Divine Body Upgrade

Three days later, a military vehicle slowly drove into Qilin's residential complex. After Lin Ran and Qilin got in, it drove them to a military training base in Juxia City. Of course, it had now become the Super God Academy's training base, and most of the military personnel had withdrawn.

Lin Ran got out and surveyed the base. Before long, Ge Xiaolun jumped out of another vehicle that arrived afterward.

"He really does look like a loser, huh?" Lin Ran looked Ge Xiaolun over with a grin.

"Hey, man!" Ge Xiaolun greeted Lin Ran awkwardly.

"Hi, I'm Lin Ran."

"I'm Ge Xiaolun. Wait, holy shit! Isn't that the thug?" Ge Xiaolun saw Liu Chuang getting out of another vehicle and nearly had his eyes pop out of his head! What kind of Super God Academy recruited thugs, too?

"He probably has a Shenhe Super Gene, just like you."

"Oh, oh, so that's why."

Lin Ran, Qilin, and Ge Xiaolun toured the base. Along the way, they ran into Qiangwei, who was sitting on a chair reading a book. Ge Xiaolun immediately couldn't take his eyes off her, but the loser didn't dare stare continuously, only sneaking a glance now and then.

Lin Ran put his hand on Ge Xiaolun's shoulder and began analyzing his Divine River Gene. Analyzing Ge Xiaolun's Divine River Gene was much slower than analyzing Qilin's. Lin Ran estimated it would take two minutes!

Ge Xiaolun gave Lin Ran a somewhat puzzled glance, but assumed he was just overly familiar and didn't knock his hand away.

Huh? Azure Heaven, what's going on? Why didn't I upgrade?

Damn it, why didn't you say so earlier? I had my arm around him for two whole minutes for nothing!

Lin Ran let go of Ge Xiaolun with a look of disgust, then set his sights on Qiangwei and Rena.

After the dorm rooms were assigned, Lin Ran leisurely took an afternoon nap, utterly unaware that Du Kao and the others were already running themselves ragged over him. An unknown super gene had suddenly appeared, and despite using every method at their disposal, they simply couldn't read what model the super gene inside Lin Ran was.

Something else happened while Lin Ran slept: Soton was released, and then the big dope was captured by Taotie soldiers.

That evening, everyone sat in a classroom, still discussing the incident.

"They're really sending us to fight aliens?"

"Are you kidding me? Fight, my ass!"

"Exactly! I'm a gang boss, and you want me to fight aliens!"

"There are plenty of different kinds of gang bosses. At most, you're an overage delinquent." Qilin stood up and walked toward Liu Chuang. Rena stood up as well; she had been sizing Lin Ran up earlier.

"A gang boss? Doesn't that seem a little unimpressive compared to a god like me?" Seeing that Liu Chuang still dared to make passes at Qilin, Rena grabbed him by the throat and lifted him up, kicked him outside, then strolled out after him.

As she walked, a suit of black armor appeared on her. Everyone except Lin Ran and Qiangwei stared at Rena in shock.

When Rena's weapon stopped at Liu Chuang's neck, the atmosphere immediately grew tense.

Ge Xiaolun also snatched Qilin's sidearm while she was off guard and pointed it at Rena.

"I don't know if this gun can hurt you, but if you dare touch him, I'll fight you to the death!"

Qilin also racked the gun for Ge Xiaolun. Lin Ran watched the scene with a grin. It was exactly as he remembered!

"You really want to fight?"

"Try me!"

A suit of armor descended from the sky and covered Ge Xiaolun, accompanied by an enormous black sword.

"If you're going to fight, use this!"

"No, no fighting. I'll learn, I'll learn!" Ge Xiaolun fiddled with the enormous sword in his hands, fascinated.

"I-I want to fight!" Liu Chuang eyed Ge Xiaolun's armor and weapon enviously.

"You're not getting any!" Rena said haughtily, turning to leave while calling out everyone's names in a theatrically grandiose fashion.

"Hey, sis! Long-legged sis! Goddess! Goddess, don't go! Where's mine?" Liu Chuang followed behind Rena, fawning over her.

Azure Heaven, can't I absorb Rena's energy directly now?

[No. Rena voluntarily unlocked Earth's super genes back then. Absorbing her energy still requires her permission.]

Oh, so that's how it works. All right, I get it. I'll talk it over with her another day and have her be my power bank.

Lin Ran enjoyed a good night's sleep, only to be woken early the next morning because it was time to assemble for training. He was rather speechless. What the hell did he need to train for? He was using cheats!

Just as Lin Ran continued playing dead in bed, Rena kicked the door open.

"Although I don't know just who you are, since you've come to my turf, you have to follow my rules!"

"I know, but your training is useless to me. Doing it would be a waste!"

"There's nobody else here. Whisper it to me-what model is your gene? You nearly sucked me dry back then." Rena suddenly turned goofy, leaned close to Lin Ran's ear, and asked with a curious look.

"I could tell you, but you have to agree to two conditions!"

"There are conditions? Then forget it!" Rena walked toward the door, pretending not to care, but after just a few steps, she realized Lin Ran had no intention of stopping her.

"No, wait, I came to tell you to train! Get up right now!"

"I can't get up. How about this? From now on, I'll get up at nine thirty every day and join the training. How's that?"

"No, unless you tell me your gene model."

"No, unless you agree to my two conditions. Don't worry, they're both very simple."

"Let's hear them!"

"First, let me hold your hand for a while. Second, I need to absorb some energy every so often from now on."

"Damn it! Sucking me dry once was bad enough, and you want to keep doing it? No way! And that first condition-are you serious?"

"Of course."

"Then I'll agree to the first one for now! You go to training on time!"

"Your God Body has so much encryption. Why would I decode you just because I've got nothing better to do? Besides, my gene engine isn't even active yet. How could I decode you?"

With a shift of his consciousness, Lin Ran arrived in the Dark Plane where his gene system resided. A canopy abruptly appeared, densely covered in streams of mysterious code. Lin Ran immediately understood that this was the Cangtian Engine. A black sphere also floated in the air: the Super Dark Matter Computer.

"Azure Heaven, introduce the engine to me."

[Certainly. The Cangtian Gene Engine has a core computational speed of 32 frequencies, equipped with an Advanced Concept Rewriter and Power of the Void.]

"Holy shit? Power of the Void? Is that the Void I'm thinking of?"

[Yes. However, the host is advised to use the Power of the Void cautiously before upgrading to a sixth-generation divine body, as it can easily attract the prying eyes of Void creatures.]

"All right, got it."

Lin Ran opened his eyes, released Rena's hand, and headed outside.

"Hey! Where are you going? You're pretending you don't know me after you're done touching me?"

"To train. What else? Give my second condition some serious thought. After all, there's no harm to you in me getting stronger."

Lin Ran reached the training field and found everyone dressed in black. He glanced down at his own casual clothes. Nice! Very different!
