Background / History

Su Wanqiao was originally a novelist who read webnovels to broaden her reading and was familiar with their conventions. After staying up late reading the wealthy-family romance Young Master Gu’s Beloved Wife, she awakened inside the body of a character with the same name: the wife of Fu Huaiyan, South City’s richest man and the novel’s principal villain. She inherited the original woman’s memories and arrived around the time of her hospitalization following a suicide attempt 2.

The original Su Wanqiao was intensely attached to Fu Huaiyan, despite their distant marriage. Her repeated suicide threats had damaged her reputation and worsened her relationship with her mother-in-law, Chen Muyu. Her intended ending was expulsion from the Fu Family, a substantial breakup payment, and permanent exile abroad—not the bankruptcy and destruction awaiting the rest of the family 2 3 10.

The transmigrated Su Wanqiao initially regarded that departure as an attractive escape. Already possessing assets as the Su Family’s daughter, she planned to maintain the devoted-wife act until she could collect her payout and leave. She did not realize that the Fu Family could see her private thoughts, including her knowledge of their future 2 3 48.

Appearance

  • Face and eyes: Fair, delicate features compared to a porcelain doll, pink eyes, and long, thick eyelashes 2.
  • Figure: A slender waist, fair legs, and an appearance described as combining sensuality with innocence 2.
  • Distinguishing detail: Fu Huaiyan notices the butterfly-like contours of her shoulder blades while helping her change 92.
  • Wardrobe: Wears expensive evening gowns and jewelry for Fu Family business banquets; her opening appearance features pale pink lace pajamas 2 7.

Personality

Su Wanqiao is comfort-loving, money-conscious, and openly enthusiastic about luxury. Her original ambition is financial independence with as little trouble as possible, rather than winning her husband’s affection. Expensive gifts can swiftly improve her opinion of their giver: Fu Yichu’s cash-filled boxes transform her inward criticism into enthusiastic praise. She also enjoys high-society gossip and remains unusually composed around Fu Huaiyan because his intimidating CEO persona feels familiar from the novels she has read 2 5 34 40.

Her outward composure frequently conceals sarcastic complaints, irreverent judgments, and unabashed attraction to her husband. Even after discovering the mind-reading, she finds constant self-censorship exhausting and becomes increasingly candid instead 3 48 69 81.

Despite presenting herself as self-interested, she grows protective of the Fu Family and believes innocent people should not suffer for the plot. She insists on preventing the mass-casualty plane crash destined to kill Fu Huaiyan, challenges his questionable methods, and decides that changing the protagonists’ opportunities also means taking responsibility for stopping crimes they would originally have exposed 50 82 90.

Abilities & Skills

Knowledge of the Original Novel

Su Wanqiao remembers characters, hidden relationships, future disasters, and opportunities from Young Master Gu’s Beloved Wife 2 30.

  • Personal warnings: Identifies Chen Muyu’s dangerous medication, Fu Qingshu’s future exploitation, and Pei He’s concealed sexual history and disease 14 42 61.
  • Business intelligence: Warns about the Yannan District bid leak and identifies Wu Songshan’s preferred painting, Spring Dawn at Danshan 21 39.
  • Career guidance: Recommends Water Village Love to Fu Yunqi and identifies Yan Qiuran as the patient connected to Fu Yuze’s improved surgical procedure 28 89.
  • Public-health preparation: Recognizes zerio Pharmaceuticals’ researchers as crucial to controlling the coming FA1 outbreak 80.
  • Limits: Her knowledge depends on what the novel covered. She knows little about people with minimal plot involvement, and major changes eventually make the original storyline insufficient for judging future risks 51 89.

Involuntary Thought Display

Her thoughts appear above her head in messaging-style text bubbles visible to members of the Fu Family. This exposes her knowledge to them; it does not give Su Wanqiao the ability to read other people’s minds 3 49.

  • The text can contradict her spoken words and composed expression, revealing complaints, attraction, and concealed intentions 3 5.
  • Fu Huaiyan first sees the phenomenon when she inwardly mocks his cold greeting 3.
  • Outsiders cannot see the text. Leaving the family members’ presence prevents them from viewing her current thoughts 49.
  • She cannot reliably suppress spontaneous thoughts, even after learning how the phenomenon works 69 81.

Strategic Advice

Su Wanqiao combines plot knowledge with practical suggestions to redirect the family’s decisions 50 73 75.

  • Suggests giving Fu Qingshu a job so she can encounter manipulation without being placed in immediate physical danger 50.
  • Proposes drawing Li Binyuan away from Jiang Ruoning’s influence and identifies Fu Qingshu as a suitable person to approach him 73.
  • Supports redirecting Zhang Wanhao’s patronage from Gu Yubai to Xie Muling, whose intended marriage to Fu Siyao would connect the opportunity to the Fu Family 75.
  • Uses an anonymous email with an untraceable address to pass information about the Chen Family to Fu Huaiyan, although he recognizes her as the sender 33.

Equipment / Items / Assets

  • Su Family assets: Already owns substantial assets through her original identity, independently of a possible divorce settlement 2.
  • Ancestral jadeite bangle: Given to her by Chen Muyu after her warning about the medication is verified 14.
  • Gowns and jewelry: Fu Huaiyan buys the evening gowns she considers and spends several hundred million on more than twenty sets of jadeite jewelry and diamond necklaces 9.
  • Unlimited-spending card: Provided by Fu Huaiyan after the Lansu Auction 26.
  • Cash gifts: Receives more than twenty boxes containing at least ten million yuan from Fu Yichu, and a twenty-million-yuan check from Fu Huaiyan in exchange for revealing his original fate 34 49.
  • South City luxury shopping center: Formally transferred into her ownership by Fu Huaiyan 66.
  • Jadeite collection: Receives valuable pendants, peace buckles, a jade Buddha, and landscape pieces from Fu Qingshu as thanks for her guidance 79.

Relationships

  • Fu Huaiyan — Husband. Their initially distant marriage develops into an affectionate partnership as he learns her thoughts, recognizes his neglect, and seeks to make amends. She agrees to try living happily with him after he promises comfort, freedom, and shared marital wealth 9 24 55 65.
  • Chen Muyu — Mother-in-law. Initially hostile because of the original owner’s behavior, she changes her attitude after Su Wanqiao’s thoughts expose threats to the family and her health. She gives Su Wanqiao the ancestral bangle and later invites her to private afternoon tea 10 14 38.

  • Fu Yunqi — Brother-in-law. Initially calls her an outsider, but later apologizes and follows her career advice. Her warnings help him recognize Jiang Ruoning’s influence and reconsider opportunities that would otherwise benefit Ji Xingyue 14 28 29 56.
  • Fu Yuze — Brother-in-law and surgeon. Her plot knowledge helps avert the Zhao Xu hospital crisis and identifies Yan Qiuran as a potential patient for his challenged surgical procedure 38 89.
  • Fu Siyao — Sister-in-law. Becomes genuinely grateful after Su Wanqiao’s thoughts expose the Gu Family’s marriage scheme. She seeks further advice about prospective partners and offers Su Wanqiao a pink Ferrari 11 27 30.
  • Fu Qingshu — Sister-in-law. Su Wanqiao helps mobilize her rescue and later recommends her for the effort to win over Li Binyuan. Qingshu thanks her with valuable jadeite jewelry 42 73 79.
  • Fu Zhinian — Sister-in-law. Believes Su Wanqiao’s revelations about Pei He, prompting her to reconsider their relationship 61.
