Background

Previous Life and Transmigration

In her previous life, Ye Jin worked behind the scenes on film sets. After months of surviving on three or four hours of sleep a day, she died from overwork. Shortly before her consciousness disappeared, a system offered her transmigration into a novel and lasting wealth in exchange for completing a mission. She accepted because refusing meant death 1 15.

The system became dormant after her transmigration because it lacked energy. Ye Jin grew up for twenty-five years without knowing about the mission, raised by middle-class parents who deliberately prepared her to marry into wealth through elite schooling and expensive hobbies 1.

Marriage and Original Fate

Lin Xiwen arranged for Ye Jin to meet her workaholic son, Su Chengjing. Their marriage initially rested on practical compatibility rather than love: he appreciated her respect for his boundaries, while she liked his wealth, appearance, and frequent absence from home 1 2.

When the system reactivated, Ye Jin learned that she lived inside Revenge CEO’s Deep Love. The novel cast her as Xie Haoyu’s vicious ex-girlfriend who supposedly abandoned him for money. In reality, she had broken up with him because of his controlling, chauvinistic behavior, half a month before his family’s bankruptcy. Her original ending involved depression, repeated humiliation by Xie Haoyu, and suicide after the Su Group collapsed 1 2.

Appearance

  • Features and bearing: Refined, strikingly beautiful features and an elegant manner; Huo Yun recruited her after being impressed by her appearance at a dinner party 1 15.
  • Formal clothing: Introduced wearing a white haute couture gown at the Su Family’s banquet 1.
  • Screen appearance: Her white gauze costume and flowing-cloud bun in Kunlun Duel give her a fairy-like appearance, drawing admiration even from people accustomed to seeing her 16.

Personality

Ye Jin’s gentle, well-behaved public image conceals a profane, sarcastic inner monologue. Early on, she carefully maintains the persona expected of a wealthy family’s daughter-in-law, even withholding useful warnings when speaking would seem out of character. As she becomes more secure, she grows willing to confront people openly 2 11 71.

She values comfort, money, food, and leisure more than celebrity status. Her previous death makes an easier life especially appealing, but she eventually rejects dependence on marriage alone and builds an investment career. She remains firm about leaving acting even when international brands offer lucrative endorsements 15 58 60 88.

Gossip is her greatest weakness: she stays awake reading scandals, posts anonymous revelations, and listens through a guesthouse wall hoping to witness an affair’s exposure. Nevertheless, her mockery often accompanies genuine sympathy for betrayed women and admiration for women who succeed at work 3 8 16 32 52.

Her generosity is tempered by financial caution. She supports Jiang Ye’s return to acting but initially worries about risking investors’ money on an unreliable filming schedule. She also recognizes that her knowledge of a novel is not infallible, eventually apologizing for treating Su Chengjing’s supposed romantic encounter as established fact 78 81 88.

Abilities & Skills

Novel Library and Plot Knowledge

The system leaves Ye Jin access to a library of novels, allowing her to identify stories involving people she encounters and read their original outcomes 2 48.

  • Reveals hidden affairs, betrayals, family connections, and future schemes, including Su Yang’s mistress and Hou Yuanwu’s existing family 3 36.
  • Contains more than the Su Family’s story; she finds Evening Rain Falls Steadily when investigating Yan Xuelan and Yan Yulan 48.
  • Provides an original storyline, not a guaranteed future. Her assumptions about Su Chengjing’s “true love” become a prolonged misunderstanding after events diverge 65 72 88.

Involuntary Inner-Voice Broadcast

A system bug accidentally links Ye Jin’s brainwaves to characters designated as villains, enabling them to hear her thoughts. Their access to her plot knowledge lets them investigate betrayals and change their endings 97.

  • Unconscious operation: Ye Jin does not knowingly transmit warnings and remains unaware of the broadcast until the system explains it 35 97.
  • Range: Lin Xiwen tests an approximate range of one hundred meters; the thoughts become clearer at closer distances 8.
  • Speech restriction: Listeners initially cannot directly explain the phenomenon to Ye Jin. Lin Xiwen and Su Chenglan also deliberately protect the secret for her safety 35 43.
  • End of the effect: After the system’s repair and the plane incident, Lin Xiwen and Su Chenglan can no longer hear her thoughts. They later discover they can discuss the former broadcasts openly 89 91 97.

System Assistance

The system is frequently unavailable, leaving Ye Jin to navigate most of the mission without active support 2 89.

  • Returns during a dangerous flight after spending nearly a year repairing its bug 89.
  • Infiltrates the world’s network to search for evidence of Xie Haoyu’s crimes at her request 91.
  • Supplies private celebrity gossip, which quickly becomes another shared interest between host and system 91.
  • Receives enough energy from the completed mission to unlock all permissions 96.

Entertainment Investment and Production

Ye Jin combines her previous-life production experience, plot knowledge, and assessment of the industry with Huo Yun’s professional connections 15 21.

  • Refuses to invest in Kunlun Duel unless He Cheng is replaced, treating his continued involvement as a financial risk 29.
  • Selects variety shows partly for their smaller investment requirements, shorter production cycles, and faster returns 47.
  • Pursues a drama she and Huo Yun can control rather than remaining dependent on acting offers 60.
  • Seeks the original author’s participation and intends to respect the source material rather than arbitrarily adding romance 64 71 72.

Acting

Huo Yun considers Ye Jin exceptionally promising, but Ye Jin regards her own acting as ordinary and has little interest in making it her long-term profession 15 16 21.

  • Her senior-sister role in Kunlun Duel becomes more popular than the drama’s leads 60.
  • She declines the endorsements generated by that success and follows through on leaving acting 60 61.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Protecting the Su Family

With Su Chengjing kidnapped abroad, Ye Jin learns that a family banquet is a turning point toward the Su Group’s bankruptcy. Her silent criticism exposes Su Yang’s affair with Chen Ruxue to Zhou Wanqing and alerts Lin Xiwen to the threat against the family. Ye Jin also posts anonymously about Su Yang’s pursuit of Zhou Wanqing for power 2 3 8.

Her thoughts subsequently identify Xu You as Xie Haoyu’s agent and encourage Lin Xiwen to manage the Su Group herself. They also reveal Su Chengjing’s location, prompting Lin Xiwen to contact security personnel and police, although he escapes before they reach him 9 10 11 35.

When Su Chenglan introduces Hou Yuanwu, Ye Jin’s recollection of his original betrayals exposes his pursuit of wealthy women, child bride, and two children. Lin Xiwen investigates, and Su Chenglan ultimately ends the relationship and turns toward her career 36 43 46.

Moving Behind the Camera

Ye Jin returns to Kunlun Duel but tells Huo Yun that it will be her final acting production. She proposes establishing a film and television investment company instead, appealing to Huo Yun’s dissatisfaction with short-term talent management 15 21.

Her involvement in entertainment brings her into contact with women whose original endings are also disastrous. Yang Manhui recognizes He Cheng’s betrayal, while Xu Yan investigates Fu Ruiming and secures compensation in their divorce. Both later support Ye Jin’s business activities 19 24 34 39.

Xie Haoyu’s Retaliation and Mission Completion

During severe turbulence on their return flight from the island, the repaired system reconnects and Su Chengjing begins confessing his feelings. Both survive the ensuing plane incident. Afterward, Ye Jin directs the system to search for evidence against Xie Haoyu 89 91.

The system later confirms that the mission is complete and reveals the accidental thought broadcast. Mortified by everything others have heard, Ye Jin nevertheless returns home and faces her family. They reassure her that they welcome her honest personality 96 97 98.
