"Report: Mission accomplished!"
Shin'un's voice, as he stepped forward to report, startled the busy Nara Shikahito.
Looking up, Nara Shikahito glanced at Shin'un.
"Ah, Shin'un is back."
Upon noticing that Nara Shikahito had noticed him, Shin'un immediately nodded in acknowledgment.
" Jonin Nara, mission complete."
"Okay." Nara Shikahito nodded in satisfaction, turned around, walked to his desk, sat down, and eagerly asked:
"How about it?"
"Did you obtain enough intelligence from that Sand Ninja outpost?"
Shin'un pulled out several sealing scrolls from behind his back and handed them to Nara Shikahito in front of him.
"This is all the intelligence we brought from that Sand Ninja stronghold, but we haven't verified it yet, so we're unsure if any of it is valuable."
"Alright!" Nara Shikahito smiled, stood up, and took the scrolls Shin'un handed him. "With enough intelligence, it will be time for Konoha to retaliate against the Sand Ninja."
Seeing Nara Shikahito so happy, Cloud Ninja but speak up.
"Only..."
"But what?" Nara Shikahito, still in high spirits, noticed Shin'un's odd behavior.
"Compared to previous missions, this one suffered some losses," Shin'un said with a heavy heart.
"Oh, what's wrong?" Nara Shikahito's smile faded upon hearing Shin'un's words, and he asked, "Were the personnel losses in this mission severe?"
Shin'un nodded with a grave expression and said, "That's right, the personnel losses in this mission were very severe."
"This mission included my squad, a total of five squads, and fifteen ninjas. After completing the mission, one Jonin was killed, two Chunin, four Chunin were seriously injured, and the remaining ninjas had minor injuries of varying degrees."
"Furthermore, the sacrificed Jonin was Dan Katō, who was capable of using the Spirit Transformation Technique."
" Dan Katō?" Nara Shikahito's somber expression eased slightly upon hearing that only one Jonin had been sacrificed.
Seeing Shin'un's somber expression, he thought all twelve ninjas who accompanied Shin'un on this mission had died...
Letting out a breath, Nara Shikahito continued, "What exactly happened during the mission?"
When Nara Shikahito inquired about the mission details, Shin'un wasn't too surprised, as this was simply part of the mission report.
At that moment, Shin'un quickly began to report, recounting everything that had happened and the arrangements made from the start of this mission until they left the Sand Ninja's controlled area.
"Four days ago, after receiving the quest scroll, I went straight to the camp..."
"..."
"..."
"After a fierce attack on the Sand Ninja Village stronghold, we successfully seized all the intelligence from that camp..."
"But during our escape from the Sand Ninja stronghold, the place where Dan Katō hiding was attacked by Sand Ninja ninja..."
"Due to the attack by the Sand Ninja, Dan Katō, whose soul had left his body, suffered severe injuries and died from them on our way back to the Konoha camp..."
"Then, we returned to the Konoha camp, and the mission was completed and ended."
Standing before Nara Shikahito, Shin'un recounted everything that had happened during the mission.
"That's how it is..." Nara Shikahito understood the process of Dan Katō's death after hearing Shin'un's report.
"There's nothing we can do. Your command was sound; Dan Katō's death can only be attributed to bad luck."
You don't need to blame yourself.
After a moment's thought, Nara Shikahito rested his elbows on the table, raised his hands to support his chin, and summarized Dan Katō's death.
"This is considered a normal personnel casualty incident during the mission."
"Besides, this mission was extremely difficult to begin with, and I was already prepared to halve the number of people involved."
"But..." Nara Shikahito frowned, his eyes thoughtful. "It's rather a pity that it was Dan Katō who died..."
Upon hearing Nara Shikahito's words, Shin'un nodded without saying anything more.
He understood what Nara Shikahito meant; Dan Katō was still quite useful.
After all, only Dan Katō in Konoha can use the Spirit Transformation Technique. Compared to others, Dan Katō, who can separate his soul from his body, can have a great advantage in any mission.
Unexpectedly, Dan Katō sacrificed himself on his first mission to provide support in the Sand Ninja battlefield.
Shaking his head, Nara Shikahito stopped dwelling on it, looked up at Shin'un, and said:
"Alright, don't think about it too much. You said Dan Katō's body was successfully recovered?"
"Ah, that's right." Shin'un nodded in affirmation, saying, " Jonin Katō's body has been sealed in a scroll and is currently being kept by his teammates."
"His teammates should have taken the body to the logistics department to report the casualties, hand over the body, and arrange for a convoy to send it back to Konoha."
Nara Shikahito nodded and said:
"I understand. Thank you for your hard work on this mission."
Nara Shikahito smiled as he held up several scrolls in his hand.
"Go back and get some rest these next couple of days. If these scrolls contain enough intelligence, you won't be idle during our next operation against the Sand Ninja Konoha."
Upon hearing Nara Shikahito's words, Shin'un nodded knowingly, greeted him, and then turned and left the tent.
"Whoosh~"
Lifting the curtain, Shin'un led two teammates out of the command tent.
"What do we do next?" Shiina Kō looked around at the Konoha Ninja hurrying past the camp and asked Shin'un beside him.
"What?" Shin'un glanced at Shiina Kō and replied, "Didn't the Jonin Nara say we should go back to camp and rest well to prepare for the next attack on the Sand Ninja?"
"Oh~" Shiina Kō knowingly, his eyes darted around, a bright smile appeared on his face, and he moved closer to Shin'un.
"Then, shall we go back to the camp together... and sleep?"
Shin'un's brow twitched slightly as he looked at Shiina Kō, who was extremely close to his face. He could even feel the gentle touch of Shiina Kō's breath brushing against his face.
Although there was a slightly ambiguous atmosphere, after four consecutive days of being away on missions without time for personal hygiene, Shin'un noticed that Shiina Kō's breath smelled foul...
Seeing the face so close to his, Shin'un raised his right hand to block Shiina Kō, pushing him away.
"Stay away from me, you have bad breath..."
"Ugh~" Shiina Kō was slapped away. After regaining his balance, he was stunned when he heard Shin'un's words.
Raising his head, Shiina Kō stared wide-eyed, pointed at Shin'un, and remained silent for a long time.
After a moment, Shiina Kō seemed a little embarrassed and silently lowered his finger that was pointing at Shin'un.
He muttered under his breath, "I'm going to wash up..."
After saying that, Shiina Kō turned around and vanished in Body Flicker Technique.
"Captain, you really know how to talk." Watching Shiina Kō gradually disappear into the distance, Yūichi walked to Shin'un's side and said:
"Even better than me..."
