Xu Jintang pursed her lips. "Keep an eye on it for now, and I'll let you know later."
Xue Zhongqi: "Okay."
After their mutual ambushes, both sides temporarily returned to peace and busied themselves searching for new springs and collecting water resources.
Night slowly fell.
The spring is located at coordinates 402, 93.
It was during the time when regular military personnel were changing shifts for patrol.
A dark figure suddenly darted in.
"Who!" The regular soldier immediately shouted alertly, took out the signal inscription from his pocket, and was about to crush it when the ice that had already spread to his feet pounced like a venomous snake, instantly freezing his entire body.
"Crimson Flames of the Nine Heavens! Get him!"
Song Tianqi's irritable voice rang out.
In less than two minutes, all the official team members were eliminated, without even having time to send a signal before they were eliminated.
Xu Jintang removed the hood from his cloak, revealing a slight upturn of his lips.
"Notify Xue Zhongqi and the others to destroy this spring immediately."
Song Tianqi chuckled in return, "Okay."
After committing their crime, the two quickly fled the scene.
Because the team members didn't have time to send a signal, no one in the regular army knew about the incident at the spring.
It wasn't until the Armament Camp's missiles were launched and successfully destroyed the spring that the regular soldiers realized something was wrong.
"Damn it! The new spring we just discovered has been destroyed again!"
"Are those trainee soldiers crazy? If they keep doing this, we're quitting. Let's just blow up their fountain."
"Calm down. They can bomb us because they have missiles. How can we bomb them? By manpower?"
Inside the main tent, several squad leaders started arguing for no apparent reason.
Lei Wenche's temples were throbbing.
"Alright! What are you all arguing about?"
The crowd then quieted down.
Lei Wenche took a deep breath. "Strengthen security at the remaining two springs, with patrols rotating every hour. Also, speed up the collection of water resources."
"Captain Lei, are we just going to swallow this loss?"
Lei Wenche calmed himself down, a cold glint in his eyes. "Of course not. I'll make up for this loss for you."
The squad leaders exchanged glances and immediately felt relieved.
It seems Captain Lei is getting serious.
The night grew deeper, but the city was still brightly lit.
The patrol team moved around everywhere, not even letting a small flying insect escape their notice.
"Everyone be extra vigilant tonight; the enemy could launch a surprise attack at any time."
"Yes!"
After giving their instructions, the patrol team turned around in neat formation and continued their journey along the outer edge of the city.
Alone outside the city, Lei Wenche pressed himself against the wall.
After a while, no one noticed his presence.
Lei Wenche withdrew his gaze, lowered his body slightly, quickly bypassed the drone's reconnaissance range, raised his hand to gather lightning power, and swiftly slammed it towards the protective shield in front of him.
"Beep beep--beep beep--"
Sharp alarms immediately blared throughout the city.
Lei Wenche glanced at the situation inside the city, and in the blink of an eye, several nearby patrol teams arrived.
He quickly turned and left the scene.
Many people's attention was drawn to the suddenly broken protective shield, and no one noticed Lei Wenche's figure.
After circling around, Lei Wenche moved to the area with the fewest guards and made his move again.
Immediately afterwards, another sharp alarm sounded.
By the time the nearby trainees arrived, Lei Wenche had already left.
Within just half an hour, the defensive shield in the main city was inexplicably breached five times. Each time, only a small crack appeared, which was not a serious problem, but it kept the trainee soldiers on patrol running around in circles.
When the alarm sounded for the sixth time, Xu Jintang came out of the main command room.
She raised her hands and stretched.
The alarm beeped incessantly, and several patrol teams surged from all directions, rushing towards the location where the protective shield had been attacked.
Xu Jintang put his hands down, put them in his pockets, and strolled leisurely in that direction.
Several patrol teams were stationed nearby where the protective shield had cracked, cautiously surveying the surroundings.
No enemy presence detected.
"Only Sixth Tier Lei Wenche could shatter the protective shield with a single blow."
"They've probably already run away. So annoying, launching sneak attacks everywhere in the middle of the night."
Xu Jintang walked over with his hands in his pockets, glancing at the outside of the protective shield. It was empty; there wasn't a soul in sight.
Upon seeing Xu Jintang, the patrol members quickly surrounded him. "Captain, the person who just launched the sneak attack was definitely Lei Wenche. We don't know what he was up to; he just attacked and ran away."
"You guys continue patrolling, I'll go check it out." Xu Jintang flexed her wrists, then lightly tapped her toes and leaped gracefully out from the crack in the protective shield.
Outside the main city, the lighting wasn't very good; it was dark and quiet everywhere.
