Void-powered flight 297 Forms wings of light from Void Power and flies away from the Jade Chamber.

Personality

Lumine is loyal to her companions and reluctant to accept explanations that appear to excuse their mistreatment. Her concern for Venti and the Knights of Favonius drives her investigation of Jiang Xiaofeng's Mondstadt, even when Venti says that relinquishing power was his own choice. She prefers investigating conditions herself rather than relying solely on Amber's account 157 161 164.

That determination can become recklessness. She challenges Jiang Xiaofeng despite repeated warnings and charges the Hollow Knight after The Collector has already rescued her from one of its attacks. However, she can exercise restraint: during her first meeting with Spider Woman, she recognizes that an immediate confrontation would be unwise 156 166 171 172.

Her attachment to Aether conflicts with her concern for Teyvat. She condemns his Black Tide invasion but continues trying to save him afterward. When Jiang Xiaofeng offers to exchange Aether's life for Paimon, she falls into despair rather than accepting, then resolves to risk her own life to rescue her brother 233 241 242 243.

She also has a teasing, practical side. She jokes at Paimon's expense, cooks for them both, and later deliberately acts intimidating toward Ningguang to discourage further attempts to involve her in political schemes 19 169 297.

Abilities & Skills

Elemental Manipulation

  • Restoration of former power: Lumine describes touching the Statues of the Seven as unlocking her former power rather than simply obtaining elemental resonance 164.
  • Multiple elements: She can use Anemo, Geo, and Electro, including combinations within the same exchange 86 176.
  • Elemental combinations: Against Teppei, she disperses fragmented Geo with Electro-infused Palm Vortices, producing an explosion that strikes his lightning snake 176.

Anemo

  • Palm Vortex: Blocks attacks and breaks incoming Electro spears; can be combined with other elements 86 176.
  • Tornadoes: Uses wind to obstruct an opponent's vision and reposition during combat 86 89.
  • Mobility: Uses Anemo to float out of her damaged prison cell 161.
  • Limitations: Childe calls her Anemo weak, and she later judges its principal strength to be the impact of an exploding wind vortex 86 297.

Geo

  • Starfell Sword: Summons large Geo constructs for attacks, elevation, and escape; uses one to break open her cell 86 126 161.
  • Crystal formations: Creates spikes and layered barriers to attack enemies or intercept incoming strikes 89 176.
  • Basic healing: Applies Geo to an Electro-inflicted wound during the Golden House battle 86.

Electro

  • Electro sword: Forms a giant sword of Electro above the Blood Sword 172.
  • Thunderclap Drumbeat: Draws on surrounding Electro to form three taiko drums behind herself 176.
  • Thunder Shuriken: Sends masses of Electro projectiles from her sword's edge 176.

Void Power

  • Element-like manifestations: Produces black versions of hurricanes, Starfell Swords, and lightning, while recognizing that the underlying energy is not Elemental Power 164.
  • Perception: During the Void Eye's fusion with her power, witnesses Jiang Xiaofeng testing a black hole capable of swallowing a planet 164.
  • Spatial control and flight: Seals an area with Void Power and later creates wings of light 243 297.
  • Locating Jiang Xiaofeng: Uses her connection to find him 270.
  • Akasha resistance: Her existing Void Power prevents the corrupted Akasha Terminals from controlling her 269.

Swordsmanship & Battle Tactics

  • Technical skill: Defeats Teppei without Elemental Power before he receives his later enhancements 136.
  • Adaptive fighting: Uses elemental distractions and a rear attack to land a sword thrust on Jiang Xiaofeng, though the injury does not stop him 89.
  • Endurance tactics: Defeats Teppei's Thunder Serpent Armament by outlasting its time limit 179.
  • Demonstrated strength: Dismantles a Ruin Grader to demonstrate her abilities to Albedo, Albeless, and The Collector 171.
  • Limits: Remains badly outmatched by Jiang Xiaofeng and is fatally struck by the Hollow Knight before completing her Electro attack 89 172.

