power to lead the remaining dragon souls out of Dragon Valley, granting them peace and one last journey through the void beside their sovereign 36.
Appearance
- Remnant-soul form: An enormous dragon large enough to blot out the sky and sun, surrounded by seven-colored divine light 35.
- Dormant state: His eyes were dim and colorless despite the radiance surrounding him, making him appear mindless 35.
- Final state: His soul became progressively fainter and more insubstantial as he transferred his inheritance to Xiao Yan 35.
Personality
In his youth, the Dragon God enjoyed exploration, freedom, and acts of justice. He remembered his travels with Zhu Kun fondly and remained concerned about his old friend’s inability to overcome his world’s cultivation limits 35.
His legacy combines catastrophic wrongdoing with genuine remorse. Although his madness was unintended, his oath condemned generations of beasts to exclusion from godhood. By his final awakening, he openly acknowledged his immeasurable sins and sought survival for the beast races rather than forgiveness for himself 35.
He was affectionate toward the Silver Dragon King, regarding her as a daughter as well as his other half. He also insisted on repaying Xiao Yan’s help, offering his remaining power and inheritance in return for a chance at the Soul Beast lineage’s survival 35.
Abilities & Skills
Supreme Divine Power
At his peak, the Dragon God was a Supreme God King and the sole supreme beast god of his realm 27 36.
- Even after ages of erosion, his remnant soul retained power exceeding the experts of Douluo Star 35.
- His physical might survived through the Golden Dragon King, while the Silver Dragon King inherited elemental control 35.
- His draconic pressure did not suppress Xiao Yan’s exceptionally powerful Dragon-Phoenix Bloodline 35.
Space and Time Manipulation
The Dragon God’s surviving soul could manipulate space and time despite the destruction of his body 34 36.
- Carried the fallen dragons’ remains across layers of the void and created Dragon Valley 34 35.
- Altered the flow of time around Xiao Yan and Gu Yuena’s cultivation, allowing their year-long retreat to occur within a much shorter outside interval 36.
Soul Preservation and Communication
He retained an independent remnant soul after his physical destruction 35.
- Preserved his intelligence through deep dormancy rather than leaving it exposed to the passage of time 35.
- Entered Xiao Yan’s soul space to speak with him and Yan Xiao 35.
- Announced Xiao Yan’s appointment through a bloodline resonance reaching the Soul Beast Clan 37.
Bloodline Empowerment
His final inheritance consisted of power currents drawn from the strongest power in his being 35.
- Directed most of the currents into Xiao Yan, whose bloodline could withstand greater pressure than Gu Yuena’s 35.
- Raised Xiao Yan’s Bloodline Power to level sixty and strengthened his dragon physique 36.
- Improved Gu Yuena’s soul power, physical strength, mental power, and bloodline purity, enabling her to assume dragon form 36.
- Intended his lifetime’s Bloodline Power to elevate Xiao Yan toward the true-dragon component of a higher-plane Dragon Phoenix 35.
Dragon Slaying Sword
The Dragon God learned of this technique by witnessing Zhu Kun use it and later transmitted it to Xiao Yan 35 42.
- Originally an inheritance exclusive to the Ancient Void Dragon Clan’s Dragon Emperor line 42.
- Exerts overwhelming intimidation upon beings with dragon blood 42.
- Xiao Yan used it in his final exchange against Di Tian, which ended in a draw 42.
Dragon God Claw
A god-level power said to have been bestowed upon Di Tian by the Dragon God 42.
- Manifests seven-colored halos and a draconic presence resembling the Dragon God’s remnant soul 42.
- Can produce an enormous claw projection; Di Tian used it during his test of Xiao Yan’s strength 42.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Dragon God’s Heart — His final Super Divine Artifact, appearing as a nine-colored crystal. He made Xiao Yan its second master, granting him shared ownership with the Silver Dragon King 35 36 37.
- Golden Dragon Spear — A life-force-absorbing weapon made from one of the Dragon God’s ribs and inherited by the Golden Dragon King. Although Di Tian initially recounts competing origin stories, the Golden Dragon King later confirms its origin 38 39.
- Blood Refining Method — A forbidden cultivation method once kept strictly secret within his lineage. It tempers Bloodline Power using compatible heavenly treasures; Gu Yuena teaches it to Xiao Yan 33.
Relationships
- Zhu Kun — Close friend from his travels before godhood; the source of his knowledge of Dragon Phoenix evolution and the Dragon Slaying Sword 35 42.
- Silver Dragon King — His benevolent half, whom he also regarded as a daughter. She inherited the mission of ending the suffering he brought upon the beast races 35.
- Gu Yuena — A fragmentary incarnation of the Silver Dragon King who sought his final inheritance with Xiao Yan and received its empowerment 33 35 36.
- Golden Dragon King — His negative half, inheriting his powerful body, strength, and destructive emotions. The Golden Dragon King also carries the pain and remorse associated with the Divine Dragon Realm’s destruction 35 39.
- Xiao Yan — Chosen inheritor and entrusted protector of the Soul Beast lineage; received his Bloodline Power, technique, shared artifact ownership, and recognition as a common ruler 35.
- Asura God — Destroyed his body and divided him at his own request after the calamity; allowed his benevolent half to escape under their agreement 35 37.
- Di Tian — Recipient of the Dragon God Claw, according to its reputation among Soul Masters and Soul Beasts 42.
