Wen Ce sighed. "Sorry, we're really not right for each other. I said that plenty of times back then, too."

Fang Wen's expression soured at his answer. She tightened her grip on the water bottle. "Why won't you give it a try? I really like you. I have since freshman year."

Quite a few people had already noticed what was happening. They were all classmates or students from the same department. Fang Wen had been Wang Meng's girlfriend, yet now she was standing in front of Wen Ce, offering him water...

And Wang Meng stood watching a short distance away, his face practically turning green.

"Isn't she Wang Meng's girlfriend?"

"...I heard they broke up..."

"You guys don't know, do you... Since freshman year..."

All kinds of murmurs rose around them.

Wen Ce was getting impatient. He wasn't a monkey in a zoo, and he really disliked being surrounded and stared at. He checked the time and said to Lin Fanfan, who had watched the whole thing dumbfounded beside him, "I'm heading out. I've got something tonight."

"Hey, they just said we'd all grab dinner together!" Lin Fan snapped out of it and caught Wen Ce's arm. "You're not coming?"

"No, I'm meeting someone," Wen Ce said flatly, then added, "A pretty important friend."

Lin Fan gave an "Oh." Seeing Wang Meng about to come over, he hurriedly let go, afraid the two would fight. "Hurry up and go, then."

Wen Ce nodded, gathered his things, and turned to leave.

Fang Wen looked awful. She even began to wonder whether Qin Yanran had deliberately misled her.

Hadn't she said Wen Ce liked long legs? His attitude certainly didn't seem like it.

"Wen Ce, is it because you mind that I dated Wang Meng? I've never liked him." Her voice wasn't quiet, and everyone on the court fell silent.

Wen Ce was utterly fed up. The reason he had rejected this Wenwen so decisively so many times back then was that he really disliked how pushy she was.

Now, unmistakable impatience appeared on Wen Ce's face. "I don't like you. I didn't back then, and I won't now. Whatever relationship or feelings you and Wang Meng have, they're nothing to do with me."

He frowned at Fang Wen. "Wang Meng really likes you. Don't treat his feelings like they don't count."

With that, Wen Ce left without looking back. He had to go home, shower, and then head out for dinner.

Qin Yanran stood some distance away, watching Fang Wen in the middle of the court. Finally, she looked toward Wen Ce's retreating back, her gaze flickering, her thoughts unknown.

Wen Ce paid none of it any mind and went straight back to his apartment.

When he came out of the shower, he found several new messages on his phone.

There were messages from Lin Fan, other classmates, and Luo Lianqing.

Luo Lianqing's had arrived three minutes earlier. [I'm home. Let me know when you're heading out. Thank you.jpg]

Wen Ce replied with an OK. [Is fifteen minutes enough?]

[Enough for what?] She replied instantly.

[For you girls to do your makeup and get changed?] Wen Ce didn't notice the distinct smile in his eyes.

[No need when I'm going out with you.] Along with that message came a knock at his front door.

Wen Ce clicked his tongue. He had meant to put on a shirt first, but for some reason, his movements paused.

He went to answer the door bare-chested just like that.

Luo Lianqing stood outside, holding her phone.

She had changed out of her tracksuit into casual clothes. The weather wasn't so cold anymore, and she wasn't wearing a jacket.

She wore a white puff-sleeved top with a long denim skirt. The top was slightly cropped, revealing a small stretch of fair, soft waist when she raised her hand.

It was strikingly eye-catching.

"Hi~" Luo Lianqing looked up from her phone, only to freeze.

The man before her had clearly just showered. He wasn't wearing glasses, and he had casually pushed his damp hair back, revealing his finely sculpted, handsome features.

A towel still hung around his neck. Drops of water fell from his hair and slid down his chest, over his six-pack, before finally following his V-lines and disappearing into his gray sweatpants.

This was a little... seductively handsome.

Luo Lianqing's face began to redden. She averted her gaze, momentarily unsure where to look.

As though he hadn't noticed, Wen Ce turned and went inside. "Come in. I'll get changed."

Luo Lianqing murmured assent and followed him inside, her eyes trailing after him. She couldn't help thinking, Wen Ce looks so refined and scholarly, but he actually has muscles...

Wen Ce went in, pulled on a shirt, changed his pants, and came back out with his glasses still in his hand.

Luo Lianqing was still standing where she had been.

She had just glanced around Wen Ce's apartment. Its layout was basically the same as hers, only the decor was simpler. What surprised her somewhat was that his apartment was much cleaner than hers.

"Sorry, I forgot to ask you to sit down. Would you like some water and to sit for a bit?" Wen Ce sighed as he put on his glasses. "I'm not really used to having guests."

"Then I'll come over more often, and you'll get used to it," Luo Lianqing said without thinking. She stopped him from going to pour water and stared at his glasses. "Are you very nearsighted?"

Wen Ce reached up and touched his glasses. "No. They're nonprescription."

"Then why wear them?" Luo Lianqing asked, a little puzzled. Just now, she had found Wen Ce even more familiar without his glasses.

She didn't know whether it was just her imagination.

"I look like my mom. Without glasses, I look a little feminine," Wen Ce explained, only to see Luo Lianqing reach over and gently remove his glasses.

To Wen Ce, the gesture felt a little intimate, but he didn't stop her.

"But you actually look really good without glasses," Luo Lianqing said, looking into his eyes. "You do have delicate features, but I wouldn't call them feminine."

They were actually a little close now. Wen Ce could even make out each individual eyelash.

His gaze darkened slightly. He reached out and took the glasses from her hand. Their hands briefly touched, then quickly parted again.

Wen Ce stepped back with the glasses, then put them on. "I'm used to them."

Luo Lianqing gave an "Oh," suddenly finding herself a little bothered by his step backward. "Then let's go eat now. How about hot pot?"

Wen Ce reached up and touched his chest. His heart had sped up just now.

"Sure. Pick somewhere you want to go."

Luo Lianqing brightened a little. "I saw this internet-famous hot pot place before. I heard it's pretty good. Let's go try it..."

With that, she turned to glance at Wen Ce, who was two steps behind. "Hurry up and keep up."

Wen Ce paused before closing the door behind him and standing beside her to wait for the elevator.

The elevator was still on the first floor.

Looking at their reflections in the elevator doors, Luo Lianqing suddenly said, "I didn't expect you to have such a great body when you're so slim. Is this what they call looking slim dressed and muscular undressed?"

Remembering his deliberate actions just now, Wen Ce suddenly felt a little embarrassed. He murmured, "I guess so."

"But I have ab lines too," Luo Lianqing said with a smile, her bright, large eyes narrowing.

Wen Ce suddenly felt that something was a little off with him.

He looked at Luo Lianqing's beautiful face. Or do I really like this type?
