Ch. 248Shikkotsu Forest

Uya decided to pursue Shikkotsu Forest’s Senjutsu as part of his plan to develop a Sage Mode suited to him. Tsunade brought him to meet Katsuyu’s main body, where he asked to learn about Senjutsu.

  • Uya studied Orochimaru’s soul-strengthening scroll and increased his soul’s strength by about a third, improving his control over chakra, his body, and the Power of Tremors.
  • Uya concluded that his chakra reserves and strengthened control made him ready to investigate Sage Mode, but he wanted to prepare carefully because he lacked a teacher.
  • Uya asked Tsunade about Shikkotsu Forest’s Senjutsu, and she offered to take him to meet Katsuyu’s main body.
  • Uya and Tsunade traveled on foot to the vast underground Shikkotsu Forest and reached Katsuyu’s enormous main body.
  • Katsuyu asked Tsunade what had brought them, and Tsunade said she wanted to learn about Senjutsu.

Ch. 249Studying Senjutsu

Uya obtained the Shikkotsu Forest Senjutsu training method from Katsuyu, but returned to Konoha to study senjutsu on his own and develop a Sage Mode suited to him. Nearly a month later, he still had few leads, though he had made a breakthrough in the Added-Weight Rock Technique.

  • Tsunade asked Katsuyu to assess whether Uya could practice senjutsu, and Katsuyu sensed his unusual physique and hidden Quake Release Kekkei Genkai.
  • Katsuyu gave Uya the Shikkotsu Forest Senjutsu training method and cautioned that she could not tell whether his body was suited to it.
  • Uya returned to Konoha with Tsunade instead of staying in Shikkotsu Forest, intending to study several Sage Modes and create one suited to himself.
  • Uya spent nearly a month studying natural energy and combining ideas from three Sage Modes, but made little progress.
  • Uya continued using the Added-Weight Rock Technique to temper his body and achieved a breakthrough in the technique.

Ch. 250The hunt

Uya learned that Bloody Hand, wielder of the Totsuka Blade, had assassinated the Daimyo of the Land of Fire and was being pursued by Konoha. After Bloody Hand escaped a force of eight Anbu jonin, Uya volunteered to hunt him down alone.

  • Uya trained with his Ultra-Added-Weight Rock Technique and continued strengthening his body.
  • Uya received word that Bloody Hand had appeared again after assassinating the Daimyo of the Land of Fire.
  • Uya consulted Konoha Anbu intelligence and followed the pursuit because he wanted to claim Bloody Hand’s Totsuka Blade.
  • Bloody Hand killed four of the eight Konoha Anbu jonin sent after him and escaped, though he was injured.
  • Uya told Konoha to leave Bloody Hand to him, prompting the High Command to recall its planned forces and Hatake Sakumo.

Ch. 251Blood Release

Uya tracked Bloody Hand through the resonance of his Kusanagi Swords and confronted him in a mountain forest. After destroying Bloody Hand’s Blood Clone and finding the real man, Uya resisted a technique that disrupted his blood flow, but Bloody Hand unleashed a golden attack from a gourd.

  • Uya used the faint resonance of his Kusanagi Swords to locate the fleeing Bloody Hand.
  • Uya raced through the forest and cut Bloody Hand in half, only for the body to turn into two corrosive blood spheres.
  • Uya destroyed the spheres with an Air Shatter and realized the Bloody Hand he had struck was a clone.
  • Uya appeared beside the real Bloody Hand at a nearby river, surprising him and explaining how he had tracked the Totsuka Blade.
  • Bloody Hand disrupted Uya’s blood flow with the Blood Body Restriction Technique, but Uya restored it with the power of tremors.
  • Bloody Hand pulled out a gourd and sent a golden streak of light hurtling toward Uya.

Ch. 252The Totsuka Blade!

Uya took the Totsuka Blade from Bloody Hand after its sealing power failed to move or harm him. He used the blade to seal Bloody Hand into the gourd and brought all three Kusanagi Swords together.

  • The Totsuka Blade’s golden light pierced Uya, but its sealing power could not pull him into the gourd.
  • Uya grabbed the sword light and wrenched the Totsuka Blade from Bloody Hand, making the gourd his own.
  • Bloody Hand tried to escape by turning into blood, but Uya pierced him with the Totsuka Blade’s sealing light.
  • The golden light sealed Bloody Hand inside the gourd, which Uya then returned to its unremarkable state.
  • Uya summoned his other two Kusanagi Swords, and the three swords hovered together.

