Personality

Lin Ran is playful, irreverent, and willing to abandon his dignity for convenience. He gains entry to the Ye household by pretending to be a starving kitten, introduces playing cards during an ancestral-hall punishment, and later joins Immortal Zhaoyou in eating stolen spirit birds. His flirtation is frequently intrusive: Akame repeatedly rebukes or physically pushes him away when he oversteps 2 8 12 16 22.

His confidence is tempered by exaggerated caution. He retreats when his palace infiltration is detected, considers a ninety-percent chance of escaping the Desolate Abyss insufficient, and follows the system’s warnings about dangerous karma and Void creatures 2 5 42.

He judges people increasingly by conduct rather than species or his memories of the original stories. During his travels, he spares benevolent demons and kills wicked humans. His protectiveness can nevertheless become ruthless: he kills rulers and opposing ministers to secure Tantai Jin’s throne, and violently disciplines super soldiers whose arrogance endangers ordinary troops 2 10 11 48.

Background and History

Blue Star and transmigration

Lin Ran originally lived on Blue Star, where he had loving parents and friends. After dying during a routine operation, he gained a system capable of transporting him between worlds. His first destination was Till the End of the Moon, where he chose to possess the demonic tiger associated with Fu Yu 1 6.

Although he uses his knowledge of fictional events to plan ahead, he recognizes that the people he encounters are now real and cannot be judged entirely through their original portrayals. He also remains homesick, asking the system to confirm that it arranged for his parents to win the lottery after his departure 2 6.

*Till the End of the Moon*: changing Tantai Jin’s fate

Lin Ran’s principal mission is to prevent Tantai Jin from becoming the Devil God, with additional rewards for collecting the Evil Bone and Three Devil Artifacts. Unable to infiltrate the Sheng imperial palace safely, he enters the Ye residence as Little White and eventually meets Tantai Jin through Ye Xiwu’s palace visit 1 2 3.

His attachment to Ye Xiwu changes how he handles Li Susu’s arrival. Rather than allowing Ye Xiwu to be completely replaced, he provides Heavenly Soul Liquid so their souls and memories can merge. He then guides Li Susu and Tantai Jin toward cultivation paths intended to avoid their original tragedy 6 8 9.

Lin Ran intervenes directly in both kingdoms. He orders the King of Sheng to abdicate in Xiao Lin’s favor and forbids Sheng from initiating war. In Jing, he kills Tantai Minglang and Fu Yu, silences opposing ministers, and installs Tantai Jin as ruler 9 10.

After traveling the world and collecting cultivation methods, he returns with his disciple Linglong. He supplies cultivation arts, sends Li Susu back to her original era through a spacetime passage, and sleeps for five hundred years while Tantai Jin and Linglong cultivate 11.

Devil artifacts and the Holy Heaven Sect

Upon awakening, Lin Ran retrieves the God-Slaying Crossbow from the Nether River and reunites his companions with Li Susu. During the immortal sect competition, he enters the Shangqing Divine Realm, kills Si Ying and Jing Mie despite karmic heavenly lightning, and breaks Ming Ye’s seal to recover the Marrow-Cleansing Seal 11 12 13.

The demons’ deaths prevent Di Mian’s expected escape, forcing Lin Ran to seek him out personally. Lin Ran feigns difficulty with Di Mian’s prison seal, exposes his betrayal, destroys his body and primordial spirit, and obtains the Heaven-Slaying Sword. He then annihilates the Desolate Abyss with the White Tiger Heaven-Slaughtering Claw 13.

Before leaving, he establishes the Holy Heaven Sect as a lasting legacy and entrusts it to Linglong. Settlement confirms collection of the Evil Bone and all Three Devil Artifacts, awarding 16,230,845 Origin Points. He promises to return and leaves Linglong a jade slip and a token containing his full-powered strike 13.

*Akame ga Kill!*: Divine Abyss and the anomalous energy

Because this world’s Heavenly Dao is being consumed by an unidentified energy, the system advises against possessing a human. Lin Ran instead becomes Divine Abyss, selects Akame as his wielder, devours Murasame, and accompanies Night Raid 14.

As Danger Beasts become increasingly dangerous, he helps Night Raid grow stronger through Divine Abyss and its clones. He protects Akame and Sheele from Super Danger Beasts, encourages Tatsumi to focus on protecting the living, and uses special candy to arrange a meeting with Kurome before her reunion with Akame 18 20 22 24.

Lin Ran supports Akame’s consolidation of power and the Guardian Temple. After the World-Destroying Beasts are eliminated, he connects the temple to the Heavenly Dao, enabling its Teigu users to sense emotions. He also supplies training resources, upgrades Sheele’s weapon, and proposes rewarding outstanding Teigu users with access to the Heart Visualization Diagram 26 29 30.

His investigation eventually leads to the Western Empire, whose ruler is possessed by the Source of the Anomaly. He identifies methods of killing infected tribespeople and sends the less powerful members of his party to safety before confronting the ruler with Akame. Following the invasion’s defeat, he travels the world with Akame, Sheele, and Zi Xing to check for remaining threats 35 37.

Return to the Holy Heaven Sect

After upgrading the system and unlocking intermediate permissions, Lin Ran returns to Till the End of the Moon. More than two hundred years have passed there since his departure 38.

He spends a month helping Yue Xin and Chen Chu collect treasures before openly announcing his return. He reunites with Linglong, Li Susu, and Tantai Jin; the Holy Heaven Sect recognizes him as its founding ancestor, while the Yiyue Clan remembers him as an eternal benefactor 38.

*Super God Academy*: Earth’s defense

Lin Ran enters the Super God Academy world with a newly created human body, the Cangtian Gene System, and Divine Abyss Knowledge Vault. Initially homeless and without identification, he is taken in by Qilin, earns his keep through cooking and housework, and decides to remain beside her. The system assigns him a mission to hunt five Void King Beasts 39.

After joining the academy, he activates his gene engine through contact with Rena. He attracts the attention of Angel Yan and later Karl because they cannot read his information. He also fights the injured Sun Wukong evenly before the encounter develops into mutual recognition 41 42 46.

Lin Ran maintains contact with Liang Bing without making her goals his own. He helps unseal Da Bolun but refuses to improve the Demon Gene for infecting Earth’s population. His stated priority is protecting his country, rather than loyalty to either the academy or demon camp 43 44 46.

Before the Tianhe battle, he warns Huang Lao of the approaching Taotie attack and provides dark-energy firearms and dark alloy armor. He equips Qilin with a customized weapon and computer access, later helps her reach the third-generation Judgment King Body, and supplies armor for new recruits. When Ge Xiaolun, Liu Chuang, and Zhao Xin become reckless after successive victories, he defeats them and demands self-criticisms 44 46 48.
