"The people in this Great Labyrinth City have absolutely no manners!"
The capital city of the Graycast Corridor is magnificent and grand, but the drivers of the Graycast Corridor are really not to be praised.
Within just a dozen or so miles of the Great Labyrinth City, the crew of the King of Fall Resistance, I Guess encountered a series of bizarre incidents, including but not limited to cutting off other vehicles, honking horns, verbal abuse, and throwing objects at high speed—actions that would likely land them in jail in the real world.
However, these were just appetizers. During one section of the drive, a large mobile fortress kept blocking one side of the King of Fall Resistance, I Guess, almost causing a "double collision" with another medium-sized fortress for the Soul Returner.
If it weren't for the fact that the King of Fall Resistance, I Guess" had Machine Spirit that allowed it to dodge nimbly, it would most likely be a pile of scrap metal, no, scrap wood by now.
If Gray hadn't warned them beforehand about dangerous driving by their companions, the players would probably have assumed that someone had learned about them in advance and was deliberately trying to ambush them.
Logically speaking, neither Collins nor Gray and Nora had ever exhibited such a driving style.
Players could only guess that either the people from Graycast Corridor automatically became more docile after leaving the cockpit, or that the Grand Foundry Master himself was a speed demon, or perhaps there was some problem at the Old Tomb.
In short, after a series of close calls, the King of Fall Resistance, I Guess finally arrived at the gate of the Great Labyrinth City, where it was quickly stopped by a group of dedicated guards.
"Attention, small fortress ahead! Stop immediately and present your clearance or identification, or don't blame the shrug for being ruthless!"
[ Do Some Farm Work ] Watching this scene, I was reminded of the sight of the Soul Returner creating Muller's death in the underground Klaf City.
Clearly, compared to a body made of flesh and blood, the Thousand-Pound Gate does have a much stronger deterrent effect.
These things are usually installed outside or in the center of the city gate. When they fall heavily, they can instantly block everyone's way out. If they happen to hit a fortress, they can destroy it completely in one blow.
Even the King of Fall Resistance, I Guess felt a sense of fear after learning what the Thousand-Pound Gate really was.
Fortunately, the negotiation could be left to the players. [ Vanilla Ice Cream Scoop ] and [ Do Some Farm Work ] obtained the brass token with obvious cutting marks from the Short-Eared Elf.
After tossing half of the token to the guard leader, a look of surprise immediately appeared on the man's face.
He fitted the other half of the token together perfectly, and after hearing a few mechanical clicking sounds, he nodded, his attitude becoming much more respectful.
"Identity verified. Entry permitted."
With a wave of his hand, the guards behind him immediately made way, removing some of the barriers that were originally used to block the way.
The King of Fall Resistance, I Guess thus passed through the city gate, and the true Great Labyrinth City was finally revealed to everyone.
A city, primarily in shades of copper yellow and metallic gray, slowly unfolded before the crowd. A gust of wind, seemingly somewhat viscous, swept over them, catching the excited players somewhat off guard.
The smell of rusting metal replaced the fragrance of soil, and even the dust seemed to have been replaced by metal particles of similar size.
Hammering, polishing, cutting...
A cacophony of sounds surged in from all directions, filling the ears of these visitors as if they had entered a construction site, a construction site on the surface of an extraterrestrial planet—
After all, they hadn't seen a single plant since they entered the city.
"Isn't this place a bit too urbanized?"
After much deliberation, [ Do Some Farm Work ] offered this evaluation.
The other players also had expressions that said, "It's so outrageous, but it's not so bad when you think about it being World of Disorder."
One of them responded:
"I just want to know if the people in the Graycast Corridor can survive by eating metal? I haven't seen a single restaurant since I came all this way."
[ Vanilla Ice Cream Scoop ] thought for a moment and said:
"I remember hearing from several players who have been here that the people of Graycast Corridor don't consider eating a pleasure, but rather something they have to do to survive."
The player nodded in agreement.
"Yes, if I lived in an environment where the air was filled with tiny metal fragments, I wouldn't find eating enjoyable either."
"So what do you think the people in the Graycast Corridor do for leisure in their daily lives?"
Just as another player asked the question, a familiar, hoarse voice suddenly rang out:
"Um, um! Take me there!"
A tendril of vines emerged from a crack in the floor, forming a bright green arrow pointing to a spot on the left side of the road.
It was a shop next to the road, with a rather large wooden sign standing at the entrance, written in the Kingdom Language from top to bottom, "[ Old Harlun Small Fortress Maintenance Center ]".
Good grief, is this what the Machine Spirit's ability to recognize characters is for?
While everyone was internally complaining, [ Vanilla Ice Cream Scoop ] thought to himself that the King of Fall Resistance, I Guess had indeed done a lot for everyone over the past three days.
Even in the real world, driving a car continuously for three days and seventy-two hours will definitely affect its lifespan.
While the Machine Spirit can freely replace parts, it will also suffer some loss of memories.
Now that we've arrived at the Great Labyrinth City, renowned for its machinery, it wouldn't hurt to give the Machine Spirit's body some maintenance...
Meanwhile, standing next to the [ Vanilla Ice Cream Scoop ], [ Do Some Farm Work ] was thinking about another problem—
Is this a massage or a foot bath for Machine Spirit maintenance?
Does the " King of Fall Resistance, I Guess need maintenance?
One player looked at [ Do Some Farm Work ] and [ Vanilla Ice Cream Scoop ] as he spoke:
"What are our plans for the next steps?"
Seeing that the remaining three people were watching them, the two finally realized that they had effectively become the two people in the five-person team who could make decisions.
After a brief discussion, everyone decided to split up and take action.
[ Vanilla Ice Cream Scoop ] is tasked with going to Gray's uncle's house to tell a grieving old man the good news that his adopted nephew and his wife are still alive.
[ Do Some Farm Work ] is responsible for taking the documents signed by Lord Collins to the Great Labyrinth City Hall to restore Gray's household registration and eligibility to run for office.
The remaining three Soul Returner didn't have anything they were obliged to do. They were already filled with curiosity about the Great Labyrinth City, so free time was what they wanted most. They were only assigned the task of drawing a map of the surrounding area to facilitate everyone's subsequent actions.
At this moment, although Gray and his group, who were nearly a thousand miles away, were still traveling, the group that had arrived in the Great Labyrinth City ahead of time already had the illusion of starting a vacation, just like a small tour group.
Oh right, as for the King of Fall Resistance, I Guess...
After [ Vanilla Ice Cream Scoop ] gave the shopkeeper a coin, it has now begun to receive a full set of parts maintenance for Old Harlun and Little Harlun.