Ch. 253Natural Energy

Uya let the three Kusanagi Swords unite, and the Totsuka Blade absorbed the other two while drawing in natural energy to forge a single weapon. As the sword began a month-long fusion, Uya used its energy flow to learn to sense natural energy and strengthened his Shockwave Sensing enough to detect it under normal conditions.

  • Uya studied the Totsuka Blade and sensed that the three Kusanagi Swords were pleading to be released from his restraint.
  • Uya stopped restraining the swords, and the Totsuka Blade swallowed the other two Kusanagi Swords through its gourd.
  • The Totsuka Blade began absorbing natural energy, and Uya learned from its merged consciousness that the three swords had originally been parts of one Six Paths weapon.
  • Uya stayed nearby while the Totsuka Blade fused and nurtured a new Kusanagi Sword, a process expected to take about a month.
  • Uya used Shockwave Sensing to perceive natural energy flowing into the Totsuka Blade, then strengthened his sensing until he could detect natural energy under normal conditions.

Ch. 254Training in Senjutsu

Uya broke through the limits of his Shockwave Sensing, learned to sense and control natural energy, and developed a Sage Mode unique to himself. After ten days of training, he successfully entered Sage Mode, marked by a red diamond between his brows.

  • Uya spent half a month strengthening his Shockwave Sensing until he could perceive natural energy and detect objects through its fluctuations.
  • Uya used Quake Release to influence natural energy, overcoming the main obstacle to creating his own Sage Mode.
  • Uya refined his rudimentary Sage Mode and began training, using the Power of Tremors to expel natural energy if it went out of control.
  • Uya absorbed natural energy while training and mastered Sage Mode after ten days.
  • A red diamond formed between Uya's brows as he entered Sage Mode.

Ch. 255Eternity

Uya tested his first-stage Sage Mode and devised a way to cultivate Hashirama Senju’s Sage Body by merging natural energy with his cells through the True Eight Gates Released Formation. He believed a Sage Body would let him open the Sixth Gate, but he still wondered what would be needed for the Seventh and Eighth Gates when the Totsuka Blade suddenly stopped absorbing natural energy.

  • Uya tested his Sage Mode with a punch that shattered the forest ahead of him.
  • Uya distinguished his first-stage Sage Mode from Hashirama Senju’s Sage Body and set his sights on cultivating the latter.
  • Uya concluded that infusing natural energy through his five opened gates could gradually transform his cells and help him open the Sixth Gate.
  • Uya considered whether Six Paths Mode would be needed to open the Seventh and Eighth Gates.
  • The Totsuka Blade beside Uya suddenly stopped absorbing natural energy.

Ch. 256The new Kusanagi Sword

After the Totsuka Blade absorbed natural energy for over a month, it exploded and revealed a golden, shape-shifting Kusanagi Sword forged from materialized chakra and natural energy. Uya tested its hammer form with his tremor power, destroying the surrounding mountains and forest and leaving an enormous crater.

  • The Totsuka Blade stopped absorbing natural energy, then cracked and exploded, unleashing a shock wave that Uya shattered before it destroyed the cavern and surrounding landscape.
  • Uya absorbed the excess natural energy released by the explosion and channeled it into the First Gate of the True Eight Gates Released Formation.
  • Uya found a golden glasslike orb at the center of the light and realized it was the newly forged Kusanagi Sword, which could transform into different weapons and a miniature Susanoo.
  • Uya transformed the orb into a huge hammer and swung it at the mountains and forest, amplifying his power of tremors.
  • Uya's blow shattered the mountains and collapsed the ground into a crater large enough to hold Konoha, with power that surpassed Super Shinra Tensei.

Ch. 257Mount Myōboku

Uya tested the power and shape-changing abilities of his new Kusanagi Sword, then headed toward Konoha while considering his growing speed and Sage Mode. He discovered a mountain range rich in natural energy and recognized it as Mount Myōboku, home of the Toad Clan.

  • Uya tested the Kusanagi Sword’s hammer and gauntlet forms, blasting a deep pit that filled with water and turned the surrounding mountains and forest into a lake.
  • Uya shrank the sword into a ring, reflected on its power and his chakra limits, and continued toward Konoha without restoring the Kusanagi surname.
  • As he traveled, Uya considered whether his speed with Soru could rival Minato Namikaze’s Flying Thunder God over short distances.
  • Uya sensed a vast mountain range with unusually dense natural energy and changed course toward it.
  • Uya recognized the mountain range as Mount Myōboku, home of the Toad Clan.