Xu Jintang stopped in front of a corner, squatted down, and looked at the deep and shallow footprints on the ground.
She stood up, raised her gaze, and began to trace the footprints.
Having just finished his sneak attack, Lei Wenche returned to the position where he had launched it.
He pressed his back against the boulder, held his breath, and focused his gaze on the situation inside the protective shield.
Because this area was just attacked, the number of guards here has been greatly increased.
Lei Wenche clenched his fist, and faint lightning slowly gathered in his palm.
"Captain Lei, it's not very fair of you to camp out and attack us in the middle of the night, is it?" A clear female voice rang out from above.
Lei Wenche froze for a moment, then suddenly looked up and threw out the ball of lightning in his hand.
The crackling sound of thunder rang in my ears.
Xu Jintang's face turned cold. He raised his hand and activated his mental power. Ice emanating from his palm instantly extended out, blocking the ball of lightning.
The two retreated simultaneously, quickly creating a safe distance between them.
Lei Wenche stopped in his tracks, his gaze turning deep. He clenched his fists and stared at Xu Jintang. "So, you guys are just idly attacking our springs, and that's considered kind?"
Xu Jintang smiled slightly, "Since that's the case, let's call it even and end it here?"
Lei Wenche pondered for a moment, then said, "Okay."
Xu Jintang smiled and took a half step back, making room for Lei Wenche, indicating that he could decide to leave as he pleased. "Please."
Seeing that Xu Jintang was so easy to talk to, Lei Wenche was a little surprised.
He remained vigilant, his eyes fixed on Xu Jintang, as he slowly moved away.
Xu Jintang stood with her hands behind her back, a smile on her face, watching Lei Wenche walk away.
Only when he could no longer see the other person did Xu Jintang turn around and walk into the city.
Both sides reached a temporary agreement, and nothing else went wrong in the latter half of the night; everyone got through it safely.
Until dawn the next day.
The outdoor temperature, scorching hot, has already exceeded 65 degrees Celsius.
"Bite--"
"Note: New supplies will be randomly dropped in Area C of the Plains in thirty minutes. New supplies will be available in thirty minutes..."
An electronic notification sounded.
Xu Jintang raised his hand and placed it on the main gate of the city. The ice that had gathered in his palm immediately spread throughout the entire city.
In the blink of an eye, the ice layer seemed to be playing at double speed, covering all the buildings in the city with a thin layer.
Under the sunlight, the ice layer refracts a dazzling light.
However, the temperature was too high, and with the intense sunlight, the ice covering the buildings only lasted a few minutes before it began to melt.
Xu Jintang stopped and turned to walk into the main command room.
The team leaders at all levels from the other camps have already assembled.
"New supplies will be delivered in half an hour. Everyone should already be familiar with this. The reconnaissance equipment from the Armament Camp will go first, followed by the Recruit Camp and the Logistics Camp. The Armament Camp should provide support during the supply raids."
"The rest of you will adapt to the situation."
Song Tianqi took the lead and answered, "Understood!"
After two days of training and adjustment, the four battalions of the training army have achieved a high level of coordination.
Xu Jintang didn't give any further instructions, and simply gestured, "Let's go."
The remaining dozen or so concealed drones from the Armament Camp quietly flew out of the city.
Under the scorching sun, many withered grasses in remote fields spontaneously combusted.
"Quick, quick, the squad leader's side is on fire!" Song Tianqi jumped up in fright.
Xu Jintang glanced over, raised his hand, and summoned ice to cover the withered grass, instantly extinguishing the sparks.
Song Tianqi breathed a sigh of relief and patted his chest, "Now I can't act recklessly, otherwise it'll turn into a fire."
Yan Yuting caught up and glanced at him. "Just remember to behave yourself and don't burn the supplies."
Normally, fire-type ability users would see their combat power increase significantly in such high-temperature environments.
Song Tianqi's predicament is that while his combat power has indeed increased, it could easily escalate into a wildfire if he's not careful.
Song Tianqi scratched his head and chuckled, "I guarantee it."
Xue Zhongqi did not go with the team; he remained in the Armament Camp to take command and provide support.
Xu Jintang withdrew his gaze, raised his hand and lightly tapped the right earpiece, "Have you found the official army's coordinates yet?"
Xue Zhongqi's voice quickly came through the earpiece. "It appeared at coordinates 702, 521 two minutes ago and is moving northwest. It might run into you. If you don't want to fight, you can take a detour."
"Alright." Xu Jintang looked up, turned around, and led the team out. "This way."
A regular army unit that was also marching in this direction suddenly stopped alertly.
"Do you think that beetle over there could be a reconnaissance drone from the other side?" one of the team members suddenly asked, pointing at the beetle.
