"We made it out. We escaped the building."
Wan Hao walked at the front with the ghost candle in hand. He was both shocked and delighted. He had never expected to actually survive a supernatural incident. Though the process had been dangerous, the feeling of escaping death was simply exhilarating.
It felt as though his entire being had been sublimated.
The others also wore expressions of joy at having survived.
"It seems Liu Xiaoyu and the others haven't come out yet."
After escaping, someone began to calm down and only then remembered that several rather special people had been left behind.
Wan Hao's expression changed when he heard that. He looked at the red candle in his hand, then glanced back at the building behind them.
Knowing there were still ghosts inside, he would never go back, even if it killed him.
"Liu Xiaoyu and the others will definitely be fine. They must have other ways to ensure their safety. We shouldn't worry about them. This place still isn't safe. We'd better get farther away."
Wan Hao spoke, not caring whether anyone listened. He was merely finding an excuse to slip away.
As for the candle in his hand, there was no way he would return it. It could save his life—how could he possibly hand it over so easily? If anyone asked later, he would just say it had burned out.
