After the operation, he began training to improve his combat skills and settled into his role at the school while making plans for his Adamantium and spending time with Clarice and Kitty.

After Professor X died and the school chose to remain open, Chen Xiao uncovered the Sentinel deployment and joined the X-Men’s mission to stop Magneto and reach Jean.

• Chen Xiao joined Clarice and Kitty on a trip to Westchester, then learned Scott had gone to Alkali Lake and raced to intercept him before Jean awakened.
• Jean emerged from the lake and attacked Scott, but Chen Xiao’s golden-powered strike checked her until she lost consciousness and was taken back to the school.
• Chen Xiao mastered the Virtual Battlefield’s easy mode, struggled against its blade-wielding opponents, and joined the X-Men in training against Sentinels as Worthington Kedes announced a mutant suppressant.
• Jean fled the academy with her powers unleashed, and Professor X, Chen Xiao, Wolverine, and Storm went to find her while Magneto also arrived at her former home.
• Jean’s power killed Professor X, while Chen Xiao defeated Juggernaut, and the X-Men later mourned their leader and debated whether to keep the academy open.

After learning his family had been murdered, he left for Mexico with Yidileisi to confront the forces behind the attack, while suspicion of a traitor spread through the family council.

• Magneto attacked Alcatraz and fought the X-Men, while Chen Xiao destroyed Sentinels and joined the battle before learning the test subject had died.
• Trask detonated a bomb in the wreckage, unleashing Jean Grey’s Phoenix power, and Chen Xiao struggled to protect Scott as Jean devastated Alcatraz.
• Professor X’s hidden consciousness reached Jean and quelled the Phoenix Force, after which Storm’s group rescued Chen Xiao and Scott.
• Chen Xiao recovered at Xavier’s School, where Professor X returned in a new body and opened sealed mutant-laboratory records to him.

Chen Xiao consolidated his power, destroyed the Sentinel research base, and advanced his mutant research while preparing for a larger confrontation. The arc ended with him studying Mjolnir as Thor arrived at the crater and Yidileisi blocked his way.

• Chen Xiao exposed and executed Doragon, confronted Alders, and secured the seven families’ agreement to his leadership before ordering the Tailaduo Family destroyed and Trunk’s forces surrounded.
