A Monster of Origin Power
Yu Chunhe spoke, she turned her head to glance out the window, then quickly turned back, her voice trembling with tears, and said:
"Mr. Shen Heng, please save my brother! I beg you!"
Why did it suddenly turn out like this?
Shen Heng lowered his eyes slightly.
There are only two possibilities for it to suddenly turn out like this.
One type is parasitized by Calamity Beast, and the other is...
His gaze shifted, turning to the tall figure wielding Greatsword still locked in combat in the distance.
Could the failed awakening have led to the loss of control over the Origin Power, resulting in physical Distortion...?
So, this is what the captain once said.
Will it transform into a monster powered by Origin Power?
"Mr. Shen Heng, please, please save my brother!! Please!" Yu Chunhe was still pleading.
Shen Heng withdrew his gaze and looked at the girl in front of him, who was once again shedding tears.
He opened his mouth as if to say something, but then he didn't know what he could say.
Yu Zhenzhong looked at Shen Heng and seemed to understand something.
He took a deep breath and said:
Is there any hope for him?
Upon hearing this, Yu Chunhe paused in his actions.
She didn't speak again, and her body showed no sign of moving.
She just stood there, clutching Shen Heng Shen Heng's sleeve, staring at him with wide eyes.
The remaining people around also started talking.
"Yes, can you save him? If it weren't for him, many more people would probably be dead today."
"Yes, inspector, can you help him?"
Shen Heng did not reply. He glanced silently at Yu Chunhe's father, then looked down at the girl who was staring intently at him.
He sighed softly and said:
"Feel sorry!"
Upon hearing this, the surroundings instantly fell silent.
Yu Chunhe's lips trembled, but no sound came out; tears quickly welled up in her eyes...
The restaurant is on the road leading to the battlefield.
Le Gu Nan stayed close to Shen Heng.
"What was that just now?"
Shen Heng paused for a moment, then looked up at the figure wielding the sword.
"This is Yu Jingming."
Le Gu Nan followed Shen Heng's gaze and was then slightly taken aback.
"Why... did it turn out like this?"
"It was probably to protect his family, and then he forced himself to awaken. After the awakening failed, he pushed the Calamity Beast out before his consciousness completely faded," Shen Heng said.
Upon hearing this, Le Gu Nan unconsciously clenched his fists slightly and asked, "Is there no other way?"
"There's no other way. If there were a way, headquarters wouldn't have set the limit of only three awakening attempts as a verification restriction." Shen Heng let out a sigh of relief.
"It's only fighting that Calamity Beast Calamity Beast now because it was the closest to it after its consciousness completely faded."
"If he can defeat and kill that Calamity Beast, all he'll do is choose his next target."
"So what do we do now?" Le Gu Nan asked in a low voice.
Shen Heng raised his eyes and looked at the two figures still entangled together in front of him.
"Leave him to me!"
Le Gu Nan bit her lower lip and nodded gently.
"Roar--"
A piercing roar erupted.
Just as the Greatsword was raised high and about to strike, a stone cone suddenly pierced through the air in front of him.
Both the man and the beast stopped what they were doing and looked in the direction from which the stone cone had been shot.
The short-haired girl ran to the side near the Rotting Guinea Pig.
Another figure walked over silently.
A deep roar came from the sword-wielding figure.
He glanced at the Rotting Guinea Pig that had already been lured away, then turned and headed towards the figure walking straight towards him.
The clanging sound of long swords dragging on the ground rang out continuously.
Shen Heng did not draw his sword.
He stood there, watching the dark red giant walking towards him.
Origin Power surged within the opponent's body, Distortion roar squeezed out from the gaps in the helmet, and the Greatsword dragged on the ground, scraping against the ground with a piercing metallic scraping sound.
Yu Jingming.
Shen Heng murmured the name, as if confirming something, or perhaps anticipating something.
However, all that answered him was the whistling Greatsword.
"Bang--!"
The ground cracked and debris flew everywhere.