Travel & Domestic Skills

  • Teleport Waypoints: Uses unlocked Waypoints to travel between regions, including returning directly from Inazuma to Mondstadt 155.
  • Gliding: Escapes over Mondstadt's wall with a Wind Glider 161.
  • Cooking: Prepares steaks, Fisherman's Toast, and Teyvat Fried Eggs 169.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Dull Blade — Her frequently used sword. Jiang Xiaofeng devours one until only its hilt remains; she later appears with a Dull Blade again 85 89 136.
  • Blood Sword — Crimson sword given to her by Jiang Xiaofeng. She uses it to bring down the original Jade Chamber, fight Teppei, and channel Electro techniques 49 89 172 176.
  • Void Eye — An inferior version obtained from the king's statue in Mondstadt; fuses directly with her internal power rather than remaining a separate accessory 164.
  • Serenitea Pot — Portable dwelling obtained with an adeptus's guidance in Liyue. Provides living quarters for Lumine and Paimon and contains a Waypoint, although that Waypoint cannot connect to Teyvat while the pot is in the Dark Sea 157 169 233.
  • Wind Glider — Used during her escape from Mondstadt 161.
  • Adventurer Handbook — Used to record and submit daily commissions 45 170.
  • Snow-Tombed Starsilver — Received during her exploration of the Snow Mountain Ruins 212.
  • Ancient snowy-kingdom artifacts — Keeps and equips five resonating artifacts, including Echo of Broken Rime, Snowswept Memory, and Icebreaker's Resolve. These replace or accompany her earlier Brave's Crown and Inteyvat ornament 212.

History

Mondstadt and the Search for Aether

Lumine first encounters Jiang Xiaofeng after he deals with Stormterror's poisoned blood. He tells her that Aether is alive but does not yet want to meet her, instead wishing her to spend time living in Teyvat. She and Paimon continue toward Mondstadt and meet Amber 19.

She joins Venti, Jean, and Diluc at Stormterror's ruins, where Jiang Xiaofeng directs them to undo the seals. By the subsequent confrontation involving Jiang Xiaofeng, she holds the title of Honorary Knight. Although she wants to help him because of his possible connection to the Abyss, her unrecovered strength and Jean's intervention keep her from acting 22 23 26.

While staying in Mondstadt, Lumine supports herself and Paimon through commissions and wilderness exploration. Before she leaves for Liyue, Jiang Xiaofeng declines to accompany them and gives her the Blood Sword 45 49.

The Golden House and Osial

Zhongli sends Lumine to retrieve Rex Lapis's Exuvia for the Rite of Parting. At the Golden House, she discovers unconscious guards and interrupts a fight between Childe and Jiang Xiaofeng. Childe then attacks her while seeking the Geo Gnosis, prompting her to use both Anemo and Geo 85 86.

During the ensuing crisis, she fights Jiang Xiaofeng in his Pure Vessel appearance. Despite landing a hit, she loses her Dull Blade and is thrown onto the Jade Chamber. At Ningguang's request, she drives the Blood Sword into the chamber and sends it crashing into Osial 87 89.

A week later, she finds Jiang Xiaofeng absorbing energy from the Geo Gnosis at the Northland Bank. Zhongli mediates their confrontation, and she leaves after Jiang Xiaofeng warns her not to treat his past assistance as permission to question him without restraint 89 90.

Inazuma

Lumine participates in the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual, receiving guidance from Mikoshi Chiyo. At Mt. Yougou, Jiang Xiaofeng intervenes against the Miasmic Tumor and knocks Lumine from her Starfell Sword when she charges him. Afterward, she realizes that nobody has explained the ritual's purpose and decides to seek records at the Kamisato Estate 125 126.

She also supports the Resistance, defeats the initially unenhanced Teppei in a sparring match, and reaches the Tatarasuna battlefield ahead of the main reinforcements. Later, she challenges La Signora to a Duel Before the Throne. Jiang Xiaofeng intervenes during the duel; the Raiden Shogun delivers La Signora's killing blow and formally recognizes Lumine's victory 136 146.

Opposition to Mondstadt's New King

After the Vision Hunt Decree ends, Beidou delivers Jean's delayed warning that Mondstadt has changed hands. Lumine returns to find transformed streets, unfamiliar patrols, and the Knights of Favonius replaced by the Void Knights under Grand Master Spider Woman 155 156.

Unconvinced by the city's apparent prosperity, she questions residents, Venti, Jean, and Diluc. Jean reports her statements to the guards, leading to her imprisonment. Lumine breaks out with Starfell Sword and escapes toward the Dawn Winery, where Diluc explains why he has accepted Jiang Xiaofeng's rule 157 161 163.

She accepts a Void Eye from the king's statue and quickly learns to use its power, even while seeking help to restore the former Mondstadt. Her direct challenge fails when Jiang Xiaofeng threatens her. He later subjects her to an illusion depicting the suffering of an alternate Lumine; she retreats in distress and cannot clearly remember the experience the following morning 164 165 166 168 169.

