Background

Wuxin arrives in another world with severe gaps in his memory: he remembers information unrelated to himself but has forgotten his own identity, including his original name. He chooses “Wuxin” as a new name and resolves to recover his memories and investigate his transmigration, suspecting that the two mysteries are connected 1 10.

He retains knowledge of The Lost Canvas, giving him advance knowledge of people and events. To protect that secret, he suggests that a god may be responsible for his arrival without revealing what he knows. Neither the identity of such a god nor the cause of his memory loss is established 7 48.

His initial reason for pursuing Cosmo is survival. As an ordinary person without connections, he sees Sanctuary as his best opportunity to obtain power and avoid being killed by the aftermath of supernatural battles 2 4.

Personality

Wuxin is ambitious, analytical, and willing to revise established methods. Rather than merely enduring training, he studies its purpose and develops calligraphy exercises that work better for him than Jamir’s stone-stacking practice. He later applies the same principle of tracing and imitation to corpse qi 6 13.

He usually favors caution and practical results over bravado. He feigns unconsciousness against Red, fishes for information from the Blasphemer, and uses disguises to avoid unnecessary battles in the Underworld. His acceptance of Sanctuary’s rescue mission also reflects his concern that refusal would destroy its trust in him 18 20 40 45.

Despite his self-preserving motives, he shares combat advice, accepts instruction from weaker opponents, and protects his companions. His encounters with unknown enemies also make him increasingly aware that the story he remembers cannot account for the entire world 24 28 36 47.

• Underworld passage: Opens a route to Yomotsu Hirasaka for his mission to recover Tenma 41.
• Limits: Cannot reach Number Two while he is sheltered within shadows. Tenma breaks free once, while Number Two’s awakened power later shatters the binding outright 25 30 31.

Demonic Blue Flames and Soul Burial Wave

• Sekishiki: Demonic Blue Flames: Burns souls as fuel. Wuxin kills Du Pont with the technique and later prepares it against Elhart 43 50.
• Persistent soul attack: Once the flames catch Elhart, dividing into bats would not allow him to escape them 50.
• Sekishiki: Soul Burial Wave: Destroys Elhart’s Crimson Storm of vampire bats and leaves him badly injured 50.
• Preparation: Can accumulate energy separately in both hands, preserving one attack while preparing another 50.

• Crateris Silver Cloth — Awarded by Sasha after his victory over Baker. Silver with pale-blue trim, it covers nearly sixty percent of his body and strengthens his mental power and Cosmo 35.
  • Spiritual imprint: Records its bearer’s skills for the next owner. Only the immediately preceding bearer’s imprint survives, leaving Wuxin with Baker’s techniques rather than Suikyo’s 36 39.
  • Moonlight Holy Water: Condenses moonlight essence into water that restores stamina and powerfully heals external injuries. It cannot neutralize poison, remove curses, or dispel other negative effects 36.
  • Cloth spirit: Supports simple mental communication but cannot understand complicated exchanges 35.