Shen Heng leaped backward.
At the same time, an extremely violent inner voice echoed in his ears.
"Die! Die! Die--!"
Shen Heng landed and quickly took a few steps back.
He raised his gaze, watching the figure raise the long sword once more.
Although he knew it wouldn't work, he still couldn't resist giving it a try... Shen Heng let out a soft sigh.
Amidst the clanging sounds of friction, the Greatsword was raised once more.
This time it was a diagonal slash, with even greater force than before. The blade sliced through the air, emitting a sharp buzzing sound.
This time, Shen Heng did not dodge.
The long sword was drawn in an instant, and the next moment...
"Clang!"
Sparks flew as metal clashed in the night.
Then.
"Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang..."
The blade flashed repeatedly in front of the two men.
Feeling the relentless force of the counterattacks coming from the longsword, his eyes lowered slightly.
The moves before me were somewhat modified, yet they felt strangely familiar.
Even if something goes out of control and Distortion, do the original memories still remain in the body?
"Call--"
The Greatsword came hurtling in, accompanied by a fierce gale.
This time, Shen Heng did not raise his sword to resist.
He jumped back two steps.
With a 'bang', the Greatsword once again embedded itself in the ground.
However, just as he tried to lift it up, a foot landed on the Greatsword.
The Greatsword trembled slightly, but showed no sign of lifting up.
This was the first time Shen Heng had used power exceeding that of his opponent in the entire battle.
Then.
"Bang!"
Accompanied by a clean kick.
The Greatsword suddenly flew out of his hand, and the dark red giant fell backward to the ground.
In the blink of an eye, Shen Heng appeared next to the dark red giant.
The long sword was raised vertically, then fell...
Looking at the long sword suspended in mid-air and listening to the still violent inner voice in his ear, Shen Heng smiled bitterly.
Without further hesitation, he plunged his longsword straight into the head of the dark red giant.
The tyrannical voice gradually subsided...
Shen Heng remained in that position for a long while before slowly drawing his long sword.
As the Origin Power within his body dissipated, the armor that was originally formed from the Origin Power gradually dissipated, revealing the young man's original calm face.
Shen Heng stood silently watching from the side, feeling a heaviness in his heart.
This was the first time someone he knew had died...
He thought of the incident at the seafood market, the escalating invasion from the Ruins Realm, and the people around him...
Yu Chunhe walked over at some point.
She didn't make a sound, but two teardrops kept streaming down her cheeks.
She knelt down beside Yu Jingming, her body trembling slightly.
After a long silence, a voice, tinged with tears yet exceptionally firm, finally rang out.
"Mr. Shen Heng, if I awaken my abilities, can I join the Supervision Bureau?"
(ps:
Sigh, I wrote seven or eight thousand words, and after deleting and revising, only four thousand remained.
I originally intended to write from Yu Jingming's perspective;
The father argued about whether or not Yu Chunhe should join the Supervision Bureau.
Because in the storyline, he had witnessed many scenes of people dying in battles against Calamity Beast.
I once witnessed the deaths of other local Supervision Bureau fighting against the Calamity Beast when I went to teach in other provinces.
The seafood market incident demonstrated the utter helplessness of ordinary martial artists against high-level Calamity Beast;
I occasionally hear from the Martial Arts Association that someone from one of the hunting squads has been killed...
For these reasons, he had always been reluctant to let his younger sister Yu Chunhe, join the Supervision Bureau, and had been working hard to do so.
But the sudden attack by the Calamity Beast still disrupted everything.
From mustering the courage to step forward, to the desperate resistance despite being severely wounded, and finally to the last desperate attempt.
Unfortunately, it failed.
Then came these two chapters.
After thinking about it again, I decided against it; writing it that way would just take another chapter or two.
However, writing it this way now feels a bit abrupt, and the emotion isn't quite there.
Alas, it all comes down to my poor writing skills.
That's enough, I'm tired.
I'll write about the rat infestation in Linhai, and then it'll be all-out confrontation.
