Jiang Yuyan did not watch any further.
She deleted the surveillance footage that had recorded her entering the castle and switched off some of the cameras.
Once she had done that, she left the castle without looking back.
Outside, the sky had already darkened.
Jiang Yuyan walked alone along the road with her head down, clutching her trench coat around herself, like a puppet that had lost its soul.
She slowly calmed down from her anguish.
Clearly, there was only one path before Jiang Yuyan-
Divorcing Han Yi.
But not now.
After so many years of marriage, her interests and Han Yi's were deeply intertwined.
Many of the Jiang Family's businesses and a large portion of its wealth were in Han Yi's hands.
At first, she had actually been the one steering the Jiang Family single-handedly.
Matters great and small were complicated and exhausting, but she had never felt tired.
Ever since she was young, she had understood that she had to shoulder and protect everything belonging to the Jiang Family.
But she was a woman, after all, and had to go through pregnancy and childbirth-and she had given birth to five children in a row!
During her pregnancies and after giving birth, she simply lacked the strength and time to attend to the Jiang Family's affairs, so she had no choice but to hand some authority over to her husband, Han Yi.
Han Yi was clever and learned quickly, handling everything in perfect order, but at the same time, some of the authority over the Jiang Family naturally passed into his hands.
That also meant Han Yi had begun meddling in the Jiang Family's core affairs.
At the time, she had not thought anything was wrong. She had only thought Han Yi was very capable and could help share her burden.
Thinking back now, that bastard Han Yi might well have done it on purpose!
He had deliberately made her have so many children so he could slowly nibble away at the power in her hands!
While she was giving birth and raising their children, he had slowly built up prestige within the Jiang Family and taken control of a vast amount of wealth.
Jiang Yuyan felt some regret.
If she had been just a little more wary of her spouse, she would not have fallen to this point...
As things stood, if she divorced Han Yi, there was no way they could part peacefully, so dividing their assets would be a major problem.
If all their assets were in her hands, she could kick Han Yi out whenever she pleased.
But because of her ignorance, Han Yi had already sunk his hands into too many of her interests...
Although Jiang Yuyan had evidence of his infidelity during their marriage, as long as Han Yi put a little thought into transferring assets, she would be completely helpless...
She could not bear to let Han Yi carve away even a tiny bit of the Jiang Family's assets. Even that tiny bit would be enough for him, his girlfriend, and his illegitimate daughter to feast on fine food and drink for the rest of their lives.
And what Han Yi would carve away was far more than a tiny bit.
Jiang Yuyan rubbed the tightly furrowed space between her brows.
Everything required careful, long-term planning.
She would not let Han Yi take so much as a stone from the Jiang Family. She would make him get out with nothing.
Until then, she had to keep her composure and avoid rustling the grass and startling the snake.
Jiang Yuyan bought a flight home, but before that-
There was something she wanted to do.
Han Yi knew nothing of any of this.
He had always secretly kept Bai Ling and her daughter settled abroad.
Their meetings had always taken place abroad as well.
Perhaps because nothing had gone wrong in all these years, he had grown increasingly bold. While Jiang Yuyan was back home, he had brought the mother and daughter straight to the castle where he and Jiang Yuyan usually stayed abroad.
From what he knew of Jiang Yuyan, that woman would never suspect a thing.
Bai Ling had been his junior at university. She was obedient and virtuous, with a gentle disposition. No man disliked a woman who obeyed his every wish.
All these years, he had never been able to forget her.
Back then, to climb higher, he had married Jiang Yuyan, whom he did not particularly like.
Although Jiang Yuyan was beautiful, she clearly had a spoiled young lady's temperament, and he had to be the one to bow his head and remain humble.
When he was young, he had had to endure it, and he had learned patience.
But he knew the day when he no longer had to endure it would come soon.
He believed he would soon control the entire Jiang Family.
At that moment, Bai Ling and Bai Xue were practicing the piano in the castle's music room. Watching them through the floor-to-ceiling windows, Han Yi felt nothing but peace and contentment.
This was the life he wanted.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
Han Yi glanced at the screen and frowned slightly.
It was a completely unfamiliar number.
He answered without expression, and an unfamiliar foreign woman's voice came from the other end.
"Hello, is this Mr. Han?" The woman spoke in fluent, authentic Laskal, her voice loud and strong.
Having spent so long abroad, Han Yi naturally knew the local language too. He quickly switched languages and answered fluently, "Hello, yes, speaking."
"May I ask if you're currently living at Rose Manor on Tanding Street?" the woman continued.
Han Yi's brows drew together even more tightly.
An unfamiliar woman had suddenly appeared and was inexplicably asking about his current address...
Han Yi was silent for a moment, but in the end, he answered truthfully, "Yes."
The woman immediately asked, "So you haven't moved out yet?"
Moved out?
At that moment, Han Yi's brows were tightly knitted, and he was utterly bewildered.
A bad feeling rose in his heart.
"Your wife, Ms. Jiang Yuyan, has already sold Rose Manor, which was under her name, to me," the woman suddenly said. "Actually, I've liked this estate for a long time, and I'm delighted to finally have the chance to buy it. Your wife said you were the only person at the estate. Once you move out with your personal belongings, I can move in."
"She told me I could even move in tomorrow." There was undisguisable joy in the woman's voice. "So, could you move out as soon as possible today?"
Han Yi tightened his grip on his phone, his face darkening.
To him, this news was like a thunderbolt from a clear sky...
Jiang Yuyan sold this castle?!
She just sold it like that?!
Without telling me or discussing it with me, she quietly sold the house I'm living in?
Selling the house was one thing, but she's making me move out within a day?
He looked at Bai Ling and Bai Xue in the music room. If he really had been alone, it would have been manageable, but right now, they were a family of three!
If they moved out immediately, he would have to find a suitable new house.
Although someone would handle things for him and help him find a house, so he would not have to worry too much, being made to move out so suddenly-
Was embarrassing in itself.
How was he supposed to explain it to Bai Ling?
Countless thoughts flashed through Han Yi's mind. His expression had turned unspeakably dark, and his mood hit rock bottom.
"Mr. Han?" When Han Yi remained silent, the woman on the other end could not help prompting him, "Are you still listening?"
Han Yi took a deep breath, trying hard to steady his emotions, which were already on the verge of spiraling out of control.
"Understood," he replied in a low, heavy voice.
After hanging up, Han Yi immediately called Jiang Yuyan.
"Hello, what is it?" Once the call connected, Jiang Yuyan's clear voice came through the phone.
