When Ji Yuan returned to the courtyard, it had long since fallen quiet again. The Little Characters had returned to the Sword Intent Scroll, while not all the ink in the inkstone had been eaten clean—there was still a trace of ink left in its well.
"Is Mister Ji leaving?"
Mother Jujube stood up from the table side, asking on everyone's behalf. Ji Yuan had nothing to hide and gestured with the wooden sword in his hand.
"Fellow Daoist Lian is indeed in quite a hurry. They say the immortal port on Yuhuai Mountain has been built rather well. That wasn't mentioned last time, so it happens to be a good chance to go take a look."
Before anyone in the courtyard could show disappointment, Ji Yuan immediately added with a smile.
"Yuhuai Mountain is practically in our neighborhood. Anyone interested can come along and have a look."
This suggestion was mainly for Mother Jujube's sake. Not only had the girl never stepped outside Ju'an Pavilion, Ji Yuan had realized that she genuinely had never even entertained the thought of leaving it. Even though going out was no longer difficult for her, she had never done so. It was not that she did not dare; the thought simply had never crossed her mind.
Perhaps that was what trees were like. Ji Yuan did not object to Mother Jujube staying home, but he felt she should still go out and stretch her legs now and then.
Sure enough, everyone gladly accepted Ji Yuan's suggestion. Hu Yun was especially delighted. Though he had settled down to cultivate, in his bones he was still rather restless. Having the chance to go out and play with Mister Ji could not have been better.
