Becoming a Saint in the Age of Myth
Before he could decide whether to fight or flee, the black figure arrived before him at tremendous speed.
"Oh no!"
"Pegasus Ryusei Ken!"
Without hesitation, he immediately burned his Cosmo and threw his fists once again.
In an instant, countless streaks of fist light became silver meteors, blanketing the sky as they hurtled toward Wuxin.
"It's me, Tenma!"
Wuxin hurriedly called out to identify himself.
"Senior Wuxin?"
Recognizing that familiar voice, Tenma was stunned. He wanted to stop his attack, but it was already too late.
However, there was a vast difference in their strength, and his concern was unnecessary.
Wuxin did not dodge. He merely raised his right hand unhurriedly and slapped at the meteors hurtling toward him.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A series of explosions rang out as Wuxin shattered countless meteors with his bare hand before they reached him. Not a single one landed on him.
Although Tenma himself thought that attack blanketed the sky and could not be stopped, in Wuxin's eyes, it was nothing much.
Being several times faster allowed him to shatter those meteors calmly, one after another.
Once the final meteor shattered, Tenma took a careful look at Wuxin and asked, his guard up in intense apprehension, "Senior Wuxin, why has your Cloth turned black? And why is it giving off such a powerful aura of death?"
Compared with the ghost wardens he had seen earlier, the aura around Wuxin was purer and stronger. He seemed even more like a ghost warden than they did, the very image of a Specter.
Wuxin explained with a smile, "Have you forgotten what power I'm best at using?"
"What I'm best at using is the power of death!"
As he spoke, he gently beckoned, and the surrounding death energy immediately gathered into a visible vortex.
"I used this death energy to deliberately disguise myself like this! Otherwise, those Specters and ghost wardens would never let a Saint like me wander freely through Hell!" he added, dispersing the gathered death energy.
"So that's it!"
Tenma let out a sigh of relief and lowered his guard.
Then, as though he had finally realized something, he asked in astonishment, "The Underworld's Hell is so dangerous. Did you deliberately disguise yourself and sneak in just to rescue me, Senior?"
"Yes, but that's not the whole reason!"
Wuxin nodded, then shook his head.
"Oh? Do you have another objective, Senior?" Tenma was very curious.
Wuxin was about to explain when he suddenly sensed a fairly strong Cosmo fluctuation approaching rapidly from afar, at roughly three hundred thousand times the speed of sound.
A black streak of light swept across the sky before their eyes and landed nearby.
Once the billowing dust dispersed, a man in black battle armor stepped out.
"It seems I arrived a little late!" He glanced at Wuxin and could not help frowning slightly.
He knew of no Malefic Star like Wuxin, but the pure aura of death around him could not be fake.
That could only mean he was a Specter outside the ranks of the Malefic Stars.
Especially after sensing that Wuxin's aura was not weak, he temporarily abandoned the idea of attacking and immediately said, "I am Du Pont of the Terrestrial Inferiority Star, serving under Lord Lune."
"I have been ordered by His Lordship to capture the Tenma Constellation's soul. Please hand him over to us!"
As he spoke, he cast a pointed glance at Tenma.
"Certainly!"
Wuxin nodded, quickly signaling Tenma with his eyes while secretly gathering power in his palm.
Tenma understood at once and shouted furiously, "You think the likes of you can capture me? Dream on!"
With an angry roar, he burned his Cosmo and unleashed his ultimate move at the Terrestrial Inferiority Star once again.
"Pegasus Ryusei Ken!"
Seeing the meteors hurtling toward him and filling the sky, the Terrestrial Inferiority Star could not help sneering.
"What a weak Tenma Constellation!"
"I truly don't understand why someone as weak as you would be bound to Lord Hades by fate!"
He did not dodge or even defend himself. Instead, he folded his arms and stood quietly in place, receiving the meteor barrage.
Boom!
Meteor after meteor fell, repeatedly striking the Terrestrial Inferiority Star, yet they failed to hurt him in the slightest or even force him half a step back.
But just then, Wuxin suddenly moved.
With a single step, he appeared behind the Terrestrial Inferiority Star and said quietly, "Carelessness can sometimes cost you your life!"
"Sekishiki: Demonic Blue Flames!"
He transformed the Cosmo he had gathered in his palm beforehand into pale flames, then slammed a heavy blow into the center of his opponent's back.
The Terrestrial Inferiority Star had never expected a fellow Specter to attack him and was caught completely off guard.
