The four of them ran backwards together. As Jiang Nuo ran, he summoned a zombie. The transformed red-haired zombie flew over from the mortuary outside the village entrance.
It hopped and skipped, its arms stiff, running alongside Jiang Nuo.
"I didn't tell you to come with me and stop these ghosts!"
Jiang Nuo threw a punch.
The red-haired zombie was inexplicably punched, stood frozen in place, and then hopped around to face the ghosts and spirits that were slowly sweeping towards it.
Its fur bristled like sharp needles as it leaped and crashed into the horde of ghosts.
The towering ghost bent down and glared angrily, its formless body emitting a sound like a howling storm.
Like a demon general from hell, terrifying to the core.
The red-haired zombie was thrown backward by the impact, its fur limp and drooping, its lifeless eyes suddenly widening.
As if realizing the gap between them, the red-haired zombie quickly backed down and ran away even faster than Jiang Nuo.
Jiang Nuo was so angry that she threw a stone at it.
However, during his observation, Jiang Nuo noticed that although the ghostly figure was heading towards them, it deliberately avoided a certain direction.
He used the wooden frames and houses along the street to hide as he ran in that direction, asking questions as he went.
Where does this road lead?
Si Yan: "The village's ancestral hall!"
Jiang Nuo responded and ran up the wooden frame, nimbly climbing to the roof of a certain house. From there, he looked out and saw the ancestral hall with its doors wide open.
The ghosts deliberately avoided the shrine, so there must be something inside to deal with them. In the Ghost King Illusory Realm, the Ghost King, in order to symbolize his own power, would not allow any kind of ghost to be invincible.
Now that we have a weakness, we can deal with it.
Jiang Nuo quickly came up with a solution after a moment's thought.
"Run towards the ancestral hall!"
He called out to the three people below.
The moonlight was soft and dim.
The four went to the ancestral hall together, but no one saw the coffin lid in the village chief's yard suddenly being flipped open.
After the ghosts cleared the way, the night was shrouded in mist, and ten bridal sedan chairs moved slowly forward, their red color so intense it seemed thick. Seven Guiding Souls followed behind, their steps stiff.
One person suddenly disappeared, but no one noticed.
Lin Yu, having returned to life, had already detected the Ghost King's aura.
Jiang Nuo ran to the ancestral hall, but ghosts blocked her way again. They were afraid to enter the ancestral hall, but they also tried to stop them.
But this undoubtedly strengthened Jiang Nuo's conjecture.
"I'll hold them off, you guys hurry up."
Wu Chou knew that if no one stopped them, none of the four of them would be able to enter the ancestral hall.
Jiang Nuo tossed him a small gadget from her bag. "This should be of some use."
Without refusing, he grabbed Si Yan and ran into the ancestral hall from another direction, with Pu Sang following closely behind.
Wu Chou caught the object that flew into his palm and discovered that it was something like a projector.
He pushed aside the wooden board, hid in a corner, and turned the button on it to study it carefully.
Having been shocked by the toy sword earlier, Wu Chou no longer dared to question Jiang Nuo's strange weapons.
But I really don't know how to use this.
Wu Chou figures. He grabbed the peach wood sword to support his body and led them to the other side.
At the same time, the button automatically flipped back, emitting a mechanical clicking sound.
Wu Chou looked down but was blinded by the light, and instinctively raised the projector to point it at the ghostly figure.
A few breaths of white light later, a projection that looked exactly like the ghostly figure, but was dozens of times taller and more imposing, appeared in mid-air.
All the ghostly figures and phantoms stopped moving and stared blankly upwards.
The projection lowered its eyes at that moment, its empty eye sockets exuding an imposing, intimidating aura.
The ghostly figure dared not take another step forward. Even though they suspected that this ghost did not belong to any of them, they were indeed frightened by its excessively tall size and imposing presence, and even had the illusion that it was more terrifying than the Ghost King.
"That scared me! I thought another big boss had appeared."
How come Jiang Nuo has so many strange things... What's going on here?
[Look at Wu Chou's bewildered, confused, and shocked expression, hahaha!]
[Bringing a touch of modern technology to the traditional ghosts and corpse-drivers (?)]
The three people who ran into the ancestral hall all breathed more easily, as if the stagnant ghostly energy had been relieved, their ears and eyes were clear, and their whole bodies felt relaxed.
Si Yan looked in surprise into the ancestral hall, at the murals and clay sculptures of deities on the three walls. "The deities here have spirits."
The Huaxia civilization has been passed down for thousands of years, but today its spiritual energy is scarce, and it is difficult for spirits and monsters to emerge, let alone gods with spirituality.
Perhaps it is because Fragrant Tree Village depends on the Dragon Vein for its existence that the deities worshipped there have been given a trace of spiritual energy.
It was this spiritual energy that terrified the ghostly figure.
Pu Sang scratched his head in confusion after hearing this. "There are corpse drivers and witches in Fragrant Tree Village. They should know that there are spirits in this ancestral hall. Why didn't anyone come to escape when it was massacred?"
Jiang Nuo fiddled with the red string between her fingers, tapping around the wall with her other hand. Suddenly she stopped, her tone meaningful, "Yes."
"You forgot, those corpse-driving people aren't ghosts."
Pu Sang's eyes widened. "So, when the ghostly figures massacred the village, those corpse-drivers only survived because they entered the ancestral hall?"
She walked around the ancestral hall, puzzled. " Brother Nuo, how did you figure that out? I didn't notice."
"The body," Jiang Nuo said, calmly pushing open a hidden door in the wall.
Thick dust filled the air. Si Yan covered her mouth and subconsciously backed away, only stopping at the doorway. She squinted her phoenix eyes and looked out leisurely.
"So many corpses!" Pu Sang exclaimed.
"Don't worry about that for now."
Jiang Nuo glanced at the faces of the corpses and only put them down after confirming they were just villagers; as long as they weren't theirs, it was fine.
This place is eerie; Jiang Nuo always felt that entering the illusion didn't just begin when they encountered the snake.
"Take down the statues and paintings of deities to deal with the ghosts that clear the way outside."
He can do that.
Si Yan straightened up again, leisurely put on her gloves, and began to take down the hanging painting.
The task was quite simple, Si Yan was working slowly and methodically when he suddenly heard a muttered curse in his ear.
"Depend on."
Jiang Nuo's palms were burned, and he pulled them back as if he had been electrocuted. His dark pupils narrowed slightly as he looked at the righteous and imposing statue in the painting.
Does excluding him mean you're not a good person?
" Nuonuo?" Si Yan grabbed his hand in surprise. His palm was burned and blackened, with calluses on it. "I'll take care of it, you..."
"Need not."
Jiang Nuo quickly refused, her playful gaze fixed on the statue, "I'll do it myself."
Jiang Nuo always has a set of principles and bottom lines that she cannot ignore when it comes to certain things.
Si Yan knew this all too well, yet she felt a pang of heartache as she frowned and watched him grasp the painting again.
Pu Sang had already taken it down, looking at it in surprise, then glancing down at the painting he was holding, not quite understanding what was going on.
"Why, Brother Nuo..." Before she could finish speaking, Si Yan stopped her with a look, and she immediately covered her mouth.
Then she quietly pointed outside the door, indicating that she would go first.
