Although Han Yi was seething inside, he still knew how to conduct himself in front of Jiang Yuyan.
It was not yet time to openly fall out with Jiang Yuyan. He had to maintain his disguise.
"Yanyan, you sold Rose Manor?" Han Yi asked in a meek, deferential tone. "Why didn't you tell me about something this big? I suddenly got a call today, and I was really a little shocked..."
Jiang Yuyan's tone was mild, revealing no emotion. "Didn't you say before that you didn't like Rose Manor?"
"It was too big and deserted, and there were so many mosquitoes and bugs on the grounds that you found it annoying."
"I... did I say that?" Han Yi knitted his brows, trying hard to remember. He did seem to have complained about it before, but that had been so long ago. How did Jiang Yuyan still remember?
"You also said you preferred living in an upscale apartment downtown," Jiang Yuyan continued. "So I kept that in mind and thought about finding a suitable buyer for Rose Manor."
Jiang Yuyan curved her lips into a smile. "All those flowers and plants in my manor needed someone who loved gardening to take them over. This time, I finally met a buyer who only comes along once in a thousand years. I thought they were a good fit, so I sold it right away."
"Then did you not consider that I'm still living here?" Han Yi gritted his teeth, his expression already twisting slightly, though his tone remained gentle and humble. "You even told them they could move in tomorrow... I really was caught off guard."
Jiang Yuyan spoke as though it were only natural. "It's just you, isn't it? All you have to do is grab your briefcase and clothes and leave. What's so difficult about that?"
Han Yi: The problem is, it isn't just me.
"I left everything else in the manor to the buyer, so you don't have to worry about it." A quiet pleasure colored Jiang Yuyan's voice. "After you leave, just rent an upscale apartment downtown. That's very convenient too. I don't understand what you're finding so difficult..."
"Or," Jiang Yuyan suddenly raised her voice, "is there some difficulty I don't know about?"
"Of course not," Han Yi hurriedly denied.
At this point, Han Yi could only swallow the loss.
Jiang Yuyan's reasoning was so sound that he had no room even to argue.
"I understand, Yanyan." Han Yi tried his best to sound gentle. Even now, he did not forget to play the good husband and father. "You're back in the country already, right? Have you gotten over the jet lag? You should get plenty of rest right now. Are the children doing well too?"
Jiang Yuyan's voice was calm. "I've been resting well, and the children are doing very well too. Let's leave it here. I have things to do."
Jiang Yuyan hung up. At that moment, she was sitting in the airport terminal, waiting for her flight home.
Before returning home, she had sold Rose Manor cleanly and decisively.
She had bought the property in the first place, so she could sell it whenever she wanted. Sure enough, Han Yi had rushed over impatiently to question her.
No matter how much she liked that manor, it was already filthy!
That mother and daughter had dirtied it.
Of course she could not keep it.
Selling it killed two birds with one stone. Not only did she get rid of that "filthy thing" in one go, but Han Yi would also have to slink out with his girlfriend and illegitimate daughter and find another place...
How humiliating, Han Yi!
Jiang Jinran and Ji Shuying had arranged to do their homework together at the library.
Jiang Jinran was not actually all that fond of studying.
Besides, the material at this stage was a little too easy for her. She did not need to study it at all.
But Ji Shuying had invited her so sincerely that she felt too embarrassed to refuse, so she had come to the library with her.
After studying, they left the library and headed straight to a nearby café.
"This café looks really fancy. Will it be expensive?"
The café Jiang Jinran had chosen had very upscale decor. Ji Shuying had not thought much of it at first, but the more she looked, the more alarmed she became.
She and Jiang Jinran both came from ordinary families. If they could not afford their order and were unable to pay, would they be kept here to wash dishes?
Jiang Jinran, however, looked unconcerned. "I've happened to save up quite a bit of pocket money lately. My treat."
She had just received five million!
Although Jiang Jinran was obsessed with making and saving money, she was not stingy, and she knew how to enjoy herself.
Work hard to earn money, spend it with abandon-that was her rule in life.
Once you had money in hand, you were supposed to spend it!
"Let's not. I can't make you spend that much." Ji Shuying's expression was one of refusal.
Jiang Jinran waved a hand. "We're already here."
And so, the two chose a corner by the window and sat down across from each other.
Ji Shuying glanced at the menu, and her heart nearly leaped out of her chest. Her eyes widened, and she even started to stammer. "Jiang Jinran... we... there's still time to retreat... this is so, so much more expensive than I imagined..."
Jiang Jinran shook her head. "I told you I have savings. It's fine. Order whatever you want to drink."
"How much do you have saved?" Ji Shuying asked.
Jiang Jinran pursed her lips. Naturally, she would not tell the truth. "I worked really hard to save it up bit by bit, just thinking that one day I'd splurge and spend it all at once. That actually feels pretty great."
The corners of her lips lifted into a smile. "Today is a good opportunity."
Ji Shuying: ...
"That's quite an unusual habit you have." After a moment of silence, Ji Shuying gave a dry laugh.
The two soon placed their orders, and before long, a server brought their coffees to the table.
There really was a reason the coffee here was so expensive.
After tasting it, both found that the coffee had a refined mouthfeel and tasted very good.
Yet just then-
A group of men in black suddenly poured into the café.
They were tall and wore all-black sunglasses, their expressions cold and stern.
"Clear the place immediately."
One of the men in black said this to the café owner and the servers, his tone sounding like an order that left no room for refusal.
"Miss Lu will be here shortly," the man added.
The café owner immediately understood. Unable to worry about offending the customers present, he began asking them to leave, clearing the place out.
Naturally, Jiang Jinran and Ji Shuying were among those to be "cleared out."
"But we've only just had a couple of sips."
Jiang Jinran blinked her large eyes as she spoke with some reluctance.
"We won't charge you for the coffee. Please leave right away." The server made a gesture inviting her to leave, a hint of anxiety on his face.
"But we came here today to spend money." Jiang Jinran leisurely took another sip of coffee, showing no intention of leaving.
Across from her, Ji Shuying watched Jiang Jinran's expression.
If Jiang Jinran was not leaving, she would obediently stay too.
Seeing that Jiang Jinran would not budge no matter what he said, the server was so anxious he nearly cried.
By then, every other customer had been ushered out of the café except Jiang Jinran and Ji Shuying.
Seeing this, the owner was just about to approach and ask them to leave when-
The crisp clicking of high heels came from the entrance.
Jiang Jinran looked toward the entrance at the sound. A tall woman with a figure worthy of a model walked in.
She had a thick head of curls and beautiful, striking features. Every movement carried the aura of a great beauty.
She truly was a rare beauty.
"Why are there still two girls here?" Seeing people still lingering in the café, Lu Wanning frowned in displeasure. She looked at the man in black beside her and ordered almost without hesitation-
"Dump out their coffee, then throw them out."
