Headquarters divides cultivation into nine tiers, but the system is an inference drawn from research into Origin Power, humans, and Calamity Beasts. Cultivation methods and breakthrough requirements are discovered progressively rather than fully understood from the outset 397.

Nature and Properties

• Reality alteration: Origin Power can directly alter reality. Sufficient stimulation of the human brain awakens an ability unique to the individual 4.
• Physical properties: Research identifies fluidity, plasticity, and interactivity alongside instability, restlessness, and corrosiveness 92.
• Appearance: Ambient Origin Power is described as tiny, glowing white specks. Concentrated or manipulated power commonly appears as lustrous white light, mist, strands, or threads 179 260 393 549.
• Instability: Some Origin Power escapes control during circulation. Contact with the outside world makes it more restless and prone to dissipation 92.
• Conversion into abilities: Flames, water, and other ability effects ultimately come from converted Origin Power. Abilities provide the mechanism that performs this conversion 179 239.

Absorption and Cultivation

Sensing and Replenishment

• The Heavenly Cycle Breathing Technique allows practitioners to sense and draw in external Origin Power 17.
• An awakened person already has Origin Power inside their body, giving them a reference when attempting to sense it outside themselves 228.
• Shen Heng’s body naturally replenishes Origin Power after exhaustion; his passive Hearing Enhancement resumes shortly afterward 19.
• Absorption becomes faster at higher tiers 397.

Body Tempering

• Origin Power strengthens the body through gradual tempering. During Five Animal Fist practice, Shen Heng experiences warmth, pain, and itching as muscle fibers tear and regrow 19.
• Bones must also be tempered incrementally. Pouring too much Origin Power into them at once can cause damage instead of improvement 40.
• Crystal-assisted cultivation follows a repeating cycle: temper the body → exhaust Origin Power → replenish from Origin Crystals → temper again. Absorbing a crystal is therefore replenishment, not an automatic increase in cultivation 602.
• Daily body tempering has a critical point; an abundant crystal supply does not remove that limit 500.

Origin Power Affinity

• Affinity testing sends a wisp of Origin Power through the subject’s body and measures how much returns. The device calculates affinity from how much power the body depletes 228.
• Recorded results include Wu Yueting at 43%, Lin Mo at 68%, and another student at 78% 228.
• Whether greater affinity makes Origin Power easier to sense remains an open question in Shen Heng’s observations 228.

Applications

Ability Awakening and Evolution

• Awakening requires Origin Power to stimulate the brain. The standard procedure uses an Origin Crystal one tier above the practitioner, placed against the forehead 275.
• Repeated ability use builds Synchronization between the body and ability. Once synchronized, a large quantity of Origin Power can stimulate evolution 134.
• Below B-Class, Synchronization is the stated prerequisite for evolution; from B-Class upward, additional insight is required 769.
• Frequent ability use spends Origin Power that could otherwise support cultivation, potentially slowing tier advancement 134.
• The higher-tier crystal rule is not absolute: at higher ranks, a sufficiently large gap within the same tier can supply enough Origin Power. This is barely possible at the fifth tier 769.

Physical Enhancement and Protection

• Coating the body, fists, feet, or weapons with Origin Power increases their effectiveness. Directly coating a fist is powerful but initially costly for Shen Heng, who cannot reclaim the attached energy 91.
• Origin Power strengthens bodily tissues and protects them during demanding techniques such as Sevenfold Force 274.
• It can resist and neutralize outside influences acting on the body, including both harmful and beneficial effects 443.
• The Hard-Armored Salamander uses Origin Power to stop bleeding after losing part of a forelimb 716.

Combat Techniques

Combat techniques manipulate Origin Power through the body or weapons using particular routes, frequencies, flow rates, and quantities. Headquarters evaluates them in five grades: D, C, B, A, and S 52.

• Flow: Maintains steady whole-body circulation, improving physical performance and allowing nearby Origin Power to move toward an impact. Its preliminary form dissipates when Shen Heng tests its defense 105 439.
• Flow · Overclock: Makes circulating Origin Power vibrate at a consistent high frequency for much greater bodily enhancement. Maintaining that frequency is the difficult part 332.
• Weapon techniques: Channel Origin Power through an external weapon. These are harder to develop into high-grade techniques because precise control outside the body is difficult 52.
• Projected attacks and constructs: Origin Power can form blades, shields, light projectiles, and explosive spheres 397 716 829.

Reproducing Ability Structures

• Li Daoyi describes research into directly converting Origin Power into different abilities, rather than relying entirely on an innate conversion mechanism 179.
• Shen Heng recognizes Profitable Golden Spear as an Origin Power structure he could potentially learn. Its attack uses 23 threads, while he can stably control only 17 at the time 671 672.
• Adding an eighteenth thread destabilizes his entire construction, demonstrating that understanding an ability’s structure does not guarantee sufficient control to reproduce it 672.

