"A-Xiao, you really haven't been good..."
"A-Xiao, did you kill him?"
Fu Huai, who had been called over to clean up the mess, looked unusually stunned.
"He's not dead." Gu Xiao was in a foul mood. "What, you think I'd kill him?"
After Gu Yun had dirtied his bathrobe, Gu Xiao hadn't been able to hold back the force of his kick at all and had knocked Gu Yun unconscious with a single blow.
With a constitution like that, he thought he deserved to be his blade?
He couldn't even withstand a single kick from him.
Heh, ridiculous.
"A-Xiao, you really are..." Fu Huai rubbed between his brows. "How did you end up bringing him here? According to Ji Chuan, he's been drinking himself into a stupor at T-C every day since he escaped from the sanatorium."
Gu Xiao gave Fu Huai a cold glance. "Probably because he just came of age and is old enough to drink."
Fu Huai frowned, looking at Gu Xiao in bewilderment. "A-Xiao, is this your idea of a deadpan joke?"
"No, I'm stating a fact."
Fine, then.
Although Fu Huai felt that Gu Xiao was playing dumb, he still said, "A-Xiao, I think he was waiting for you."
"Was he?" Gu Xiao said coolly. "Then why didn't Ji Chuan keep an eye on him? Was it deliberate?"
Fu Huai looked searchingly at Gu Xiao. "A-Xiao, do you have a problem with Ji Chuan just because he didn't give you a birthday present?"
"You must be joking." Gu Xiao scoffed. "Didn't he give me a present? His hug. Although I think that thing is utterly worthless, I can't exactly return it to him, can I?"
The smile vanished from Fu Huai's face.
"A-Xiao, I'd actually prefer it if you got angry."
Gu Xiao shrugged. "What's there to be angry about? Though getting bitten by Gu Yun did disgust me."
"What did you say?" Fu Huai's expression changed abruptly. "A-Xiao, what did Gu Yun do to you?"
Seeing Fu Huai like this, Gu Xiao patted his shoulder in a good mood. "Don't be so angry. I just got bitten and cursed at by a mad dog."
"Just..." Fu Huai stared straight at Gu Xiao. "A-Xiao, do you care that little?"
Gu Xiao laughed. "What's there to care about? I cursed him right back anyway. By the way, is the doctor here? Have him come downstairs."
He even cursed him back... Fu Huai's reason was on the verge of snapping.
Fu Huai took a deep breath and barely managed to calm himself. "A-Xiao, you had me bring the doctor here just to treat Gu Yun?"
"I can't let him actually die. I got bitten by a mad dog, so I need a tetanus shot." Gu Xiao smiled. "And have his head checked while we're at it."
With just a few words, Gu Xiao had scattered Fu Huai's anger.
Did A-Xiao not know, or did he not care?
If it was the latter...
Fu Huai thought expressionlessly that he would like to test exactly where A-Xiao's limits lay.
Since anyone would do, then naturally, so would he.
"I'll have the doctor come downstairs." Fu Huai held out a hand to Gu Xiao. "Your bathrobe is too dirty. Take it off and give it to me."
As he spoke, Fu Huai adjusted his glasses and looked at Gu Xiao's collarbone, his brows drawing even tighter.
Gu Xiao said, "...What are you looking at?"
"There's a little blood." Fu Huai stepped forward and reached out a finger, gently touching Gu Xiao's collarbone and wiping away the blood that hadn't quite dried.
His fingertip also accidentally brushed against that red mole.
It was very cute, and very pretty.
Fu Huai lowered his eyes and calmly took out a disinfectant wipe to clean his finger.
Then he tried to wipe Gu Xiao clean as well-
"No need." Gu Xiao took half a step back. "I'll do it myself."
He didn't like being touched.
Ji Chuan and Gu Yun alone had already left him irritated today.
"Then go ahead." Fu Huai handed Gu Xiao a wipe and asked as though nothing had happened, "So, A-Xiao, why was Gu Yun here?"
Gu Xiao glanced at Fu Huai and told him the whole story outright.
"I think you can kill him," Fu Huai said coldly. "It'd only be one dead Gu Yun. Handle it properly, and no one will find out. He ran away from the sanatorium himself anyway."
Gu Xiao scoffed. "Is this still the mature, levelheaded Young Master Fu? You think you can just kill Gu Yun because you say so? He couldn't possibly have left the sanatorium without a trace all on his own. There are probably other forces behind him."
Gu Xiao hadn't originally wanted Fu Huai to handle this. Lin An would have been more convenient.
But there were many things that would put Lin An in danger if he learned of them.
With Fu Huai, it didn't matter.
He wouldn't die, and he was very hard to kill.
"Sorry, I spoke out of turn." Fu Huai looked gloomy. "Then how should we deal with him?"
Gu Xiao said indifferently, "Send him back where he came from, and replace every last person responsible for Gu Yun's daily care."
"All right, understood." Fu Huai readily accepted Gu Xiao ordering him around and even said gently, "A-Xiao, the doctor's already waiting. Would you like to get your shot first?"
Gu Xiao nodded. "Let's go."
Gu Yun still lay limp on the floor, his consciousness scattered. He thought he heard Gu Xiao mention his name, but he couldn't grasp the point.
His consciousness gradually blurred, yet a smile curled his lips. He had hugged Gu Xiao.
He had already taken the birthday present he wanted most with his own hands.
So what if Gu Xiao didn't want his present?
It didn't matter. He would always have a way to make Gu Xiao accept it willingly.
He would be the sharpest blade in Gu Xiao's hand.
Those who dared covet Gu Xiao would be viciously stabbed clean through by him, again and again... By Gu Xiao's side, he alone was enough.
Before his consciousness faded completely, Gu Yun only had time to see Gu Xiao's bathrobe being taken off and tossed to the floor.
Night fell.
The master bedroom on the third floor.
All the housekeepers and other staff had returned to the first-floor rest area.
On the entire third floor, there were only Gu Xiao, fast asleep, and Fu Huai, watching him expressionlessly in the darkness.
He had brought the doctor tonight, so he had added something to A-Xiao's injection for the evening.
Tonight, no matter what happened, A-Xiao would not open those cold eyes of his.
"A-Xiao..." Fu Huai sighed, gently stroking his face. "You really haven't been good lately. How could you get involved with so many people? And after getting involved with them, why didn't you clean them all up?"
Naturally, Gu Xiao couldn't answer.
Fu Huai lay on his side beside Gu Xiao. That red mole stood out starkly beneath the dim night-light.
"A-Xiao, you're far too unguarded," Fu Huai said, sated. "Even with us, you need to keep your guard up."
