Background / History
Foundation and Lu Clan Ambitions
Lu Jin founded Thunderfire Hall through his own efforts after inheriting responsibility for the declining Lu Clan. Possessing a Middle-Grade Divine Ability Bone, he repeatedly risked his life to establish the enterprise; the injuries accumulated during those years later damaged his cultivation foundation. The hall became the Lu Clan’s livelihood and base in Qingyuan Market 2 19 44.
Its publicly taught divine abilities derive from Lu Clan inheritances that were heavily stripped down from their original forms. Lu Jin hoped to raise the hall to fourth rank, which required two Divine Ability Masters and would qualify it for the Great Luo Domain’s Hundred Hall Mystic Assembly. That opportunity could provide access to the Great Sage Fire Talisman, a technique capable of partially counteracting the Lu bloodline’s Spirit-Sealing Curse 6 11.
The hall also suffered during the dispute over Lu Qingyan and Zhong Ying’s relationship. Subordinates of Zhong Ying’s father, Zhong Taiyue, pressured Thunderfire Hall, damaged its premises, and injured people. Zhong Ying nevertheless left her family home and married Lu Qingyan, beginning a lengthy estrangement between the families 7.
Zhang Yue’s Departure
Zhang Yue’s High-Grade Divine Ability Bone made him the focus of the hall’s hopes. Lu Jin accepted him as a direct disciple and concentrated the hall’s cultivation resources on him, eventually raising him to the Dharma Rune Realm. His top-ten finish in Fengyang Prefecture’s Divine Ability Hall competition was the hall’s best result since its founding 2.
On returning, Zhang Yue announced that he would join Great Golden Crow Hall. Jiang Ling backed his departure with force and threatened to destroy Thunderfire Hall unless it accepted a fabricated account claiming that it had traded him away for resources. Lu Jin yielded to protect the hall. Zhang Yue privately regarded its resources as exhausted and encouraged Jiang Ling to obstruct its future advancement 2.
The resulting slander damaged recruitment prospects, invited ridicule from rival halls, and endangered the Qingchuan Merchant Association’s escort partnership. Lu Ming’s victory over Red Sand Hall disciple Luo An secured the continuation of that agreement 14 21 23.
Hall Meet and Expansion
Golden Gang Sword Hall’s master, Lin Changkong, supported Red Sand Hall’s attempt to strip Thunderfire Hall of second place. Lu Ming’s victory helped force Red Sand Hall’s withdrawal, after which he proposed challenging for the leading-hall seat. Thunderfire Hall ultimately won the title 31 38 42.
A hundred new disciples joined during the ensuing growth. Instructor recruitment remained difficult because former members feared Lin Changkong, who had demonstrated True Qi Master strength. Meanwhile, Lu Ming began using the Flame of Life to heal Lu Jin’s longstanding injuries, restoring the foundation on which the hall depended 44 50.
Conflict with the Peach Mountain Band
The Peach Mountain Band raided the hall’s herb garden after a planted spy sabotaged its Azure Light Restriction. The bandits stole the mature Moon Spirit Grass and threatened to return at the next harvest. Thunderfire Hall suspected Golden Gang Sword Hall’s involvement; later accounts identified Lin Changkong as a supplier of information and methods for the attacks, with Zhang Yue behind Guo Kui’s orders 52 86.
The hall recovered commercially by winning a Li Clan contract for four hundred stalks of high-quality Moon Spirit Grass. When intelligence indicated that the bandits would next attack its caravan, Lu Jin assembled trusted fighters while Lu Ming obtained Zhou Xuan’s agreement to keep Lin Changkong and Shi Tong from interfering 59 64 71.
Thunderfire Hall routed the attackers. Lu Jin gravely wounded Guo Kui, pursued him with Lu Ming, and subsequently confirmed his death. Eliminating the band brought widespread gratitude and strengthened the hall’s reputation throughout Qingyuan Market 80 86.
Black Rain Zone Expedition and Golden Gang Sword Hall’s Fall
During the Rain Weakening Period, Lu Jin led the hall’s expedition into the Black Rain Zone. Wen Liu planted Blood Bone Incense to draw Six-Armed Rain Spawn toward its camp and weaken the defenders before a planned ambush on the return journey 105 113 119.
Lu Ming’s healing Rain Pearls instead attracted treasure hunters, and the camp became a trading center that continued operating after the hall departed. On the road home, Lin Changkong attacked, only to discover that Lu Jin had become a True Qi Master. Li Yan intervened against the additional Divine Ability Master brought into the scheme 119 120 122 130.
After Lin Changkong’s death, Lu Jin led the hall in raiding Golden Gang Sword Hall and absorbing its businesses. New applicants subsequently queued outside Thunderfire Hall, including people drawn from neighboring markets 130 133 134.
Outside Pressure and Great Golden Crow Hall’s Arrival
The influx of outsiders seeking the Sacred Ruins brought renewed competition. Five outside halls formed the Five Halls Association and demanded concessions from Qingyuan Market’s remaining three third-tier halls, including payment for the outsiders’ branches. Thunderfire Hall, Red Sand Hall, and Mountain Moving Hall united in refusal. Zhong Taiyue’s arrival checked the association’s intimidation and strengthened Thunderfire Hall’s local leadership 173 174.
The larger danger remained Great Golden Crow Hall. Wu Sun and three companions eventually arrived seeking revenge for Lin Changkong’s death, having been directed to Thunderfire Hall by Zhang Yue. After Lu Jinglei was gravely wounded, Wu Sun declared that the hall would be destroyed and the Lu Clan wiped out. The provided account ends with this confrontation unresolved 184.
