Wen Ce really did know how to play basketball. He had often played with Zhao Li and the others before.

But he really had never played with the other people in his class.

So at first, nobody bothered guarding him, and nobody passed him the ball.

Wen Ce was quite happy slacking off. Zhou Chi certainly lived up to being on the school team; he scored several baskets in a row.

But because he was good, he also had the most people guarding him.

So when the ball was tossed to Wen Ce as a last resort, Zhou Chi had actually already given up on that shot.

Only one person on the opposing team even made a token effort to run toward Wen Ce.

After all, from that distance, it would be a three-pointer...

"Bang!"

The ball went in.

Everyone on the court froze. Only Lin Fan let out a yell. "Nice one, Little Wen!"

Luo Lianqing watched Wen Ce make a light leap, the ball tracing a perfect arc into the hoop.

She heard several girls nearby saying, "Wow, Wen Ce can play basketball! And he looks so good without his glasses. Kind of pretty, even..."

She watched the boy start running across the court. He seemed to always give her something different to discover.

The first time, everyone might have thought he had gotten lucky.

But after Wen Ce sank his second and third three-pointers, more people started guarding him.

Zhou Chi gave him a thumbs-up from a distance.

The other boys in their class grew excited. With Zhou Chi and Wen Ce, they were sure to win.

By halftime, they were already twenty-five points ahead.

During the halftime break, Lin Fan asked between gasps, "Didn't you say you were just going to play casually?"

Wen Ce was panting too, but only slightly, nowhere near as dramatically as Lin Fan and the others. He took a sip of water. "Because someone said they'd treat me to a meal if we won."

After saying that, he curled his lips slightly.

Lin Fan froze. Little Wen really had something going on when he looked like that!

He was just about to ask.

Zhou Chi walked over. "Wen Ce."

Wen Ce looked at him, meeting his appraising gaze. "You're really good. Let's play together sometime!"

Zhou Chi said it with a smile.

With little expression, Wen Ce replied, "You're really good too. Let's play together when we get the chance."

Zhou Chi nodded, then leaned toward Wen Ce's ear and lowered his voice. "Playing together sometime is fine, but that senior girl? I'm going to pursue her."

The gist of that was pretty clear: he was telling Wen Ce not to interfere.

Zhou Chi had noticed Luo Lianqing smiling at Wen Ce several times earlier.

He was a playboy. He understood girls all too well.

Luo Lianqing treated Wen Ce differently.

That annoyed him a little, but he didn't exactly dislike Wen Ce, especially since he played basketball pretty well.

So Zhou Chi had come over to tell him, as a sort of heads-up, hoping Wen Ce would know how to behave.

Whether Wen Ce understood or not was unclear. He merely gave him a very strange look, then murmured an acknowledgment.

Zhou Chi: ...His being so calm made Zhou Chi look like an idiot.

Luckily, he saw Wang Meng approaching just then and changed the subject. "Give it your all out there!"

Then he left.

Watching Zhou Chi walk away, Wen Ce couldn't quite understand how someone who verbally s*xually harassed girls could think he could win one over.

Remembering the hurt look in Luo Lianqing's eyes earlier, Wen Ce felt he really needed to teach Zhou Chi a lesson.

His eyes flickered.

"Wen Ce, I had no idea you were so good at basketball. How come you never played with us before? Were we beneath you?" Wang Meng's snide voice drew quite a few people's attention.

"What the hell is wrong with you, Wang Meng?" Lin Fan said irritably. "Nobody ever invited Little Wen before."

Wen Ce looked at Wang Meng, now basically certain that he probably really had been dumped. But Wen Ce felt rather wronged in this whole affair.

"I'm not some basketball star. Why would you be beneath me? I remember wanting to play once before, but you told the others I couldn't, so I didn't go." Wen Ce's tone was indifferent. "To spare you the embarrassment."

Seeing Wen Ce's expressionless face, Wang Meng was so angry his eyes reddened.

What did Wenwen even like about him? Just his good-looking face?

The sight of Wang Meng annoyed Wen Ce. He had suffered a breakup and was biting everyone in sight like a rabid dog.

The halftime break soon came to an end.

Lin Fan and Wen Ce put down their water and ran over.

Lin Fan even glanced back at Wang Meng, who was glaring at their retreating backs, and clicked his tongue. "Little Wen, keep your distance from Wang Meng for a while."

Wen Ce sounded puzzled. "Huh?"

"Haven't you seen the news? I'm worried he'll lose his head and throw acid or something..." Lin Fan's tone was full of concern.

Wen Ce: No need to go that far, thanks.

In the second half, Wen Ce and the others won without question, finishing with a twenty-three-point lead.

Everyone was happy when it ended.

Quite a few of the boys had also begun to change their opinion of Wen Ce.

"Wen Ce, you usually look so quiet and scholarly, but you've got pretty good stamina. You're good at basketball too," a boy said with a smile. He was one of the boys who had really wanted to win and had asked in the group chat to replace Wang Meng.

Wen Ce smiled. "You guys were pretty good too."

People tended to get excited after exercising, and Wen Ce was no exception.

The girls watching from the sidelines were cheering too.

Luo Lianqing watched the three girls beside her head down with water.

She glanced at the water in her own hand. Wen Ce probably wouldn't need it anymore.

He seemed more popular than she had imagined.

Narrowing her eyes, Luo Lianqing watched Wen Ce shake his head at several girls and walk over to where he had left his glasses.

Luo Lianqing took out her phone, sent Wen Ce a message, and left.

She was also worried Zhou Chi might catch on and come pester her.

Wen Ce walked over to the chair, picked up his phone, and checked it. There was a message from Luo Lianqing.

[You were amazing! You won! If you're not eating with your teammates tonight, I'll treat you. If you're celebrating with them, I'll treat you next time~ I'm off.]

He glanced toward the spectator seats. Sure enough, the spot where Luo Lianqing had been sitting was empty.

Wen Ce wiped his glasses. Once he put them on, his face was expressionless again.

"Wen Ce." Just then, a somewhat familiar voice came from behind him.

Wen Ce turned around. It was Wang Meng's ex-girlfriend. He thought she was called Wenwen or something; he really had forgotten her exact name.

This girl had pursued him for a long time when they first started their freshman year.

Wen Ce had clearly rejected her many times, but she hadn't given up.

Later, Wang Meng had started pursuing her, and the two had gradually gotten together. Wen Ce had even felt relieved.

Now, seeing her standing in front of him with water again made Wen Ce's head ache.

What kind of bullshit was this? Even a TV drama wouldn't dare write this.

Wang Meng wouldn't really come throw acid at him, would he?

Wen Ce sighed. "Did you need something? Wang Meng was over there just now."

He pointed in a direction.

But the girl in front of him shook her head. "Wang Meng and I broke up."

She looked at Wen Ce earnestly. "I was with him for over a year, but I feel like I still can't fall for him..."

What does that have to do with me? Wen Ce felt utterly out of sorts.

Then he heard Wenwen say, "Yanran said you like long legs. Do I still have a chance?"

Wen Ce: ...Liking long legs didn't mean liking everyone with long legs!
