Chapter 11
After Chen Muyu finished speaking, silence still hung over the dining table.
This time, however, it was an eerie, deathly silence.
Even fewer people spoke.
Some had still been eating elegantly with impeccable manners just moments ago, but now that this question had been raised, even their cutlery stopped moving.
A strange wordlessness hung over the Fu Family's dining table.
At this point, even Chen Muyu could not help growing impatient.
Her children still refused to open their hearts to one another. How could this be allowed to continue?
Her daughter-in-law was right. What the Fu Family actually lacked was communication. They stayed silent around their own siblings, yet spoke freely with outsiders, ultimately giving those outsiders an opening.
The best way to dismantle a family was to sow discord within it. Their enemies had used precisely this method to destroy the Fu Family.
But she knew her own children. If their personalities could be changed so easily, they would not be her children.
An idea occurred to Chen Muyu. Since everyone intended to remain silent, she would force them to voice their opinions and assess their performance based on what each person said.
For example, if Fu Yichu really got into a car accident, everyone would have to offer their opinions, and the siblings would work together to investigate the true culprit. If Fu Yichu, Fu Huaiyan, and Fu Qingshu all communicated immediately to resolve the matter, without concealing the facts, admitting their mistakes and handling things fairly and impartially, then tragedy would not occur.
It was easy to say, but actually doing it would be difficult. After all, they had been heaven's favored children since childhood, proud by nature, with strong self-respect and stubborn attitudes toward certain matters.
At times like this, they needed to be forced into it. After all, Chen Muyu had no other option. When grown children refused to listen, a little thunderous force was necessary.
Su Wanqiao was extremely shocked by Chen Muyu's sudden question. She had only just thought of this herself, and her mother-in-law had suddenly brought it up. Could she guess what she was thinking? How strange. It had to be a coincidence.
[Luckily, I've eaten my fill. No matter how oppressive the atmosphere gets, it can't stop me from eating.]

The Fu Family members at the table had finished reading all the information-packed inner thoughts Su Wanqiao had expressed over the meal.
Some had towering waves surging within them, some were trembling inside, and others were gripped by fear at what might have happened. In short, after Chen Muyu asked her question, it was not that they deliberately refused to speak.
Rather, they did not know what to say right away.
First of all, although the Fu Family had seen Su Wanqiao's inner thoughts, they never offered personal opinions on unverified statements, so they could only silently digest the enormous amount of information.
Moreover, in every story, their roles all seemed equally vicious, foolish, selfish, and love-brained-tool characters played for fools by others.
It seemed their existence served only to highlight how wonderful the male and female leads were. Although none of them accepted this inwardly, whenever the leads appeared, they would strangely influence their states of mind.
Even if these absurd events had not happened yet, they could very well become reality.
There was also the fact that none of them knew whether the others could hear her inner thoughts as they could.
This created what was known as an information gap.
Thus, there was no way to explain the matter, and only silence remained at the dining table.
In addition, Chen Muyu's question suddenly made her children realize something.
Their mother could also hear what Su Wanqiao was thinking, which gave them even more room for speculation.
Since their mother knew Su Wanqiao's inner thoughts, could the others know them too?
So everyone fell silent again, each afraid that offering an opinion would let the others see through them.
Fu Huaiyan, meanwhile, coldly observed his younger siblings from the sidelines. Every one of them was full of schemes, unwilling to let the others see through them and refusing to reveal their true intentions first.
Su Wanqiao had seen things very clearly. She understood the Fu Family even better than he had imagined. Had he not heard her inner thoughts, he would never have known she was so observant, or that her ideas hit the nail on the head so precisely.
Still, this was a common ailment among great families. The infighting in other wealthy families was even worse.
But this situation was indeed wrong. The solution was to have everyone begin trusting, relying on, and helping one another.
And so, after a long silence.
Fu Huaiyan was the first to speak.
"Mom, if we're talking about what's on our minds, I want to ask about the Gu Family. Are we breaking off the engagement because there's something wrong with them? Besides, I think this is a matter of great importance. We have to make the Gu Family give us an explanation."
Chen Muyu was pleased. Her eldest son truly put her mind at ease. His natural leadership ability made him perfectly suited to managing the others.
"Yes. I held back before out of concern for appearances, but after thinking it over carefully, I felt it was very necessary for all of you to know about this. Reflect on this matter, examine yourselves, learn, communicate, and then plan how to retaliate against the Gu Family, so the rest of you can avoid falling into similar traps in the future."
After saying this, Chen Muyu tossed a folder onto the table. Once everyone had finished reading its contents, their expressions shifted slightly.
Some were even suppressing fury inside.
Although they had already learned of Gu Minghan's sexual orientation through Su Wanqiao's inner thoughts, seeing the actual evidence still made them furious that the Fu Family had been played for fools.
If Fu Siyao really married into the Gu Family knowing nothing, it would be no different from a lamb entering a tiger's jaws. Coupled with Gu Minghan's own vicious nature and his use of threats and inducements against Fu Siyao, the fate awaiting her was easy to imagine.
With this matter spurring them into action, the other Fu children no longer remained silent and instead began offering their opinions one after another.
Fu Yichu suddenly said, "Although we're breaking off the engagement this time, we also have to make the Gu Family give up some benefits. We can't let them off so easily."
Fu Yunqi added, "The Gu Family cares so much about its reputation that they definitely won't want this getting out. We can use this to make them bleed heavily."
