"Hey! Someone's coming."
Pu Sang looked into the distance and squinted to make out the person approaching.
"He's a fan of Brother Nuo!"
" Jiang Nuo! God Nuo!!"
Qianqian saw them too, and became even more agitated. She lifted her skirt and ran over, her face flushed red. She clutched her skirt tightly with both hands, and kept choking back tears as she tried to speak.
Jiang Nuo suddenly reached out and gently tapped Qianqian's forehead. "Don't rush, speak slowly."
Qianqian's previously confused eyes cleared considerably, as if she had just woken from a dream. She nodded and said, "It's Shuishui!"
" Shuishui... Shuishui, she..."
"She woke up today, but her aunt dragged her back to her hometown, forcing her to perform a 'lucky charm' ceremony for her son who has lost both legs!"
[Damn it!!! Those feudal remnants!]
Why bother with wedding ceremonies these days? Are you crazy?!
[What's the difference between this and stepping into the gates of Shuishui again...?]
"A marriage to bring good luck?!"
Pu Sang gasped in shock, about to lash out in anger, when he suddenly realized what he'd said, his eyes wide as he grabbed Qianqian, "What did you just say? Your son with a broken leg."
She nodded Qianqian, confused. "What should I do... how can I save her?"
Pu Sang slowly turned to look at Jiang Nuo, " The Guiding Souls reached the second person, who lost both legs and became a monster."
It can't be that much of a coincidence...
Pu Sang licked his dry lips, suddenly feeling a burning sensation in his throat.
They've already found two. If this second one was also bitten by a zombie, then it means... she's not far off either.
Jiang Nuo slung her backpack over her shoulder, gripping the straps with both hands, and said, "Lead the way!"
--
"You damned little beast, you think you can escape!"
You could hear a woman screaming from inside the house from a great distance; it was shrill and fierce, and you could also faintly hear the sound of wooden planks hitting someone.
" Shuishui!"
Qianqian broke down again, covering her mouth, and quickly ran after them.
"Stop hitting! Stop hitting!"
She called out Qianqian, pushing aside the villagers who were watching the commotion. When she saw Shuishui, she couldn't stop her tears.
It was fine this morning, and now, in such a short time, there's not a single patch of healthy flesh left on my arm.
Jiang Nuo and the others stood in front of Shuishui. The aunt recognized them as people who had come to catch zombies, and her attitude softened a bit, but her tone remained harsh.
"You're from another village, don't interfere in our village's affairs."
Jiang Nuo let out a soft "Oh," and pouted, "We're not aliens, why are we being so formal?"
Aunt: "Are you crazy?!"
"Ugh!!"
Shuishui struggled frantically, her hands already bleeding from the hemp rope. After Qianqian untying the rope, she opened her mouth and made a few "ah ah" sounds.
But anyone with eyes can see that this is a plea for help.
Some villagers advised, " Master Jiang, you shouldn't get involved in this kind of thing. This girl is their relative and neighbor; they were betrothed a long time ago."
"Yes, Master, Shui'er is going to get married anyway, why bother going to university?"
Jiang Nuo turned her head and pinpointed the person who had just spoken, recalling a chilling smile.
"You're going to die anyway, so what's the point of you staying alive?"
"I..."
"What do you mean, 'what do you mean?' If you say another word, I'll tear your mouth apart."
Jiang Nuo remained smiling, her index finger pressed to her lips, her eyes sweeping over everyone.
Many villagers had come to watch the spectacle, but it immediately quieted down.
[So awesome!!! I didn't follow the wrong person, waaaaaah!]
[Although, no other meaning intended, just a saying suddenly came to mind: "Bad people come from poor and remote areas.":)]
Jiang Nuo was very satisfied with their cooperation. "Brother Wu Chou, please clear the area."
"Um."
Wu Chou clasped his fists together and stood at the entrance, calmly observing everyone.
"Let's go, let's stop looking. We still need them to catch the zombies."
The crowd quickly dispersed.
Seeing that there was no one to help, the aunt could only quietly run into the yard with a mortar and pestle in her arms.
Leaving Wu Chou outside to protect the two girls, Jiang Nuo and the other two climbed over the wall into the courtyard, intending to go see the so-called son with a broken leg.
If their conjecture is verified, they might be able to prevent the appearance of the sixth Guiding Souls and, incidentally, find clues about the zombies.
Before I even saw her, I was drawn to what my aunt was fiddling with.
Jiang Nuo sniffed lightly, then pinched her nose, which had suffered greatly during this period, with one hand.
"The thing in this bowl, the mysterious room, and the medicine the strange old woman gave you all taste the same."
Si Yan: " Gu Poison."
The three of them circled around behind the aunt, and Jiang Nuo swung the red rope, binding her up amidst her screams, and pressed a dagger against her shoulder.
Jiang Nuo made a silencing gesture. "Behave yourself if you don't want to die."
The aunt's first instinct wasn't to protect her neck, but to try and grab the food from the bowl.
Jiang Nuo moved her hand, scratching her aunt's skin, but her smile remained obedient.
"I told you to behave, is your aunt hard of hearing?"
You... robbers!
Si Yan picked up the bowl and discovered that it not only tasted the same as the medicine his grandmother had given him, but it was also the same color.
"What's this medicine for?" he asked his aunt, his voice icy. "Why do you say it can make someone fall in love with themselves?"
The aunt hesitated and refused to speak, and Jiang Nuo immediately cut open another line of blood. The cold blade pierced her skin, and the feeling was truly unpleasant.
"I... I... I said... Oh my!"
Pu Sang shook his head and sighed, "They won't shed a tear until they see the coffin."
That wound looks painful.
My aunt was feeling unwell all over, and she kept groaning as she explained.
"It's... it's the Gu we use here, called ' Heaven and Earth Connected '."
Si Yan: "Function."
"Oh... its effect is just what you said, it can make the person afflicted by the curse fall in love with the method of casting the curse."
Pu Sang exclaimed in surprise, "That's amazing! You can just pour it into this bowl a few times and it works?!"
This is more shocking than the existence of ghosts!
No wonder Huaxia needs to control these things; if word got out, it would be disastrous.
Upon hearing someone question her family's use of witchcraft, the aunt immediately became enraged and, despite the bleeding from her wound, continued to hurl insults back.
"What do you know, you little brat!"
"This thing is difficult to make! You have to catch green locusts and earthworms together when they are mating, dry them in the sun for seven days to raise larvae, and it has to be a series of sunny days. It won't work if it rains, and it won't work if there's thunder. You also have to raise them with human flesh and heart's blood! Plus those blood spiders and venomous snakes!"
My aunt was even very proud, saying, "In our whole village, only I know how to do this!"
The Pu Sang, who had been suddenly and inexplicably yelled at, thought, "..."
Ah... wait a minute, I'm a little confused... putting aside what comes next, green locusts and earthworms mate??
Si Yan seemed to be deep in thought, then took out the unopened bamboo tube. "Someone gave me one last night."
The aunt took it, smelled it, and jumped up in fright.
"How is this possible?!"
She then became extremely terrified, nervously looking around.
"This is a Yin Gu technique only my deceased mother knew, how could I possibly have given it to you last night!"
Jiang Nuo: "Oh."
"Just a ghost encounter, nothing serious."
