He liked busty lolis
Miaomiao went quiet on the other end for a moment, then asked, "A guy or a girl?"
Luo Lianqing choked. Only after a while did she say, "A guy, obviously!"
"Then that's fine!" Miaomiao sounded distinctly relieved.
The interruption lifted Luo Lianqing's mood a little, but she was still glum. "What's fine about it? He doesn't like me. He likes busty lolis!"
She sighed. "I'd only just realized I seemed to have the tiniest bit of a thing for him. Then I found out I wasn't his type."
"Wait, he likes busty lolis? The only thing you're missing is the loli part. That's pretty easy to fix," Miaomiao consoled her. "Tell me who it is first."
Miaomiao knew her best friend all too well. Though she seemed sunny, outgoing, and approachable, she was really a little snail carrying her shell on her back.
After all these years, she barely even had any friends. How had she suddenly met a guy who made her heart flutter?
With a best friend this innocent, Miaomiao was worried she might get tricked.
Luo Lianqing sighed. "You know how I'm working as a student counselor this semester? He's a student in my class..."
"Wait! Luoluo! Something this spicy? A teacher-student romance?" Miaomiao's voice instantly grew excited.
"What romance? Besides, doesn't the break start in just over a month? I won't be his teacher anymore then." Luo Lianqing was a little speechless. "At most, I'm his senior. That's not the point. Do you remember those mortifying moments I told you about?"
"He was the one I ran into every time..."
Luo Lianqing gave her a rough account of how she and Wen Ce had met, become friends, and how she had developed feelings for him.
When she finished, she asked, "What should I do?"
Miaomiao: ...
"Girl, seriously, what were you thinking?" She couldn't help sighing. "Have you even known him for two months?"
"About two months. Is there a problem?" Luo Lianqing asked back.
"No problem. I just don't know whether to call you a social butterfly or what. If I found out my neighbor had witnessed my mortifying moments multiple times, I'd probably choose to move rather than become friends with him," Miaomiao said honestly. "I couldn't take it. I'd probably feel awkward just looking at him."
"I don't. Wen Ce is really nice," Luo Lianqing said softly. "He's not the kind of person who makes you feel awkward."
"All right, you like him now, so everything about him is wonderful. But how can you decide he likes busty lolis just because he gave another girl an extra look?" Miaomiao couldn't quite understand.
Luo Lianqing sighed. "But he flat-out denied we were dating. That really hurt."
"But think about it. Given your current positions, if he didn't deny it and someone saw you and started spreading rumors, that would have a huge impact on you too," Miaomiao analyzed seriously. It was rare for Luoluo to like someone; she had to give her proper advice.
"You can't use that as your basis for judging. You could test the waters!"
Luo Lianqing looked up at the light overhead. "How should I do that?"
"You need to..."
Wen Ce gloomily finished two cigarettes, then went inside. He sniffed the cigarette smell on himself with some distaste and went to take a shower.
After his shower, he turned on his computer for once, then tapped away and searched up a pile of things.
There were even some porn sites.
He clicked into one at random, took a couple of looks, then frowned and closed it.
What kind of taste did Zhou Chi have?
Wen Ce typed on his computer for a while with an expressionless face, then shut it down.
He went straight to bed.
Meanwhile, at the nearby school, Zhou Chi had just returned to his dorm. Somewhat tired, he took out his phone, only for a string of sharp, high-pitched, suggestive sounds to burst out the moment he unlocked it.
They were mostly male voices, too. All Zhou Chi saw was a screenful of pale bare flesh.
His face turned green.
Flustered, he pressed the volume buttons, but the video remained. No matter what he tapped, those two men stayed on his phone screen.
His dormmates heard the sounds and swore. "Holy shit, Chi, seriously? With the speaker on, too?"
"It's not even lights-out yet!"
"Chi, let me see!"
A dormmate sidled over with a grin, then his face turned green too.
"Holy shit! Chi, you!"
"Fuck! My phone's got a virus, damn it!"
Looking grim, Zhou Chi tried to force his phone to shut down, but even that failed.
In the end, the phone played like that all night, finally running out of battery the next morning.
Zhou Chi threw it away outright, never figuring out how his phone had gotten infected.
After a night's sleep, Wen Ce was in a much better mood.
He also began thinking about how to rescue Luo Lianqing's questionable taste. How had she ended up liking Zhou Chi?
Just for that good-looking face?
But surely Luo Lianqing wasn't that shallow?
As Wen Ce was making breakfast with little expression on his face, a knock came at the door.
His movements paused. Normally, Luo Lianqing was the only one who would come at this hour, as they had agreed.
He turned off the heat, then went to open the door.
Sure enough, Luo Lianqing stood outside holding her cat. She was still in her pajamas, her face free of makeup, and seemed to have just woken up too.
"Good morning. I'm here to mooch breakfast. Have you made any?" She lifted the cat a little. "And Egg Yolk said he missed you."
Egg Yolk meowed at Wen Ce.
Wen Ce's gaze moved from her to the cat. Finally, he reached out to take Egg Yolk and stepped slightly aside. "Come in."
A smile curved Luo Lianqing's lips. Entry into his home: achievement unlocked √
She even politely closed the door behind her.
Wen Ce turned to glance at her. "What if I hadn't made breakfast?"
"Then I'd invite you out for breakfast." Luo Lianqing reached out to take the cat back. "Anyway, I want to have breakfast with you today."
She said it with perfect assurance, looking a little spoiled and willful.
Yet Wen Ce felt his mood improve a little more. "Sit for a bit. It'll be ready soon. Are noodles okay?"
Holding the cat, Luo Lianqing obediently sat on the sofa and said with a well-behaved expression, "The freeloader has no objections."
Wen Ce nodded and went into the kitchen.
Watching his retreating back, Luo Lianqing secretly smiled. Miaomiao was right. Wen Ce wasn't averse to her. Maybe she still had a chance.
She stroked Egg Yolk and whispered, "Egg Yolk, I'm finding you a brother-in-law. You need to put in some effort too, okay?"
Egg Yolk glanced at her and gave what sounded like a helpless meow.
Wen Ce had already started cooking the noodles, but because of Luo Lianqing, he had to readjust things. He also opened the fridge and took out two eggs.
Once he had fried them, he put both in the same bowl.
He made breakfast quickly and carried the noodles to the dining table. "Come over."
Then he saw her coming over with the cat in her arms.
"Put the cat down, or you'll get a mouthful of cat hair," Wen Ce said somewhat helplessly.
"I'm worried Egg Yolk will mess up your things." Luo Lianqing stood where she was, holding Egg Yolk with an innocent expression.
But Wen Ce said, "There's nothing important. Put the cat down and come eat."
