Background / History
Family and sect upbringing
Gu Yiyi is the daughter of Gu Yanshan, the Famous Sword Sect’s seventh elder and master of Emerald Bamboo Peak. She lives in the peak’s inner courtyard and receives protective treasures personally refined by her father 18 19 25.
Her family’s position is shaped by an old succession dispute. Gu Yanshan once competed with Gu Yanhe for the sect master’s position; Gu Yiyi later tells Qin Yi that Gu Yanhe’s schemes cost her father that position and contributed to her mother’s death. Gu Yanshan remained at the sect for his daughter’s sake but became detached from its affairs 41.
Rescue and meeting Qin Yi
During an ambush by demonic-path enemies, Gu Yiyi calls for Hua Yunfeng, only to see him prioritize rescuing Gu Qingshuang. Qin Yi then falls from the sky and crushes the giant threatening her. When another giant attacks him, she throws a stone to distract it; Hua Yunfeng arrives and kills it before leaving to help others 1.
After Qin Yi collapses into her arms, he is brought back to the Famous Sword Sect. Gu Yiyi visits him during his recovery and shows him the training ground and Dao Comprehension Stone. Once her father accepts him as a disciple, she insists that joining order makes her his senior sister, regardless of their apparent ages 1 2 4.
Sword training and changing affections
Gu Yiyi initially admires Hua Yunfeng intensely and is hurt by his closeness with Gu Qingshuang. Qin Yi’s direct confession embarrasses her, while his offer to teach Green Lotus Sword Song gradually draws her interest. His system-assisted instruction produces an unusually pleasurable sensation, helping redirect her attention from Hua Yunfeng to their lessons 4 5 6 7.
Her enthusiasm also leads to an accident: doubting Divine Stroke’s destructive power, she jumps onto the sword circle’s outer edge before Qin Yi can stop her. The technique destroys her clothing. Qin Yi lends her his robe and carries her back to Emerald Bamboo Peak, where Huang Tianrong and Nie Jianyun notice them 8 9.
She subsequently witnesses Qin Yi’s challenge for the eldest senior brother position. Although she initially warns him against fighting Huang Tianrong, she later defends him against accusations of entering the sect with prior training, explaining that his unusual sword art appeared after he touched the Dao Comprehension Stone 12 13 14.
Affection milestones
Gu Yiyi is the subject of Qin Yi’s first favorability quest. Its completion depends on becoming the person she loves most, rather than on establishing a formal engagement 1 17.
| Milestone | Development | Effect on Qin Yi |
|---|---|---|
| 80 affection | She develops romantic feelings after his victories over Huang Tianrong and appointment as eldest senior brother 15. | Confirms that his pursuit is progressing 15. |
| 90 affection | Qin Yi becomes her favorite person; her affection for Hua Yunfeng falls from 90 to 85 17. | Completes the quest to win her love. He later claims the cultivation reward and reaches Foundation Establishment 17 18. |
| 100 affection | Their relationship becomes sexually intimate during the mountain assignment 26. | Perfectly completes his first mission and unlocks the Ultimate Detection Technique 26. |
Nine Turns Mountain Range assignment
After losing a wager over whether Qin Yi can reach Foundation Establishment within ten days, Gu Yiyi obtains her father’s permission to take him on a herb-gathering assignment. She warns him about Song Xianming’s connection to Huang Tianrong and initially urges restraint to keep the mission from breaking down 17 18 19 20.
In the Nine Turns Mountain Range, she guides Qin Yi toward Thousand-Li Grass and Heavenly Maiden Bamboo, using her previous experience and a beast-hide map. They shelter overnight inside her tortoise-shell grotto-heaven 24 25.
Qin Yi secretly uses an ice technique to lower the temperature and create an excuse to hold her for warmth. Their intimacy develops that night, and the next morning she initiates holding his hand. After Qin Yi rapidly gathers the remaining herbs with his newly acquired detection technique, she reluctantly agrees to wait outside the mountain range while he continues alone 25 26 27.
Return to the sect
Gu Yiyi reunites with Qin Yi and Xu Xinran at the mountain range’s outskirts. At the Mission Pavilion, she keeps her distance from Hua Yunfeng and repeatedly checks Qin Yi’s reaction when others tease her about her former attachment. When the dispute over Qin Yi’s materials escalates, Gu Yanshan takes both her and Qin Yi back to Emerald Bamboo Peak 37 39.
Her relationship with Qin Yi remains private and has not become a formal betrothal. Although her father has suggested that he might eventually marry her to Qin Yi, she worries about him discovering their intimacy 18 40 41.
Appearance
- Build: Slender and graceful, with pale skin and large, expressive eyes 9 12.
- Family resemblance: Bears a fifty-to-sixty-percent resemblance to Gu Qingshuang 7.
- Clothing: Wears a long aqua-blue dress after the training accident and a black silk dress when departing on the herb-gathering assignment 12 19.
Personality
Gu Yiyi is lively, expressive, and easily drawn into excitement. She celebrates performing Bring in the Wine independently, makes faces at Qin Yi rather than acknowledging him as senior brother, and takes pride in her movement techniques 5 7 15.
Her romantic behavior is initially reserved. Qin Yi’s blunt confession leaves her flustered, and she maintains courteous physical boundaries even after developing strong feelings for him. As their relationship deepens, she becomes more openly affectionate but remains concerned about propriety and her father’s reaction 5 24 25 26 41.
She is cautious without insisting on submission. She first advises Qin Yi to tolerate Song Xianming because she fears he cannot win; once assured of his strength, she encourages him to fight and defend Emerald Bamboo Peak’s standing. During the mountain mission, she also accepts separation from Qin Yi when persuaded that accompanying him would hinder the task 20 27.
