Naruto grew stronger at the Academy while befriending Hinata, Shikamaru, Ino, and Choji, as the village’s treatment of the Uchiha worsened. After Danzo stole Shisui’s eye and Shisui died, Obito recruited Itachi and Danzo for a planned purge, and Naruto offered Sasuke a way to save Itachi.

• Naruto used the Combat Power Cultivation System to strengthen himself, rescued Hinata from Sukisu, and learned that Hiruzen had accepted Hizashi’s sacrifice to satisfy Kumogakure.
• Naruto entered the Academy, befriended Hinata and the Ino-Shika-Cho trio, defeated Sasuke in their sparring matches, and kept building his combat power.
• Danzo accused the Uchiha of plotting against Konoha, while Shisui warned Hiruzen that the village’s provocations were angering the clan.
• Danzo ambushed Shisui, stole one of his eyes, and pursued him until Shisui gave his remaining eye to Itachi and jumped into the Naka River.
• Itachi awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan after Shisui’s death, while Sasuke defended him from Uchiha accusations and Hiruzen confronted Danzo.
• Sasuke told Naruto what he had learned about Shisui and Itachi, and Naruto inferred that the Uchiha massacre was approaching.
• Obito revealed himself to Itachi as Madara Uchiha, threatened Sasuke, and ordered Itachi to purge the Uchiha Clan in two nights.

Naruto exposed Obito’s plot and helped the Uchiha defeat Danzo’s attempt to exterminate them, while uncovering the truth about his parents and warning the clan that danger remained. He trained Sasuke in the Railgun and used a genjutsu of the clan massacre that awakened Sasuke’s Sharingan.

• Naruto warned Itachi that Obito had manipulated him, then trapped Obito in the Amber Purifying Pot and helped the Uchiha prepare for Danzo’s attack.
• Danzo declared that he would exterminate the Uchiha, but Naruto fought him while Fugaku, Itachi, and the clan held off Root.
• Naruto and Sasuke helped expose Danzo’s stolen Sharingan, and Itachi reclaimed Shisui’s Mangekyō Sharingan before Hiruzen sentenced Danzo to execution.
• Mikoto welcomed Naruto into the Uchiha home, and Fugaku revealed that Naruto was Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki’s son.
• Danzo faked his death and returned to Root, while Fugaku and Itachi suspected the deception and Naruto warned the Uchiha to lie low and grow stronger.

Team 7 took a dangerous mission in the Land of Waves, where they faced Zabuza, Haku, Gato, and an attack by Root. After the bridge was completed and Zabuza and Haku died, Kakashi reported Root’s assault to Hiruzen, who turned his attention to Danzo.

• Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata joined Kakashi’s Team 7 and overwhelmed him during the bell test.
• Team 7 accepted Tazuna’s mission and discovered that he had concealed the danger posed by Gato and the Land of Waves.
• Naruto and Sasuke drove off Zabuza’s first attack, and Team 7 continued protecting Tazuna as they reached his home.
• Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata fought Zabuza and Haku on the bridge, with Sasuke breaking Haku’s ice-mirror trap and Naruto overpowering Zabuza.
• Shimura Agou and Root arrived, accused the Uchiha and Hyuga clans of conspiring, and tried to seize Naruto.
• Naruto fought Root, but Shimura Agou escaped after stabbing Haku, and Haku died beside Zabuza, who then killed Gato and succumbed to Naruto’s healing technique.

Naruto led Sasuke and Hinata through the Chunin Ninja Exams while confronting Orochimaru and revealing his knowledge of future threats. The exams ended in a coordinated attack on Konoha, as Naruto and his companions pursued Gaara and Fugaku questioned Naruto’s motives.

• Hiruzen Sarutobi warned Danzo to leave Naruto Uzumaki alone, then told the jonin that the Chunin Ninja Exams would proceed despite Iruka’s concerns.
• Iruka disguised himself as a Sunagakure ninja to test Team 7, but Sasuke knocked him unconscious, and Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata later met Gaara and his siblings in Konoha.
• Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata passed the entrance test and written exam, then entered the Forest of Death, where Naruto confronted Orochimaru.
• Naruto persuaded Orochimaru to help with experiments and avoid targeting Sasuke, while Sasuke and Hinata fought Kabuto and the team advanced through the exams.
• Naruto defeated Kankuro, and Hinata lost to Neji after forcing him to defend against her Railgun, and Naruto healed her and later learned that Baki was killing Gekko Hayate.
• Naruto defeated Neji in the tournament, and Sasuke fought Gaara, whose sand sphere resisted Sasuke’s Chidori before Sasuke struck it with a Rasengan.