Dragonspine, Tatarasuna, and Liyue

Lumine becomes involved with Albedo and The Collector's work on Dragonspine. During the Hollow Knight incident, she is fatally struck through the chest, then awakens alive on a chair in Mondstadt's plaza 170 171 172.

Returning to Tatarasuna with Xavier, she clashes with the empowered Teppei over the Coral Army's intentions. She outlasts his transformation, and they agree that Teppei will not occupy Tatarasuna while Lumine will leave the Mikage Furnace to the Shogunate 175 176 179.

Back in Liyue, she meets Shenhe and helps gather materials for Ningguang's new Jade Chamber alongside Shenhe and Yun Jin. Later, after exploring the snowy mountain ruins, she reunites with Dainsleif in the Chasm and learns that Aether was badly weakened in their battle 206 207 212.

The Black Tide and Aether's Fate

During the Black Tide invasion, Aether has two Abyss Heralds restrain Lumine in the Dark Sea. He reveals that he sacrificed the Abyss for power and intends to take her to other worlds after Teyvat falls. Lumine condemns the destruction and insists that Paimon is their companion 233.

After the invasion fails, she tries to negotiate Aether's release from Jiang Xiaofeng. He instead threatens consequences for both siblings and offers to exchange Aether for Paimon. Lumine cannot accept that bargain and prepares to risk her life, receiving one final offer of help from Venti 234 241 242 243.

Jiang Xiaofeng redirects her into the Void Sea, where she finds Aether imprisoned, then erases her memories of having a brother. Her remaining travel memories are preserved, but her purpose becomes exploring Teyvat and eventually seeking the Heavenly Principles. Aether is subsequently killed without her knowledge, and Paimon agrees not to mention him 244 245.

Sumeru and the Journey Toward Fontaine

Lumine later joins the group confronting Sumeru's corrupted Akasha. Her Void Power protects her from its control. When she subsequently locates Jiang Xiaofeng, he accidentally kills her, reverses her time to restore her, and sends her and Paimon to the Knights of Favonius' confinement room 269 270.

She spends more than a year exploring Sumeru, encountering the Aranara and Jeht's family. By her later return to Liyue, she is seeking reliable information about Fontaine. Ningguang's offer of news about her brother elicits a firm denial that she has one, prompting Ningguang to investigate her condition 284 297.

Relationships

  • Paimon — Traveling companion and closest everyday support. Paimon comforts her after Jiang Xiaofeng's intimidation and promises to remain beside her. Lumine refuses to surrender her in exchange for Aether, though she struggles painfully with the choice 169 242 243 297.
  • Aether — Elder brother and original reason for traveling through Teyvat. She opposes his attack on the world but continues trying to rescue him. After her memories are altered, she no longer recognizes that she has a brother 233 241 245 297.
  • Jiang Xiaofeng — An early source of information and the giver of her Blood Sword, later her principal intimidator and the person responsible for rewriting her memories. Even before that alteration, she is uncertain whether to call him a friend 19 49 168 206 244.
  • Amber — Trusted Mondstadt friend who guides her through the transformed city, welcomes her into her home, and later spends a night catching up with her 155 156 157 245.
  • Venti — A companion whose treatment helps motivate her opposition to Jiang Xiaofeng. He ultimately offers covert assistance with rescuing Aether, while warning that nobody can defeat Jiang Xiaofeng 164 243.
  • Jean — Former superior in the Knights of Favonius. Sends the warning that brings Lumine back to Mondstadt, but later reports her to the new authorities after being brainwashed 155 161.
  • Diluc — Someone Lumine trusts to explain Mondstadt's transformation. He instead describes his reasons for accepting the new ruler, including Crepus's resurrection 161 163.
  • Dainsleif — Contact in her search for Aether; informs her of her brother's weakened condition after their battle in the Abyss 212.
  • Teppei — Resistance ally who becomes a formidable opponent after obtaining new power. Their later battle ends in a negotiated compromise over Tatarasuna 136 140 176 179.
  • Childe — Golden House opponent whom she later acknowledges as a friend despite his obsession with fighting 85 86 206.
  • Ningguang — Collaborator in both the destruction and rebuilding of the Jade Chamber. Their later dealings become strained when Lumine rejects her political overtures and denies having a brother 89 206 207 297.
  • Abyss Lumine — A distinct counterpart from another timeline, not this world's Traveler. Jiang Xiaofeng uses an illusion of her captivity to frighten Lumine; other characters also mistake the counterpart for the local Lumine 149 168 227 267.
