In the dimly lit corridor.
A figure was running quickly, opening the door of each room he passed to peek inside.
As he moved forward, there were also a series of cold laughs.
"Ha... did you think you'd be safe just by hiding in the dark?"
"You have seriously underestimated me, the guardian of this Blue Star! Everything will have nowhere to hide under my gaze!"
"Just wait, when I find you, you will..."
" Wei Leyang, you've gone too far! There's a Stone Fire Ant in one of the rooms you just passed!" The words that suddenly came through the earpiece interrupted Wei Leyang's thoughts.
Wei Leyang paused slightly, raised his hand to turn on the communication on his headset, and said with some surprise:
"Did you miss it? I just checked, I didn't!"
"I don't know, I can only hear the sound. I don't know what the structure of your building is like, but anyway, in one of the one or two houses you just passed, there was a Stone Fire Ant in one of them. Go and take a look!" Shen Heng's reply came through the earpiece.
"Is that so...?"
Wei Leyang muttered something to himself, then turned and walked back.
He arrived at the door of the previous room and looked inside again.
Just like he had seen before, there was nothing left in the messy room.
His gaze swept carefully around the room, finally settling on a spot towards the back.
There was another door there, but because it was too far inside and the room was dark, he hadn't seen it clearly just now.
Is he inside? How dare they humiliate me like this... Filled with rage, Wei Leyang walked straight toward the door.
He nimbly walked to the door, raised his hand and placed it on the doorknob. As he pressed down on the doorknob, the door slowly opened.
As the door opened, what first caught his eye was not the scene inside the room, but the ever-enlarging head of Stone Fire Ant that swooped down towards him.
"Heh, so he can even launch sneak attacks..." Wei Leyang muttered to himself, his right hand slowly rotating as it fell vertically.
With a series of hissing sounds, the Stone Fire Ant that had been swooping down suddenly stopped in mid-air.
Its body twisted and turned incessantly, as if trying to break free from something, but to no avail; its body remained suspended in mid-air.
A gentle breeze blew, slightly parting the curtains by the window, allowing a few rays of moonlight to fall upon the doorway.
One after another, silk threads shimmered with a faint silver light and wrapped around the Stone Fire Ant's body.
The Stone Fire Ant struggled to twist its head, facing Wei Leyang, its mandibles open.
"Roar--"
Bang! Bang!
Before the roar could be clearly heard, the Stone Fire Ant's head fell straight off.
All that remained were the blood-dripping thread and that one sound.
"Aton for everything you've done..."
"I've already killed three. How about you?"
Han Ling's voice came through the earpiece.
"Two!" Wei Leyang replied.
Shen Heng glanced at the corpse with the long sword still stuck in its flesh on the ground and replied:
"Four!"
"Hiss--" Han Ling gasped, "Wait, why are you, a First Tier cultivator, the one who killed the most?"
"Killing them a lot isn't difficult; the trouble is finding them. Although I gave you some hints, it's still easier for me to find them myself!" Shen Heng replied.
"Well, that's true, but it still feels strange that we Tier 2 people haven't killed as many as you, a First Tier person!" Han Ling said, still somewhat dissatisfied.
Shen Heng ignored Han Ling's words and moved his hand holding the long sword.
Crackling sound...
The longsword rubbed against the hard exoskeleton of the Stone Fire Ant a few times before being slowly withdrawn.
Sheathing his longsword, Shen Heng glanced at the man and woman peeking through a crack in the door not far away.
"Go inside and stay quietly until someone comes to let you know."
"Okay, okay!"
The two responded repeatedly, and with a click, the door was locked again.
"Was that a police officer?"
"I don't know, but it should be about the same!"
So, does that mean we're actually safe?
"Hmm, I think..."
The words, though not direct, were still clear and reached Shen Heng's ears. He glanced at the closed door, then turned and walked toward his next target.
On the way, he suddenly stopped, turned his head, and looked straight to the upper right.
In the dimly lit room.
Yan Sheng glanced around the room.
A dozen or so people huddled in twos and threes in what they considered safe corners.
Some people crouched in the corner, some huddled under the table, and others gathered several pieces of equipment together and then crawled into the hole in the middle of the equipment.
Of course, Yan Sheng also hid in a place he considered safe: under the window.
If those ants rush in again and he can't escape, he's prepared to jump.
Although it's a bit high up here, it's still better than being eaten.
There were two others hiding here like him: Kong Haochen and a short-haired girl named Zhang Danzhen.
Yan Sheng's gaze swept around the room, finally settling on a figure whose body was trembling slightly, with a girl beside her gently comforting her.
"Okay, Qimei, don't cry, it's alright now!"
"What do you mean 'nothing'? Aren't we still hiding here?" Fan Qimei said, turning her head somewhat angrily.
"But we're alright now, aren't we?" the girl next to her continued to comfort her.
"What's the use if nothing happens now? What if the ants rush in again later?"
The girl next to him was speechless for a moment.
Fan Qimei continued, "We just finished the college entrance exam, and we haven't even had a few days to relax. How could something like this happen!"
"And I was supposed to go on my high school graduation trip in a few days, but now..."
Fan Qimei grew angrier as she spoke, and she suddenly turned her head to look directly at the figure of a boy.
" He Wenhao, it's all your fault in the end! If you hadn't suggested coming over, I would have already gone home!"
"What does this have to do with me?" He Wenhao muttered.
"How dare you say that? We were originally going to the other side, but you kept suggesting we come here, which is why we ran into this mess!" Fan Qimei shouted angrily.
Upon hearing this, the people around seemed to remember the incident as well, and they all turned their gazes over.
Although they didn't say anything, He Wenhao could still sense the resentment in their eyes.
"So what do you want?" He Wenhao asked, equally angry.
"You're the one who caused this, so you'd better deal with it. Go out and kill them all!" Fan Qimei pointed to the door.
"Ha... what are you talking about? You saw how big that ant was, didn't you? Do you think a normal person could handle that?"
