"No way!"
"Someone else can actually do that?"
Erika Chiba stared at Chiba Yeyou in shock.
She was incredibly curious about the freak Chiba Yeyou had mentioned.
"Is that really something a human can do?"
Mizuki Shibata murmured to herself.
"Under normal circumstances, I don't think anyone could."
Shizuku Kitayama's calm voice reached everyone's ears, but her gaze couldn't help drifting toward Chiba Yeyou. Clearly, she probably wasn't as calm inside as she appeared.
"Hey!"
"Is that really so hard?"
"Why are you all so shocked?"
Leonhart's words successfully drew everyone's attention to him, though they all looked at him as if he were an idiot.
"It involves all kinds of coordinates, the target's trajectory, and the calculations for them. In short, it's very complicated, with a great many uncontrollable variables."
Tatsuya Shiba had wanted to explain it to him, but halfway through, he noticed that Leonhart still looked utterly clueless, so he simply summed it up.
Miyuki Shiba stood silently to the side. The instant Chiba Yeyou had said those words earlier, she had thought of that miraculous scene from back then.
"The person you're looking for is right in front of you."
Chiba Yeyou raised his eyebrows at them.
"You?"
Erika Chiba looked at Chiba Yeyou skeptically.
"Believe it or don't."
Chiba Yeyou shrugged, unconcerned.
"I never imagined you were that amazing!"
Seeing Chiba Yeyou act like that, Erika Chiba knew he really could do it, and couldn't help inwardly calling him a freak.
"That's really impressive."
Honoka Mitsui sounded somewhat awed.
"You'd better not compare yourselves to him. This guy is a freak in some respects."
Miyuki Shiba suddenly said something rather unlike her.
Still, her words met with unanimous agreement from the others.
Tatsuya Shiba looked at his younger sister with some curiosity, but didn't dwell on it.
"I'm not asking you to reach the level I described just yet, but you need to improve as much as possible and keep challenging yourself. As you keep challenging yourself, just surpass who you were a moment before. Accumulate those gains little by little, and quantitative change will lead to qualitative change."
Ignoring their looks that treated him like a monster, Chiba Yeyou reminded Miyuki Shiba.
"This is my first time teaching anyone. If you can't do it, don't go around telling people I taught you. I can't afford that embarrassment."
Chiba Yeyou curled his lips as he reminded her.
"You make it sound like you're some incredible magician."
Erika Chiba smiled and patted Chiba Yeyou on the shoulder.
"Don't worry. I'll definitely work hard."
Miyuki Shiba nodded earnestly.
"By the way, what were you talking about before Erika and I came over?"
Chiba Yeyou changed the subject outright, not wanting to get tangled up in this issue any further. Who could say what would happen in the future?
"Oh, we were talking about what happened with Tatsuya in the kendo club."
"You have no idea. Tatsuya easily dealt with magic with B-rank destructive power. Although Tatsuya said its area of effect was relatively small, it was still no different from a real blade."
Only then did Leonhart remember what Tatsuya had said earlier.
"Well!"
"Even if it had been a real blade, Tatsuya could've handled it easily. There's nothing to worry about."
Erika Chiba didn't care in the slightest. After all, he had already witnessed Tatsuya's abilities, so she wasn't surprised. On the contrary, it would have been surprising if he hadn't been able to handle it easily.
"Really?"
Mizuki Shibata found it rather odd. Did Erika Chiba really know that much about Tatsuya Shiba's abilities?
It felt as though she knew even more than Miyuki did.
"Um, Chiba Yeyou, do you know about 'Gram Demolition'?"
Leonhart suddenly asked.
"Using multiple CADs simultaneously so their psion waves interfere with one another?"
Chiba Yeyou blurted out instinctively.
"Yes!"
"I didn't expect you to know about it too."
Tatsuya Shiba was somewhat surprised.
But his surprise lasted only a moment. In theory, since this phenomenon existed, perhaps more than one person could discover and use it.
"Right, I also tried using two CADs at the same time..."
"Wow!"
"You really overestimated yourself, didn't you?"
Hearing Leonhart's words, Erika Chiba mocked him mercilessly.
"First, you need to read the magic sequence of the magic the other person is activating. That requirement alone would stop a lot of people."
Chiba Yeyou spoke calmly.
"That's right. You use one CAD to deploy an activation sequence that interferes with the magic the other person is using, while the other CAD deploys an activation sequence that produces the opposite phenomenon. Then, through replication and amplification of the activation sequences, you release the psion signal waves as non-systematic magic, thereby nullifying the activation of similar magic to a certain extent."
Tatsuya Shiba explained.
"Still, although your method doesn't have any particular flaws, its range is relatively short, and the prerequisite of using magic simultaneously is itself a major drawback."
Chiba Yeyou calmly added.
"That's true."
Tatsuya Shiba nodded.
"So you can do it too?"
At Erika Chiba's words, the others couldn't help turning their gazes toward Chiba Yeyou.
"I don't use that kind of magic."
Chiba Yeyou had only said he didn't use it, not that he couldn't. The others picked up on that too.
In other words, Chiba Yeyou also had the ability to read other people's magic activation sequences.
Sure enough, he can do it too.
Tatsuya Shiba thought silently.
"Still, in that case, Tatsuya, it seems what you're worried about isn't as serious as you imagined. The requirements are just too high."
Leonhart looked at Tatsuya Shiba as he spoke.
"Yes. Being able to read and identify magic during activation is extremely rare in itself. Even the smallest magic contains thirty thousand characters, so things aren't as serious as Tatsuya fears yet."
Shizuku Kitayama nodded, agreeing with Leonhart. At the same time, her gaze kept flicking between Tatsuya Shiba and Chiba Yeyou, as though she had spotted some bromance.
"Speaking of which, Erika, what model of CAD do you use on patrol?"
Leonhart changed the subject outright. Problems involving that sort of multivariable processing weren't his forte.
Still, Leonhart was rather curious about what model of CAD this girl, who bickered with him as soon as she entered the classroom, used. Surely she didn't patrol carrying that stick of hers?
He imagined Erika Chiba darting around everywhere with a stick in her hand...
Actually, that's pretty exciting!
Leonhart couldn't help thinking.
"Here!"
Erika Chiba opened her hand, and a small black iron rod slid out of her sleeve.
"You use that?"
Leonhart couldn't help feeling some sympathy for the poor souls she taught a lesson.
Swish!
Erika Chiba flicked it, and the remaining sections inside the small iron rod instantly extended fully.
"I'm starting to feel sorry for the students you teach a lesson..."
