Marine Service and Capture

Since childhood, Tashigi wanted to capture criminals and recover renowned swords held by evildoers. Serving under Smoker in Loguetown, she recognized Black Blade Yoru in Uchiha Xin’s possession and understood the danger he represented. Nevertheless, she drew Shigure and stood between him and the grievously wounded Smoker, refusing to abandon her commanding officer 244 245.

Xin forced her to choose between becoming his captive and watching him kill the Marines. She accepted to save Smoker and her subordinates, while privately planning to investigate Xin, escape, and recover Yoru. Smoker reported her capture to Fleet Admiral Sengoku after regaining consciousness 245.

Tashigi sought strength sufficient to govern justly on Xin’s behalf. He initially declined to spend a scarce retainer slot on her, instead giving her refined Haki cultivation methods. After learning from Perona that Xin could accelerate her growth, Tashigi requested greater power regardless of the price. Xin accepted her as an exclusive retainer and infused her with Ten-Tails Chakra. She then pledged that her blade would fight only for him 279 280.

Sky Island Leadership and Rescue Operations

Following Enel’s defeat, Tashigi and Perona subdued his remaining forces and restored order across the Island of God, Angel Island, and nearby cloud regions. They were also entrusted with guarding the Divine Palace 292.

Tashigi later organized training for hundreds of enhanced reserve warriors, directing them to study the Navy Six Powers and Haki. Once permanent flight links became available, she proposed taking one hundred warriors to Fish-Man Island to collect missing-person records, investigate slave-trading routes, and rescue captives. Duel with Hawk Eyes Mihawk

Tashigi approached Mihawk as a swordswoman eager to test herself against someone she had once admired. Her condensed sword intent revealed that she had become a top-tier Great Swordsman, and Xin required Mihawk to defeat her before challenging him 347 348.

Xin lent her Black Blade Yoru with the promise that it would become hers if she won. The weapon allowed her to unleash strength that Shigure could no longer support. Personality

Tashigi is courageous and protective even when she knows she is outmatched. Her hands shook as she confronted Xin, but she refused to retreat from the wounded Smoker. She ultimately accepted captivity to preserve the lives of the Marines rather than protect her own pride 244 245.

Her early faith in the Marines is idealistic and sometimes naive. She initially treats accusations of Marine corruption as impossible and later attempts to excuse Nezumi’s soldiers as ordinary subordinates, until Perona points out their participation in his crimes. These experiences force her to separate institutional authority from the justice she wants to uphold 246 248 250.

She is disciplined, ambitious, and unusually impatient with her own progress. Even after learning two forms of Haki within days, she considers her growth insufficient for her intended responsibilities.
