Elder Aila led the elven archers to embed the final piece of natural crystal into the Rune Locking Formation at the entrance to the rift. "The array can warn of fluctuations in evil energy. Once the Evil Bone show any unusual activity, the crystal will emit a red light, and the communication talisman will automatically notify all races. We have also planted ' Evil-Awakening Flower ' outside the array; when the flowers bloom, evil will arrive, providing an early warning."
Everyone breathed a sigh of Evil Bone as they watched the rift stabilize. However, Loran gazed into the depths of the abyss, his brow furrowed. "The dome and the locking array alone aren't enough. We need to build a fortress at the rift entrance, and have warriors from various races take turns guarding it, constantly monitoring the Evil Bone's condition to prevent any unforeseen events."
"I agree!" Chief Tongchui responded immediately. "The Dwarven tribe can be responsible for building the fortress, forging the walls with a mixture of Fallen Star Iron and Holy Iron to resist the corruption of evil forces; the Holy Spring Knights can be stationed on the first floor for daily patrols; the Elven archers will guard the arrow towers and monitor the direction of the abyss; and the Water Whisperer and Druids will be responsible for maintaining the water array and plants to keep the Purification Power stable."
Liya added, "I can build a 'Vitality Pavilion' in the fortress, using branches of the Tree of Life to cultivate anti-evil plants, which will purify the air and provide healing herbs for the garrisoned warriors; a branch of the Swamp Spirit Clan's Soul-Purifying Water Station can also be set up to provide purified water for the fortress."
Over the next month, all the races of the continent worked together to build a magnificent " Watchkeep " at the entrance to the Rotting Soul Abyss Rift. The fortress walls were forged from a mixture of Fallen Star Iron and Holy Iron, gleaming with a pale golden light; at the top of the walls were twelve arrow towers, each inlaid with natural crystals and Holy Spring Crystal; at the center of the fortress was a purification tower, which housed an avatar of the Purification Core (formed by Loran using the power of the three elements), capable of continuously releasing Purification Power; at the bottom of the fortress were a water array control room and a plant cultivation room, guarded in shifts by Water Whisperer and druids.
On the day the fortress was completed, representatives from all races gathered in the fortress square. Elder White, representing the Holy Spring Temple, presented Loran with a banner inscribed with the words " Continental Watch "; Elder Aila, representing the Elf Clan, gifted a batch of rune arrows; the Chief Tongchui, representing the Dwarf Clan, presented ten steam purification cannons; and the Druid Elder planted a Purification Forest around the fortress, the trees of which could absorb evil energy, and the "purification fruit" that grew there could enhance the warriors' resistance to evil.
Loran took the flag and planted it on the flagpole atop the fortress. The flag unfurled in the wind, its pale gold, emerald green, and pale blue patterns (representing the three elemental powers of Holy Spring, Nature, and Water) gleaming brightly in the sunlight. He turned to the crowd, his voice echoing throughout the plaza. " Watchkeep is not an isolated stronghold, but a symbol of the unity of all races on the continent. From this day forward, we will stand here together to protect this land, preventing evil forces from invading again, and preventing peace from being shattered once more!"
Leiming cheers erupted in the square. Holy Spring Knights raised their spears, Elven archers fired ceremonial arrows, Dwarves struck their forging hammers, Water Whisperer sang purification songs, and the Druids' Purification Forest rustled in the wind. The Icefield Wolf lay at Loran's feet, its golden eyes fixed on the banner, its tail gently brushing the ground, as if cheering for this solemn moment.
As the sun set, golden rays bathed the fortress walls in a warm glow. Loran stood atop the fortress, gazing at the distant continent: wisps of smoke rose from the chimneys of Green Forest Town, the canopies of the Elven Forest were lush and verdant, the sounds of forging echoed faintly from the Blackstone Mountain Range, and the rivers of the Swamp Spirit Clan shimmered with light—this was the peace they had protected with their blood and courage, the fruit of unity among all races.
Snow Spirit Qilin walked to Loran's side, the ice talisman glowing softly. " Lei Lin has found the first batch of lost Qilin Clan. They will arrive at Qilin Radiance Peak tomorrow. From now on, the Qilin Clan will also send warriors to garrison the fortress."
Loran nodded, looking towards the rift. "Although the Origin Evil Bone has been suppressed, there may be other sources of evil deep within the abyss. The Watchkeep is just the beginning; we must continue exploring the abyss to completely eradicate the root of evil power and ensure eternal peace on the continent."
In the dead of night, the first patrol of Watchkeep began its duty. The armor of the Holy Spring Knights gleamed pale gold in the moonlight, the elven archers' quivers were filled with rune arrows, and the Water Whisperer's water-patterned bone whistle was ready to sound the alarm at any moment. The banner atop the fortress fluttered in the night wind, as if protecting every living being on this continent.
Deep within the rifts of the Rotting Soul Abyss, the Origin Evil Bone, enveloped by the Purification Power of the dome, had its surface black markings faded to almost invisible. Yet, in the deepest darkness of the abyss, a faint, dark light flashed by, like some unknown evil entity watching over the Watchkeep from the shadows—beneath the surface of peace, hidden dangers still lurk, but as long as all races unite as one, and as long as the Watchkeep stands firm, nothing can destroy the vitality of this continent.
The legendary tale of guardianship in " Qilin of Falling Maple " continues. This time, however, it is no longer a battle of a few, but a shared vigil of the entire continent.