That single attack severely injured the Terrestrial Inferiority Star.
"Why?"
The Terrestrial Inferiority Star was overcome with grief and fury.
But before Wuxin could answer, the pale flames spread rapidly and engulfed him completely, bringing pain that pierced deep into his soul.
"Aah-!"
He screamed in agony and rolled desperately on the ground, trying to extinguish the flames on his body.
Unfortunately, it was all futile.
Within just a few breaths, the Demonic Blue Flames had burned the Terrestrial Inferiority Star into a pile of ashes.
Chapter 59: Crossing the First Prison
"That's it?" Tenma, who had expected a hard fight, was utterly stunned.
"What else were you expecting?"
Wuxin asked in return with interest.
"He... he... he was a Silver-level Specter! You dealt with him that easily, Senior?" Tenma still found it difficult to accept what he had just seen.
Wuxin explained with a smile, "My Demonic Blue Flames aren't ordinary fire. They're flames that use the soul as fuel. As long as the soul hasn't burned away, they won't go out."
"In a sense, anyone struck by this move of mine is almost certainly doomed!"
"They're that terrifying?" Tenma was completely dumbfounded.
"Then why didn't I see you use them during the contest for the Cloth, Senior?" He was thoroughly puzzled.
Not knowing whether to laugh or cry, Wuxin patted Tenma's shoulder and said, "That was a sparring match on the training grounds, not a battlefield where we were killing enemies. How could I use a killing move like that?"
"Oh, right!"
Hearing that, Tenma scratched his head awkwardly.
"All right, this isn't the place to talk. We should leave quickly! If we attract that Heavenly Heroic Star, we won't be able to get away!"
Wuxin waved his hand and added, "But before we leave, you need another disguise too!"
"Otherwise, the way you look now is far too conspicuous!"
As he spoke, he beckoned, and the surrounding death energy gathered once more, enveloping Tenma completely under his control.
Just as he had done when disguising himself, Wuxin compressed the death energy and condensed it on the surface of Tenma's soul, dyeing his afterimage-like Pegasus Cloth black.
Now Tenma's entire being gave off a sinister aura of death. His earlier fresh, sunny air was completely gone, and he looked no different from the Underworld's ghost wardens.
"All right. As long as we don't run straight into any particularly powerful Specters, no one should see through it now!" Wuxin nodded in satisfaction.
"As expected of you, Senior. This disguise method is incredible!" After examining himself again, Tenma was full of admiration.
"All right, we should go!"
Wuxin waved his hand and led Tenma away quickly, continuing deeper into the Underworld.
Along the way, Tenma could not resist asking curiously, "Senior, I remember you said earlier that you hadn't come to the Underworld just to find me. You had another objective to accomplish."
"Could you tell me what that objective is?"
Wuxin looked back at him and said seriously, "Even if you hadn't asked, I would have told you about this."
"Because only you can accomplish what we're about to do."
"And my task is to get you safely to our destination."
"Only I can accomplish it?" Tenma was deeply puzzled.
He could not quite understand what there was that the stronger Wuxin could not accomplish, yet required him to do.
"This concerns whether we win or lose this Holy War!" Wuxin's tone was grave, and he then carefully explained the matter of the Demon-Subduing Rosary and the Specters.
"So that's how it is!"
Tenma nodded, his gaze resolute. "Since only I can accomplish it, I definitely won't let everyone down! I'll do everything I can to make that divine Soapberry tree bear fruit!"
The legend of the Tenma Constellation was far too elusive. He found it hard to believe that someone as weak as himself could be of any help in the war against Hades, but now the appearance of the Soapberry showed him that he was not entirely useless.
That was something only he could do. He could finally give everyone some tangible help!
As they walked, Wuxin analyzed their situation. "Right now, the most important thing is to reach the Great Waterfall of Blood as quickly as possible, while our whereabouts remain undiscovered."
"If they keep failing to find any trace of you, the Underworld's forces will definitely expand their search area. That will put us at a serious disadvantage."
"Right, understood!" Tenma nodded and quickened his steps to follow.
Relying on his ability to sense the flow of death energy, Wuxin determined their general direction and carefully advanced while shielding Tenma. After bypassing eight ghost warden cordons, they finally reached the boundary between the First Prison and the Second Prison.
Fortunately, the Underworld's forces did not yet know that a Saint had intervened, and the search force was not particularly strong. Most of those searching were ghost wardens, with very few Specters among them.
