Arc 16The Northern Campaign
Guan Yu’s raids weakened Great Ning’s coastal defenses while Lin Yi strengthened Xiliang and Northern Liang, whose growing power unsettled the emperor and Ning Kun. After returning to Northern Liang, Lin Yi launched a massive campaign against the Northern Barbarians and prepared a decisive assault on Wind and Snow City.
- Guan Yu captured supplies at Hanhai County, sent Zhou Dayou to arrange a ransom exchange, and returned to Great Wilderness Island with Gu Yong and Huang Gai joining his force.
- Lin Yi learned of Guan Yu’s coastal raid and Ning Kun’s violent takeover of Great Wasteland Commandery, then sent Jiang Wei to defend Youning Commandery as Ning Kun considered his next move.
- Ning Kun visited Lin Yi with Princess Qingfeng to assess Xiliang’s strength, but left after witnessing its defenses and learning that Jiang Wei had fortified the border.
- As pirate attacks spread along Great Ning’s coast, Li Anlan ordered Qin Li to mobilize against them and directed the Imperial Clan Court to eliminate the Prince of Min’s and Prince of Shu’s descendants.
- Lin Yi returned to Northern Liang, reunited with Lin Rusong, and agreed that his father would lead the rebellion against Great Ning while Lin Yi prepared to destroy the Northern Barbarians.
- After the New Year, Lin Yi mobilized five hundred thousand troops against the Northern Barbarians and ordered Xiliang into wartime readiness, while assigning the Western Regions Legion to face Great Ning.
- Lin Yi marched his army through Heavenly Pillar Peak toward South Mountain Plain, and Tuoba Wanli sent Tuoba Qingsong to reinforce Wind and Snow City after learning that Northern Liang’s scouts had vanished.
- Lin Yi ordered Zhang Liao’s Tiger and Leopard Cavalry to attack Wind and Snow City, Ma Chao to block the retreat, and Gongsun Zan’s White Horse Volunteers to strike Great Wind Valley by surprise.
