Background

Ji Chuan grew up with Gu Xiao and the other members of F4. His feelings for Gu Xiao were discovered during his teens, after which he stopped openly expressing them. Although Feng Ji continued joking about Gu Xiao being his first love, he did not realize that Ji Chuan still loved him 2 20 40.

Return for Gu Xiao’s Birthday

After approximately half a month away, Ji Chuan returns from an island with Feng Ji for Gu Xiao’s birthday. He immediately takes an interest in Lu Keyan, asks Gu Xiao to let him have him, and invites him to be his dance partner. Gu Xiao welcomes this development because he wants Lu Keyan to seduce Ji Chuan 9.

At the clubhouse, Ji Chuan offers to take Lu Keyan away. Gu Xiao sets a price of ten glasses of alcohol; Lu Keyan drinks them expecting to remain with Gu Xiao, only for Gu Xiao to release him to Ji Chuan instead 12.

Alliance with Lu Keyan

Outside the clubhouse, Ji Chuan confronts Lu Keyan about his interest in Gu Xiao and takes him to his dormitory. Lu Keyan reveals his SSS-rank mental power, forces Ji Chuan to kneel, and demands that he maintain the appearance of being interested in him. Ji Chuan agrees under threat 13.

Their arrangement remains insincere. After watching Gu Xiao soothe Lin Qi, Ji Chuan again accepts cooperation when Lu Keyan tells him that Fu Huai and Feng Ji have joined forces. Privately, he doubts that an outsider can surpass the closeness he and his childhood friends already share with Gu Xiao 20.

Reconciliation at T-C

Ji Chuan’s continued absence and apparent pursuit of He Shuyu anger his friends. When Feng Ji brings him to Gu Xiao at T-C, he apologizes without explaining his recent behavior. Gu Xiao allows him to apply pheromone blocker, which Ji Chuan interprets as forgiveness 22 23.

He then kicks He Shuyu away from Gu Xiao and carefully wipes Gu Xiao’s fingers. Later, he finally presents his delayed birthday gift: a hug. Guilt over Gu Yun’s Attack

Following Gu Xiao’s encounter with Gu Yun, Ji Chuan explains that Gu Yun gained access through a junior supervisor at T-C, who has since been dismissed. He accepts that his negligence helped expose Gu Xiao to danger 33.

While fetching shoes for Gu Xiao, he investigates the master bedroom and detects Fu Huai’s lingering scent. His guilt over Gu Yun is compounded by resentment toward Fu Huai’s concealed intimacy with Gu Xiao 34 40.

Bathroom Surveillance Exposed to the Reader

Ji Chuan is revealed as a hidden watcher when he activates a screen showing Gu Xiao’s bathroom. Gu Xiao senses the surveillance but does not identify him. Ji Chuan believes his miniature camera is too well concealed to be found 40.

Fu Rong’s Return

Ji Chuan brings Fu Rong’s livestream to Gu Xiao and Feng Ji’s attention. After Fu Rong publicly refuses to dissolve the engagement, Ji Chuan points out that this conflicts with the Fu family’s stated position and suggests that the family has another plan 46 47.

Later, he proposes checking surveillance to identify whoever left a newspaper about the Fu family’s possible psychiatric-hospital investment. Gu Xiao declines. Although Ji Chuan then says he intends to sleep, Gu Xiao subsequently encounters him arguing with an omega in the cafeteria 50.
