Ed Adrian built Shattered Castle into a base for Soul Returners, forming trade ties and expanding the players’ role in the surrounding villages. After defeating a wooden house monster, he relocated Upperstream Village’s residents beside the castle and left Bishop Duolin and his guards in the players’ custody.
Ed founded the Second Holy See, expanded his settlement, and prepared to attack White Wax Town after discovering signs of bloodshed and imprisoned children. The players began digging toward the church’s dungeon as Ed announced that the first phase was complete and the second was about to begin.
Ed reclaimed White Wax Town, reorganized Dragonborn Village, and expanded his church and player systems as investigations and new ventures spread beyond the game. The volume ended with Ed preparing for the return of the Blood Corpses while Dark Archmage departed to investigate the damaged seal.
Ed prepared his domain for the Blood Corpse threat, recruited the Desolate Throat Tribe, and helped defeat Bennett’s forces at White Wax Town. He turned Bennett into the Antasia’s engine as Tree Worship Church crusaders approached to investigate Duolin.
Ed and the players defeated Oliver Adelaide, expanded the Second Holy See, and brought Nuolun into their campaign against the Stained Ones. The volume ends with Gray and the Soul Returner envoys opening cooperation talks in Great Labyrinth City, while the meeting remains hidden from Ed’s observation.
The Soul Returners infiltrated Fir City, rescued prisoners and orphans, and used Rat Kings and fabricated stories to pressure Antiya Lisi. Duma took over Marba and led the approaching reinforcements into the city as Ed prepared players to face stronger enemies.
Ed and the Soul Returners took Fir City, defeated Antiya Lisi’s forces, and secured the city while managing prisoners and the aftermath. Enzo became human again, and Ed learned how other races had strengthened themselves before the Demonic Tide.
Ed strengthened Fir City’s defenses, expanded the players’ campaigns, and pursued threats linked to the worlds’ growing connection. The players found buried Klaf City and began exploring it while Seraphina investigated her changing powers and Soaring Clouds’s group captured Count Luoli.
Ed and his allies uncovered the Blood Alliance’s role in the fall of Klaf City, absorbed Rosalind’s True Blood, and brought Noya to the Second Holy See. As Ed investigated the Amber Dragon and the Eternal Domain, players began organizing a militia in Black Pine City while Archbishop Luorui'er prepared to flee.
Ed’s forces captured Black Pine City and fought to break Adelaide’s seal, leading to a battle against the revived grand duke and his allies. After defeating Adelaide and reaching High Tier, Ed recovered memories that revealed he was the Creator, then woke to new duties and debts.
Ed and the Soul Returners advanced the Second Holy See, awakened a Machine Spirit, and uncovered the Eternal Domain’s plans and vampire rulers. Gray Gris returned to Great Labyrinth City to contest the Grand Foundry Master election, while the elves warned the Soul Returners to avoid direct interference.
The Soul Returners helped Gray Gris become Grand Foundry Master, while Ed awakened Great Labyrinth City’s Machine Spirit and restored Aiboke. As the Empire and Skeleton Alliance prepared for war and Soul Returners entered both sides’ plans, Ed began testing how much power could cross the weakening barrier between worlds.
Ed conquered the Holy City, brought the Theocracy under his rule, and helped Gray Gris defeat the Skeleton Alliance’s assassination plot. After Ed and Duma killed Giant Arms, Soul Returners joined the southern war while Nether Crossing inherited Giant Arms’s power and became a councilor.
Alfonso joined Nuowa’s cause as Colin and Sailesi became caught up in the widening war between the Empire, the Skeleton Alliance, and Rosalind’s forces. The stretch ended with Rosalind attacking Sailesi’s army in her monstrous worm form and swallowing [Ginseng Rooster].
The Skeleton Alliance fought for the Holy Remains in the Demon Realm, then Colin united the surviving warlords and led the stranded army home. After the council threatened his soldiers, Colin declared himself Councilor [Broken Sword] and marched on Sand Capital as [Crown] prepared to crush the rebellion.
