The biggest reason he had been able to knock Smoker flat with a single slash was that Smoker had underestimated Bai Yu and completely let his guard down.
With the Two Types of Haki empowering it, even Bai Yu felt his face hurt when he thought about that slash.

The notification sounded again.
Bai Yu looked a little surprised as he gazed at the eight hundred points on the system interface.
That surprise soon turned into a sense that this was only natural.
Sure enough, the landlord would not allow anyone to keep any surplus grain.
Still, he just had to get used to this sort of thing.
Instead, Bai Yu rather looked forward to meeting Ace next, wondering whether his face would be tougher than Smoker's and let him farm him a second time.

A string of ethereal notifications rang out, forming a symphony in his mind.
Bai Yu looked at his System Points, emptied in an instant, and soon saw a pitch-black sniper rifle appear in System Space.
This sniper rifle was completely different from the ones in Bai Yu's memory, with quite a few additional energy crystal tubes around it.
According to the system, this super-modified sniper rifle did not fire bullets. Instead, it could alternate between two kinds of power.
Aside from its own laser beam, it could also be loaded with Haki.
At that final line, Bai Yu truly wanted to shout, How fucking thoughtful.
"L-Lord Bai Yu, if you think my shooting practice is interfering with your training, I can stop."
Carina spoke haltingly.
"Don't worry. You're not getting in my way."
Bai Yu withdrew from his consciousness space as he spoke.
"Don't you like sniping? I happen to have a sniper rifle on hand. It should suit you pretty well."
A sniper rifle?
Zoro, Nami, and the others all froze for a moment.
"Lord Bai Yu, you play with guns too? This sort of thing doesn't really fit your usual image, does it?"
Nami could not help asking.
Beside her, Zoro nodded silently.
In their eyes, Bai Yu was someone who wielded a wooden sword with broad, sweeping strokes.
He had never even used the Demon Sword Murasame at his waist.
According to Bai Yu, no one in the East Blue was worthy of making him draw his blade yet.
That had made Zoro, who normally trained with real swords, carve three wooden swords overnight.
"Ahem, this thing is pretty powerful. Used properly, it might even snipe one of the Four Emperors dead."
Bai Yu gave a dry cough as he spoke.
Hearing a female friend talk about playing with guns undeniably made Bai Yu feel as though the conversation had taken a dirty turn.
"It can snipe one of the Four Emperors dead?"
Zoro rolled his eyes as he spoke.
"Bai Yu, are you treating us like ignorant natives, or are you one yourself? Killing one of the Four Emperors with just a gun? That joke isn't funny."
"I'd better get back to training."
Zoro walked straight off to one side and resumed swinging his wooden swords.
Yet out of the corner of his eye, he kept glancing toward Bai Yu.
It was a textbook case of his mouth saying no while his body said yes.
However, Bai Yu paid none of it any mind. With a thought, he took the Super-Modified 98K out of thin air.
The rifle was nearly a meter long, heavy and substantial, with military camouflage all over it and four energy slots around its barrel.
These were the Super-Modified 98K's ammunition slots.
Once the energy slots were depleted, it would enter a cooldown period.
It seemed that even a system-produced sniper rifle could not be used as a machine gun.
Still, Bai Yu was very curious about just what made this Super-Modified 98K different.
"Lord Bai Yu, this gun of yours is different from all the ones I've seen before."
Surprised, Carina could not help reaching out to touch Bai Yu's gun.
That gesture made Bai Yu's expression freeze, and he hurriedly changed the subject.
"Carina, let me demonstrate this gun's power for you first."
"It's been a long time since I last used one, too."
As he spoke, Bai Yu raised the Super-Modified 98K.
Following the firearms knowledge the system had granted him, he expertly adjusted all its components.
At the same time, he took out the Super-Modified 8x Scope and fitted it straight into its mounting slot.
He looked at the fully assembled, top-of-the-line sniper rifle.
Bai Yu really did feel a stir of excitement, wanting to know just how far the words "super-modified" could go in the Sea King world.
With every preparation complete, Bai Yu raised his left hand and used his right to brace the Super-Modified 98K on his arm, closing his left eye and bringing his right up to the 8x scope.
For a moment, he felt as though, with a sniper rifle in hand, the whole world was his.
"Sure enough, a man should play with sniper rifles."
Bai Yu muttered to himself, then immediately focused his attention and looked through the 8x scope.
Bai Yu was curious about the Super-Modified 98K's power.
But the Super-Modified 8x Scope was no exception, either.
Yet at that single glance, Bai Yu's pupils abruptly contracted, and a trace of disbelief appeared on his face.
This 8x scope is fucking insane!
If he had not used it himself, Bai Yu would never have believed any of this was real.
