5:38 PM.
Shen Heng stood at the entrance of the Supervision Bureau headquarters.
What appeared before him was a building much larger than the Linhai Supervision Bureau.
The building is predominantly gray-white, with a porch in front and two unit nameplates hanging high on either side.
Great Xia Public Security Supervision Ministry!
Capital Public Security Supervision Bureau!
Shen Heng glanced at the two unit nameplates hanging on the side, not surprised at all.
The Capital Supervision Bureau is not the same as the Supervision Bureau Headquarters.
The Capital Supervision Bureau is primarily responsible for handling incidents involving Calamity Beast in Capital.
The headquarters of the Supervision Bureau oversees all relevant departments that overlap with the two sectors, including local Supervision Bureau, the Research Department, and the Logistics Department.
However, since they are all in Capital and the number of members in the Supervision Bureau is not large, they are all arranged in one place.
Shen Heng lifted his leg and walked inside.
Upon entering, you are greeted by a spacious lobby with three reception windows directly in front.
Shen Heng glanced at one of the occupied windows, then walked towards the other two empty windows.
"Hello, I'm here representing the Linhai Supervision Bureau of Lingnan Province to attend the two-day meeting. I'd like to confirm the meeting time!" Shen Heng handed over his credentials.
The receptionist took the identification, checked it against the computer, and then smiled:
"Hello, Comrade Shen Heng, the meeting is scheduled for the 25th, at 9:00 AM in the Mountain and River Hall!"
Shen Heng nodded, and the receptionist continued:
Do you need accommodation arranged?
"Need!"
"Okay, just a moment, I'll register you!"
The receptionist was operating the computer.
A moment later, she took out a card from the side and handed it back along with her identification.
"Your room is located in the Lakeside Center. It's about 500 meters to the right after you exit the building. The room is on the 10th floor, and the room number is 1003!"
"Okay, thank you!" Shen Heng took the documents and cards.
"If you need a meal, there is a restaurant on the second floor of the Lakeside Center. Breakfast is served from 6:00 to 9:00, lunch from 11:00 to 13:00, and dinner from 17:00 to 19:00!" the receptionist continued with a smile.
Shen Heng nodded his thanks.
He put the items in his pocket, stood up, and turned to walk outside.
As soon as he stepped out of the headquarters of the Supervision Bureau, Shen Heng stopped and looked at a person standing by the door.
It was a short-haired man who was nearly two meters tall, with a somewhat rugged face, wearing a black short-sleeved shirt, and with his muscles bulging high.
He was the person who just asked a question at the other window.
As Shen Heng emerged, the man walked towards him, his deep voice booming.
"Hello, I just heard you're also from Lingnan Province, is that right?"
Shen Heng understood slightly. He nodded and asked, "You too?"
"Yes, I'm from Haizhou City!" the man said with a smile.
Haizhou City and Linhai are not adjacent; they are separated by two cities, but they are indeed both in Lingnan Province.
Shen Heng nodded slightly and extended a hand.
" Shen Heng, Tier 1, his ability is Hearing Enhancement!"
Upon hearing Shen Heng's self-introduction, a hint of surprise flashed in the man's eyes, but he still reached out and shook hands with him.
" Cao Mingyu, Tier 2, his ability is Physical Fitness Enhancement!"
Physical Fitness Enhancement?
Shen Heng nodded slightly and separated his hands from hers.
This was the first time he had encountered someone with similar abilities to his own, someone who enhanced his physical functions. Well, no, he had only ever met a handful of ability users.
"Is your ability to enhance the body in all aspects?" Shen Heng asked with some curiosity.
"Yes, when using abilities, whether it's strength, speed, defense, or perception, everything will be enhanced in all aspects, but the main benefits will be in strength and speed!" Cao Mingyu explained.
"He seems very strong," Shen Heng said.
"Hahaha... It's alright. It's strong in some ways, but not so strong in others. This ability allows me to fight against stronger opponents, but against weaker opponents, they can also put up a fight with me!" Cao Mingyu laughed, not minding revealing his own shortcomings at all.
Shen Heng nodded slightly; he understood this to some extent.
Unless one is exceptionally gifted, for an average person, being well-rounded simply means being mediocre.
On the contrary, those who specialize in a certain area are more likely to bring out their advantages, like Han Ling. When facing Calamity Beast of the same level, as long as her attack hits, the opponent will either die or be crippled.
Of course, mediocrity isn't entirely bad. For an individual, mediocrity does have some advantages, meaning you have the opportunity to handle any situation.
Let's take Han Ling as an example again. In the last Stone Fire Ant incident, the captain initially didn't let her in because her abilities were too extreme. It wasn't until later, after confirming that the creatures above were just ordinary First Tier and wouldn't pose a significant threat to her, that she was allowed to enter.
"That's still very impressive!" Shen Heng said with a smile.
"It's nothing. But you, at just the First Tier, have already been assigned to this meeting by your captain. It seems your captain trusts you a lot!" Cao Mingyu said with a smile.
"Didn't they say the captain can't just leave?" Shen Heng asked Cao Mingyu.
"The captain can't just leave, but when it comes to calling someone to a meeting at headquarters, we usually ask someone with more seniority, usually someone at Tier 2," Cao Mingyu explained.
"So First Tier ones are very rare, is that right?" Shen Heng nodded slightly.
"Yes, it'll only be a little bit more than Third Tier!" Cao Mingyu nodded. "That's why I was a little surprised when I heard you were First Tier!"
"Perhaps it's because I happened to have some business to attend to in Capital these past few days, so they arranged for me to come along as well," Shen Heng said with a smile.
"So that's how it is..."
The two chatted as they walked toward the Lakeside Center.
After arriving at the Lakeside Center, Shen Heng first had a meal with Cao Mingyu in the restaurant on the second floor before returning to their respective rooms.
Shen Heng glanced at the furnishings inside the house, then walked to the edge of the balcony.
He picked up his phone and made a call; a moment later, the call was answered.
"Hey, Xiao Heng, how's it going? Have you found a place to stay?" Xu Yuqin's voice came through the phone.
"Okay, don't worry, I'm already at the hotel, I'll be going back in a couple of days!"
"Okay, that's good..."
After telling his mother he was safe, Shen Heng put down the phone.
It was the height of summer, and six o'clock in the evening wasn't quite enough for Capital to get dark, but the sky had eventually darkened considerably.
Shen Heng gazed at the scenery before him for a while, then sat cross-legged and began to cultivate.
A day passed in the blink of an eye. Just when Shen Heng thought he would calmly wait until the 25th, attend the meeting, and then go back, there was a knock on his door.
Shen Heng pressed the doorknob and pushed the door open, looking at Cao Mingyu and the others standing in front of him with some confusion.
"This is?"
"Brother Shen Heng, these are representatives from various cities in Lingnan. I thought since we're all from Lingnan, it would be good to go out for a meal and get to know each other!" Cao Mingyu said with a smile.
Shall we go out and meet someone?
After thinking it over for a moment, Shen Heng did not refuse and followed the others outside.
Led by Cao Mingyu, after calling on representatives from the remaining two cities, the group found a roadside restaurant and sat down.
