Chapter 3
Fu Huaiyan could not help laughing as he read those words. He gave Su Wanqiao a long look and answered her surprised expression, "Sure, I was thinking the same thing. But would you come to the office with me first, dear? I have a few things to take care of."
Su Wanqiao almost failed to hold her expression in place. She had never expected Fu Huaiyan to agree. Wasn't he supposed to hate her most of all? Yet now he had agreed. Had the man changed his nature? He was utterly unfathomable.
The corners of her lips stiffened into a smile as she pretended to be delighted. "It's wonderful that you can come with me."
Inside, however, she was thinking: [What's going on with the villain? Doesn't he completely ignore his wife? They're practically divorced already, so why is he suddenly so enthusiastic? If you've got this much time, shouldn't you be guarding against your younger brothers and sisters stealing your base instead...?]
After seeing those words, Fu Huaiyan frowned. When had he ever said he wanted a divorce? He had absolutely no intention of divorcing Su Wanqiao. Why would she think that?
Although theirs was a business marriage and neither had much affection for the other, the marriage was very stable, and divorce was practically impossible. Besides, Su Wanqiao referred to him as the "villain" in these words, which struck him as very strange. If he was the villain, who was the good guy? Such labels only existed in stories, and having one applied to him now felt particularly strange. From what he knew, not only would he divorce Su Wanqiao, but the Fu Family would also go bankrupt, he would die an unnatural death, and the other members of the Fu Family would turn on their own siblings and meet tragic ends. Could all these tragic fates be caused by this "villain" label?
After leaving the Fu Family residence, the couple sat in the luxury car without speaking. During that time, Su Wanqiao did not think about anything, and Fu Huaiyan saw no more shocking words. But the prospect of the Fu Family going bankrupt still haunted him. His eyelid twitched fiercely, and a premonition left him vaguely uneasy.
Before long, the luxury car arrived at the Fu Group's VIP parking lot. The Fu Group's tower looked resplendent and imposing, its modern architectural style and the silver glass windows of the dozens-of-stories-high building giving it a magnificent appearance.
Su Wanqiao silently marveled that anyone could imagine such a supercorporation, wealthy enough to rival a nation, going bankrupt in the near future.
Fu Huaiyan suddenly turned to look at Su Wanqiao and let out a deep sigh without saying anything. He had to find out what exactly was going on. Even if the Fu Family faced a serious crisis, nothing had happened yet, and there was still time to resolve it all.
As they entered the elevator, they happened to see a handsome man in a platinum-gray suit. His features bore some resemblance to Fu Huaiyan's, but his expression looked somewhat unruly. He was a few years younger than Fu Huaiyan.
Several company managers followed behind him, and they happened to approach from the opposite direction and enter the elevator with them.
"Big brother."
"Hello, President Fu."
After Fu Yichu spoke, the other employees also greeted Fu Huaiyan respectfully.
Fu Huaiyan said nothing. The instant he saw Fu Yichu, he merely swept him with a cold, appraising gaze. For some reason, the other man felt that gaze was much more hostile than usual. It sent a chill through him, though he had no idea why.
Fu Yichu's heart jolted at his eldest brother's icy gaze, and his somewhat arrogant demeanor grew more restrained. He silently guessed that his eldest brother was in a bad mood today, though he had no idea who had provoked him.
Then he shifted his gaze to Su Wanqiao beside him, as though he had only just noticed her, and gave a couple of disdainful snorts. "What brings you here too, sister-in-law?"
Su Wanqiao was also looking Fu Yichu up and down. She nodded casually in acknowledgment.
At that moment, inside the elevator,
the space
was small, and Fu Huaiyan and Fu Yichu stood on either side of Su Wanqiao.
Both men saw another line of text appear in a dialogue box above Su Wanqiao's head.
Fu Huaiyan's expression remained fairly composed.
Fu Yichu, however, completely lost control of his expression. His eyes filled with shock, and horror covered his face. Thinking he must have seen wrong, he instinctively rubbed his eyes, only to see it even more clearly.
[So this is the villain's third brother, his pig teammate? He really doesn't look very bright-the kind who'd help count the money after being sold out.]
"..."
Chapter 3
Fu Yichu stared in shock at the dialogue box above Su Wanqiao's head, doing his best to maintain his expression as it threatened to crack. After a long moment, he could not help studying the people around him, only to find that none of them looked at all unusual.
He quickly realized that he was the only one who could see the words above Su Wanqiao's head.
Villain...?
Third brother...?
I'm my eldest brother's third brother, so does that make him the villain?
Even Fu Yichu, slow as he was, now realized that this woman, Su Wanqiao, was insulting him.
Just as he was about to say something, the elevator reached the top floor, where the president's office was located.
Fu Huaiyan and Su Wanqiao walked out side by side, with a sour-faced Fu Yichu following behind.
Naturally, Fu Huaiyan had also seen the words about Fu Yichu above Su Wanqiao's head and thought of how the other man had actually leaked the bidding price.
He was desperate to learn the identities of the "male and female leads" Su Wanqiao had mentioned in her thoughts. Who exactly had the ability to threaten the Fu Family?
If he learned their identities, he would snuff them all out in the cradle.
Fu Huaiyan relaxed a little, because judging by Su Wanqiao's thoughts, the male and female leads had yet to gain any real power and were nothing to fear.
They had only just entered the spacious, luxurious office, before Fu Yichu could confront Su Wanqiao over those earlier remarks.
Fu Huaiyan's presence turned frighteningly cold, and he slammed the blue folder in his hand onto the expensive sandalwood desk.
It landed with a sharp crack.
The sound was particularly loud in the quiet office.
Everyone's expression changed instantly.
Fu Yichu, the assistants, and the other staff beside him were all too frightened to breathe loudly, terrified that this tyrant would call them to account.
Su Wanqiao, on the other hand, was fine. She was not afraid of the villain at all. Perhaps she had read about so many male leads and supporting characters in CEO novels that this sort of characterization seemed perfectly commonplace, so she remained very calm.