Control and Detection

Control Training

• Better Origin Power control reduces the mental effort required to control an ability 178.
• After reaching the clear and pure spirit platform, Shen Heng’s shaping becomes much more precise and he can sustain Flow throughout the day 217.
• By the time Shen Heng investigates Origin Prohibition, Origin Power control training has become a compulsory course in Great Xia 829.

Tier Detection and Concealment

• Origin Power naturally seeps from creatures that contain it. Denser leakage generally indicates larger reserves, allowing people who sense Origin Power to estimate another creature’s tier 259.
• Fine control suppresses this leakage. After six months of branch training, Shen Heng believes even a fourth-tier observer might fail to identify his true tier 259.
• Concealment is not perfect during combat: uncontrolled spillover can still reveal an approximate tier 411.
• Headquarters distributes the Concealment combat technique to soldiers for ambush operations, alongside measures to hide sound and visual presence 631.

Origin Power Configurations

A configuration manages the explosive increase in Origin Power associated with the fourth-tier breakthrough. It must allow newly absorbed power to enter smoothly and stored power to be drawn out smoothly 390 397.

• There is no strict hierarchy among configurations; suitability depends on fighting style, although their efficiencies differ 390.
• A normal configuration can be replaced by building another beside it, gradually transferring power, and removing the original 390.
• The fourth-tier transition increases reserves by more than tenfold. Without adequate management, that sudden increase can cause Origin Power to rampage and damage the body 389.
• Shen Heng estimates that his fourth-tier reserves would be approximately 13 times his third-tier reserves before accounting for the locked portion 397.

Efficiency Measurements

Under otherwise equivalent conditions, Yan Yu estimates that Shen Heng’s pure Origin Power attacks would be 20–30% stronger than those of someone scoring 75 in every category. Actual combat also depends on attack method, ability level, and environment 424.

Storage, Materials, and Transfer

• Origin Crystals: Origin Power condenses into crystals after humans or Calamity Beasts die. Specialized extractors retrieve the energy from fallen humans without the dismemberment used on beasts 384.
• Spirit-Gathering Arrays: Use connected Origin Crystals. Drooping Willow bark reduces dissipation along the connections, though heavier circulation increases losses 114.
• Origin Power rooms: Combine Origin Crystals and Spirit-Gathering Arrays to produce concentrations three to five times the outside level. Exhausted trainees who normally need three or four hours to recover may replenish in an hour or less 156.
• Origin Power Alloy: Conductive, hard, ductile material used for weapons and equipment. Its listed price is 5 points per kilogram 52.
• Origin Ore: Naturally gathers Origin Power in the Ruins Realm and contains impure crystals. Refining makes them usable; the unrefined ore can also fuel inscriptions 912 952.
• Source Cores: Distinct from Origin Crystals. Their cold, heavy energy can directly temper the body after its corrosiveness is removed; Shen Heng uses Origin Power to draw it out and perform that separation 602.
• External reserves: Zhou Xuan’s abilities use an energy storage pool charged from crystals, Source Cores, or other energy-bearing materials. Activation also spends his own Origin Power, and the pool’s normal limit roughly equals his personal reserves 671 674.

Temporary Origin Power Transfer Agreement

• Cao Yiyi’s contract transfers over 90% of her Origin Power to Zhou Xuan in exchange for complete feedback of the combat memories and sensations produced through its use 751.
• Only energy quantity transfers—not tier, talent, or abilities. Effectiveness remains limited by the borrower’s proficiency and abilities 751.
• Signatories press Origin Power-coated fingers onto the contract, which identifies them through their energy 751.
• Zhou Xuan receives roughly seven times his own reserves, but can contain the borrowed power for only a few minutes 751.

Hazards and Limitations

Failed Awakening

• After an ordinary person fails to awaken, unused Origin Power remains in the body and dissipates slowly. It can cause stiffness, awkward movement, and a sense of separation from the body while gradually altering it 56.
• A failed awakening can also cause uncontrolled Origin Power and bodily mutation into a monster 343.

Origin Prohibition and Distortion

• Shen Heng names the force affecting Origin Power near the Light Gate Origin Prohibition. Its influence grows as more Origin Power is mobilized 829.
• Failure to suppress the disturbance can cause Distortion. The Coiled Ox loses control, develops bodily cracks, enlarged muscles, and incomplete armor before attacking in a violent state 829.
• Restricted ability use can favor Calamity Beasts’ stronger physiques, though forcing either side to expend more power risks escalating the instability 829.
• Shen Heng’s closed-loop configuration automatically suppresses the disturbance, allowing him to use Origin Power freely where others are restricted 827 866.

Material Interactions

• Dull Star Stone resists Origin Power. Strong control can force some energy into resistant ore, but less effectively than into ordinary rock 905 961.
• Origin Ore is comparatively fragile: breaking it carelessly releases its stored power. Safe extraction requires severing its internal Origin Power connections before removal 961.
• Certain awakened trees withstand Origin Power explosions unusually well and become more active after being struck 1029.
