One move, and another one-move victory!
"Hahaha... Diderot, you've been picked as the pushover!"
The other Prefects beside Diderot Yaxley looked ready to enjoy the show.
They weren't the ones being challenged. Why would they care?
"Shut up!"
As though he had suffered a tremendous humiliation, Diderot stepped out from among the Prefects.
"Argus, was it? You arrogant brat!"
"Today, I'll teach you how to respect your seniors!"
The Yaxley family was one of the twenty-eight pure-blood families.
Diehard supporters of Voldemort!
Quite a few members of the family were still locked up in Azkaban!
In Argus's plans for the future, they were among those he would have to eliminate sooner or later.
As information about his opponent surfaced in his mind, a trace of coldness flashed through Argus's eyes.
"Both duelists are ready!"
"Begin the duel!"
Before Amiri Carrow's voice had faded, Argus was already prepared to cast his spell.
"Stupefy!"
A beam of red light hurtled toward Diderot!
It gave him no time to react at all!
"Petrificus Totalus!"
Diderot barely managed to cast a spell to resist, but he was still too late!
Bang!
A dull thud rang out.
Diderot was blasted away, flying straight toward Snape by sheer coincidence.
Amid startled cries, Snape flicked his wand and flung Diderot aside.
His face was as black as coal!
"Hurry up and take this idiot to Madam Pomfrey!"
Several stunned older students hastily hauled him up and ran toward the door.
The other students were already trembling at Argus's strength.
One move, and another one-move victory!
Although there had been an element of surprise to it, Argus had handled Shafiq's attack with ease.
Compared with Diderot, who had barely even managed to cast a spell, the difference was enormous!
Pansy and the others bounced excitedly, stopping just short of tossing Argus into the air.
A younger student defeating an older student was extremely rare in the Prefect ranking battles!
Even when it happened, it was usually in the fifth or sixth year, only becoming possible after years of studying magic.
Most new students like them had barely cast a handful of spells.
Defeat an older student?
They had never even considered it!
"Argus, that's just what I'd expect from you!"
Draco was utterly exhilarated, as though he had been the one to defeat Diderot.
Argus smiled, regret showing in his eyes.
If there hadn't been so many people watching, and if he hadn't been at Hogwarts, he certainly wouldn't have let his opponent off.
Becoming the Prefect for his year proved that his talent and diligence were among the best of his peers.
Even if he never reached a professor's level in the future, he would certainly be more than capable of matching an Auror.
How was letting him go any different from releasing a tiger back into the mountains?
Ah, what a shame. I'll find another opportunity later!
The instant he defeated Diderot, a system notification sounded.
[Congratulations to the host for defeating the second-year Prefect and earning the achievement: Prefect (second year)] [Achievement point reward: 200]
Argus was surprised. "System, what's going on? Why is it two hundred points?"
[The host has defeated a student in a higher year and received additional achievement points.] [The greater the year gap, the greater the additional achievement point reward.]
Holy shit, by that logic, if I take down the seventh-year Prefect, wouldn't I get seven hundred points straight away?
That's enough for seven card pack draws!
Argus's eyes lit up, and his gaze immediately grew eager as he looked at the other Prefects.
These are all glittering achievement points!
"First-year Prefect Argus Grindelwald's challenge has succeeded! If no one else wishes to challenge, I declare..."
"Wait a moment, Prefect Carrow."
Being interrupted by Argus repeatedly made Amiri Carrow look particularly displeased.
"Haven't you already finished your challenge? What else do you want?"
"I want to continue by challenging the third-year Prefect!"
The third-year Prefect: ???
I was just enjoying the drama. How did I end up in it myself?
What did I ever do to deserve this?
Everyone's eyes turned toward the third-year Prefect.
"Mr. Grindelwald, please be a little more gentlemanly toward a lady."
The third-year Prefect sighed and walked into the center of the common room.
Alexia Slanlin was a beautiful girl with a slender figure and visible cleavage.
Her hair was an unusual pale green.
A pure-blood, but not from one of the twenty-eight families.
"Alexia, don't lose to this guy!"
"Go, Alexia! We believe in you!"
"How dare a new student act so arrogantly! Teach him a good lesson!"
She was very popular, and cheers of encouragement rose from the crowd from time to time.
Argus was speechless.
Western students really do mature early. They're already judging people by their looks at this age.
In my previous life, kids this age were still munching on dry instant noodles outside the school gates!
Despite those thoughts, his movements did not slow. He bowed his head and prepared to begin the duel.
"The second Prefect ranking battle will be between first-year Prefect Argus Grindelwald and third-year Prefect Alexia Slanlin."
"Begin!"
"Protego!"
Alexia had learned from the second-year Prefect Diderot's mistake and feared reacting too slowly.
She opened with a defensive spell to protect herself first.
She did not dare underestimate this elegant younger student in the slightest.
The slightest carelessness could lead to defeat!
But she had never imagined that Argus's abilities went beyond spells!
"Diffindo!"
Argus swung his wand toward the chairs nearby.
Several chairs shattered at once, sending countless splinters and chunks of wood flying.
He flicked his wand again, and the scattered pieces of wood transformed into ravens!
They shot straight toward Alexia's abdomen!
"Petrificus Totalus!"
Alexia reacted swiftly, immediately casting a Full Body-Bind Curse.
The raven it struck turned into a stone statue and crashed to the floor.
Unhurried, Argus pointed his wand at Alexia's neck and gave it a few gentle flicks.
A button on her wizarding robes twisted and transformed into a venomous snake!
It let out a chilling hiss!
"Ah!"
Caught off guard, Alexia fell onto her backside.
At that moment, the venomous snake reverted to its original form, turning back into a button and falling to the floor.
Worried that she would keep fighting, Argus took advantage of her fall to cast Incarcerous at her.
It bound her hands tightly.
"Miss Slanlin, thank you for the match."
"I surrender! Now untie me!"
Alexia's beautiful eyes widened as she gave Argus a reproachful glare.
Once the spell was lifted, she flexed her faintly aching wrists.
She walked up to Argus and jabbed a slender finger hard against his chest.
"Mr. Argus, you have no gentlemanly manners!"
"I'll remember you!"
"Hmph!"
With a toss of her long hair, she turned and returned to the other Prefects.
The crowd was deathly silent. Only after a long while did someone speak.
Their voice was filled with disbelief.
"Alexia... lost?"
"This has to be fake, right?"
"Impossible, absolutely impossible!"
"..."
Argus paid no attention to their words as another system notification sounded in his mind.
[Congratulations to the host for defeating the third-year Prefect and earning the achievement: Prefect (third year)] [Achievement point reward: 300]
A bumper harvest, a bumper harvest!
Today's earnings alone have almost caught up with what I used to earn in a week or two!
When he turned his gaze toward the fourth-year Prefect, the other boy immediately panicked!
From how effortlessly Argus had fought, it was clear he definitely hadn't used his full strength!
If he faces me...
A bead of cold sweat slid down the fourth-year Prefect's forehead.
One look at Argus told Amiri Carrow that he intended to keep challenging.
Without a word, he turned his gaze toward the fourth-year Prefect.
The fourth-year Prefect steeled himself and stepped forward.
"Scamander, show him what you're made of!"
Motherfucker!
Scamander was already feeling apprehensive, and the shout from behind made his temper flare.
He kicked the speaker in the leg.
"Are you fucking sick in the head?"
"Argus is my dearest friend, my brother! How could I possibly attack him!"
He walked into the center of the common room, pulled out a handful of sweets, and offered them to Argus, who stared at him in bewilderment.
"Brother, you must be tired after fighting for so long, right?"
"Want a sweet to perk you up?"
