Chapter 5
After the sisters Jiang Ruoning and Jiang Cixue were thrown out, Su Wanqiao somehow felt much more relaxed, as though she had broken free of the original plot's shackles. It no longer felt so oppressive.
Although today's events differed somewhat from the plot, she was still delighted to see that Fu Yichu hadn't been bewitched by the melodramatic female lead's halo. Even as she shopped for clothes, she was in wonderfully high spirits.
[I actually dodged this damned plot setup. What luck! In that case, if everyone in the Fu Family kept a clear head, perhaps their tragic ending could be rewritten.]
Fu Huaiyan and Fu Yichu's hearts jolted, and determination filled their eyes. They would make sure the other members of the Fu Family didn't make any more wrong decisions.
But then they thought again: the plot, the villains, the male and female leads.
Fu Huaiyan and Fu Yichu were both outstanding figures among men, dragons
and
phoenixes. From the scattered fragments of Su Wanqiao's thoughts, they quickly guessed that the world they lived in was very likely a book.
But everything felt real to them. So what if it was the influence of the plot? As characters in it, if they truly suffered disaster or death, they would truly be destroyed. They were real people of flesh and blood. How could they willingly let the plot dictate their lives?
At that moment, the brothers shared one thought: they wouldn't let the plot control them. They would change it and save the Fu Family.
Fu Huaiyan and Fu Yichu each thought that he alone could see Su Wanqiao's inner thoughts. Didn't that make him the chosen one destined to save the Fu Family? It seemed even Heaven didn't want the Fu Family destroyed. They had to hold tightly to this opportunity.
Fu Huaiyan had already made up his mind. If nothing else worked, he would beat them. If beating them didn't work, he would send his younger brothers to Thailand. Ruthless measures really did work, after all.
Fu Yichu, meanwhile, remembered how quickly he had snapped out of it after being slapped earlier. He had indeed been furious at the time, but now he felt that method was very effective.
He could help wake the others up the same way. Hadn't his sister-in-law said that his second brother and Fourth Brother would also be bewitched?
Then don't blame me, brothers.
There's no other way.
At a critical moment, he too would choose righteousness over family ties...
Afterward, the two men happily accompanied Su Wanqiao as she picked out evening gowns, but the more she looked, the harder it became to decide.
There were so many styles that she wanted them all. When she saw several silver-gray sequined dresses, she couldn't help thinking.
[Choosing is so hard~.]
Fu Huaiyan raised an eyebrow and turned to the sales staff. "We'll take everything in this row that we looked at."
"!!!!"
Su Wanqiao was astonished too. She had never expected Fu Huaiyan to be so lavish when buying her evening gowns.
Hadn't Fu Huaiyan always been utterly indifferent to the original owner?
[Ever since the original owner married into the Fu Family, she's been treated like air and ignored. And Fu Huaiyan hasn't spent a single night sleeping at home. I'm starting to wonder whether he can even get it up.]
"..."
Beside them, Fu Yichu looked astonished, as though he had stumbled upon a juicy piece of gossip. He made a snorting sound and nearly burst out laughing.
He covered his mouth.
He was afraid his eldest brother would see his expression.
But his body kept trembling and shaking.
He was practically convulsing with laughter.
Fu Huaiyan's face darkened, but he couldn't say anything, because what Su Wanqiao was complaining about was indeed true.
So he fell silent.
He secretly resolved that he couldn't let Su Wanqiao keep thinking of him that way. They hadn't even... How did she know he couldn't get it up?
After buying the evening gowns, they looked at many sets of extravagant, luxurious high-end jewelry.
Fu Huaiyan stubbornly had all of it wrapped up as well, spending several hundred million with lavish abandon on more than twenty sets of jadeite jewelry and diamond necklaces, all for Su Wanqiao.
Meeting the saleswoman's envious, excited gaze, Su Wanqiao thought to herself.
[Tsk... The sun has risen in the west, pigs can climb trees, crayfish can whistle, crows have turned white, and even the villain has changed his nature.]
Fu Huaiyan: "..."
Chapter 5
When Fu Huaiyan and Fu Yichu saw Su Wanqiao's inner thoughts, they noticed that she had used the term "original owner."
Although it wasn't hard to understand from the surrounding words that this term referred to Su Wanqiao herself, they felt it carried some special meaning, just like "male and female leads" and "villains."
Coupled with the recent drastic change in Su Wanqiao's personality, they wondered whether it might be directly related to that term.
But regardless, if Su Wanqiao hadn't known so many things they didn't, they wouldn't even have had a chance to change their tragic ending.
Fu Huaiyan also began reflecting on how neglectful he had indeed been toward Su Wanqiao. If he hadn't heard her inner thoughts, he might still not have realized it. He absolutely wouldn't be like that again.
Fu Yichu noticed this too. He had always known that his eldest brother and sister-in-law didn't have a good relationship. He hadn't liked Su Wanqiao before either, and had never really spent any time with this sister-in-law.
After this unexpected mind-reading incident, he no longer felt the same aversion toward Su Wanqiao as before.
Besides, whatever his sister-in-law's personality was like, they were still family. When it came to the bidding project in Yannan District, she cared a great deal about the Fu Family's interests.
This changed Fu Yichu's view of Su Wanqiao. He still hoped the couple could become closer. After all, the Fu Family couldn't do without any of them.
Since he was the chosen one destined to change the Fu Family's ending, he hoped he could help his eldest brother and sister-in-law ease their marital relationship.
Su Wanqiao also felt that Fu Huaiyan's attitude toward her had clearly changed, especially since they had returned from shopping. The man seemed to have made a complete about-face. The most obvious sign was that he would look her in the eye when speaking, something that had never happened before.
After all, when she used to write novels, she had needed to observe people's expressions and mannerisms. Fu Huaiyan had been so arrogant that he paid no attention to anyone irrelevant to him. It wasn't just the original owner he treated that way; he was much the same toward everyone else.
Fu Yichu was cut from the same cloth as Fu Huaiyan. Sometimes he was even more arrogant than his brother, with quite the air of a spoiled rich heir, and he had been especially disdainful toward the original owner. But this time, he too seemed different from before.