Ch. 258Dense natural energy

Uya crossed Labyrinth Mountain and entered Mount Myōboku, where he found that its dense natural energy could greatly accelerate his progress toward a Sage Body. As he began absorbing it, Gamabunta approached, forcing Uya to face an encounter with the Toad Clan.

  • Uya used Shockwave Sensing to navigate Labyrinth Mountain and absorbed the natural energy that tried to interfere with his perception.
  • Uya entered Mount Myōboku and found its natural energy denser than that of the surrounding mountains.
  • Uya discovered that he could store natural energy in the five opened gates of the True Eight Gates Released Formation, allowing it to merge into his body over time.
  • Uya estimated that repeated cycles of filling the gates and merging their energy could give him a Sage Body within a year or two.
  • Gamabunta approached Uya shortly after he entered Mount Myōboku.

Ch. 259Gamabunta

Uya encountered Gamabunta on Mount Myōboku after his powerful absorption of natural energy drew the toad’s attention. Uya pinned Gamabunta down and revealed that he had created his own Sage Mode, then stopped Gamabunta’s sword with a single finger.

  • Gamabunta sensed a disturbance in the natural energy and leaped toward its source.
  • Uya dodged Gamabunta’s landing and appeared on top of his head.
  • Gamabunta tried to throw Uya off, but Uya’s force pressed him flat against the ground.
  • Gamabunta recognized Uya’s Sage Mode and questioned where he had learned it; Uya said he had created it himself.
  • Gamabunta drew his short sword and slashed at Uya, who stopped the blade with a light finger flick.

Ch. 260Fukasaku and Shima

Uya arrived at Mount Myōboku to train in Sage Mode and fought off the toads who tried to capture him. Fukasaku and Toad Shima reached the scene and found the other toads sprawled across the ground.

  • Uya stopped Gamabunta’s sword with one finger and snapped it in half.
  • More toads arrived, recognized Uya as the source of the natural-energy disturbance, and challenged him.
  • Uya said he had come to Mount Myōboku to train in Sage Mode, angering Gamabunta and the other toads.
  • The toads charged, but Uya quickly sent them flying without continuing his attack.
  • Fukasaku and Toad Shima hurried toward the fighting while arguing about the intruder and lunch.
  • Fukasaku and Toad Shima arrived and stopped arguing when they saw the toads sprawled on the ground.

Ch. 261The two sages' shock

Uya overwhelmed the toads on Mount Myōboku while absorbing natural energy, shocking Fukasaku and Toad Shima with his unusual Senjutsu. He told them he had come to cultivate there, and they realized he was transforming his body into a Sage Body.

  • Uya defeated the toads without seriously injuring them, and Fukasaku and Toad Shima arrived to assess the scene.
  • Fukasaku and Toad Shima sensed Uya's unfamiliar Sage Mode and attacked him with Sage Art Fire Style and Wind Release.
  • Uya extinguished their flames with the power of tremors while continuing to absorb natural energy at full speed.
  • Fukasaku and Toad Shima stopped fighting and asked Uya why he had come to Mount Myōboku.
  • Uya said he wanted to cultivate Senjutsu, and Fukasaku and Toad Shima recognized that he was using natural energy to cultivate a Sage Body.

Ch. 262The Great Toad Sage's Orders

Uya entered Mount Myōboku to cultivate his Sage Body by absorbing its abundant natural energy. The Great Toad Sage ordered the toads not to interfere, and Uya began training beside the oil pool after confirming that his power of tremors could suppress natural energy.

  • Uya told Fukasaku and Toad Shima that he needed Mount Myōboku’s natural energy to cultivate his Sage Body, leaving them unable to stop him.
  • A messenger relayed the Great Toad Sage’s order to let Uya do as he wished and allow him to come and go freely.
  • The Great Toad Sage said Uya’s arrival matched visions he had seen and decided Mount Myōboku should stay out of the coming wars.
  • Uya reached the oil pool deep within Mount Myōboku and found that the special oil drew natural energy toward his hand.
  • Uya used the power of tremors to collapse the natural-energy vortex, then sat beside the pool and began training.

Ch. 263Three months

Uya completed another stage of Sage Body training at Mount Myōboku and returned toward Konoha after more than three months away. Near the village, he sensed powerful tremors and realized a fierce battle was underway.

  • Madara Uchiha learned that Uya had been missing for over three months and decided it was time to begin.
  • Uya absorbed natural energy into all five gates, completed his training session, and discovered his healing and Shockwave Sensing had improved.
  • Uya left Mount Myōboku after learning that no one had disturbed him during his training.
  • Jiraiya was shocked to learn Uya had mastered perfect Sage Mode, while Minato Namikaze stayed away to study the Flying Thunder God Technique.
  • Uya approached Konoha and sensed violent tremors, prompting him to investigate the battle inside the village.

Ch. 264The Nine-Tails goes berserk

The Nine-Tails broke free of Kushina’s control and rampaged through Konoha, forcing Hiruzen Sarutobi and the village’s strongest fighters to face it. After they briefly drove it back, the Nine-Tails formed and hurled a Tailed Beast Bomb at them.

  • The Nine-Tails emerged from the broken Eight Trigrams Seal, and Mirei Uzumaki watched from beside Minato Namikaze as Konoha suffered heavy destruction.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi faced the Nine-Tails with the Adamantine Staff, but its claw smashed him into a fissure before Hatake Sakumo cut the claw off and Hiruzen recovered.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi and Hatake Sakumo joined Danzo, Orochimaru, Jiraiya, Tsunade, and other Konoha fighters in attacking the Nine-Tails and briefly forcing it back.
  • The Nine-Tails roared and gathered chakra into a Tailed Beast Bomb as Hiruzen Sarutobi and the others realized they could not let it strike Konoha.
  • The Nine-Tails hurled the Tailed Beast Bomb toward Hiruzen Sarutobi and the assembled fighters, who moved together to stop it.

Ch. 265The terrifying Tailed Beast Bomb!

As the Nine-Tails prepared to destroy Konoha with a colossal Tailed Beast Bomb, Minato Namikaze offered to teleport it away despite the danger. Uya appeared in front of the bomb just as Minato charged toward it.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi, Hatake Sakumo, Danzo, and Orochimaru combined their strongest attacks to stop the Nine-Tails' first Tailed Beast Bomb.
  • The Nine-Tails formed a second bomb more than ten times larger, leaving the Konoha ninja convinced they could not stop it.
  • Minato Namikaze revealed that he had just learned Flying Thunder God and volunteered to teleport the bomb away, though Hiruzen Sarutobi and Jiraiya warned him of the risks.
  • As the giant bomb hurtled toward Konoha, Minato Namikaze charged forward, but Uya suddenly appeared in front of everyone.

Ch. 266Subduing the Nine-Tails

Uya arrived as the Nine-Tails attacked Konoha and effortlessly destroyed its Tailed Beast Bombs before pinning the beast to the ground. With the Nine-Tails subdued, Uya demanded that Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzo explain what had happened.

  • Uya appeared on the battlefield as the Nine-Tails launched a massive Tailed Beast Bomb toward Konoha.
  • Uya crushed the Tailed Beast Bomb inside a sphere of tremor power without letting its force spread.
  • Uya demanded an explanation from Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzo, but the Nine-Tails attacked again before anyone answered.
  • Uya broke apart the Nine-Tails' forming Tailed Beast Bomb and pinned the beast to the ground with his foot.
  • The Konoha ninja watched in shock as Uya subdued the Nine-Tails in two moves.

Ch. 267Eight Trigrams Seal

Uya suppressed the rampaging Nine-Tails and questioned Hiruzen Sarutobi and Tsunade about what had caused the outbreak. Suspecting Madara Uchiha was responsible, Uya began forcing the Nine-Tails’ chakra back toward Kushina.

  • Uya demanded an explanation for the Nine-Tails’ rampage, and Hiruzen Sarutobi and Tsunade said they did not know what had caused it.
  • Uya trusted Tsunade’s account and reasoned that Madara Uchiha could have broken the Eight Trigrams Seal and controlled the Nine-Tails.
  • The Nine-Tails attacked Uya with all nine tails, and Uya cut them apart with the Kusanagi Sword.
  • Uya used the Power of Tremors to suppress the Nine-Tails until his body collapsed into a writhing cloud of blood-red chakra.
