Uzui's past
"There's nothing we can do about it!"
Tengen Uzui:
"Your mission is to destroy the Swordsmith Village Swordsmith Village, my mission is to protect it! Our missions are inherently conflicting!"
Upon hearing this, Doma pondered for a moment, then suddenly his eyes lit up, and he clapped his hands, saying:
"How about this? I'll turn you into a ghost, then we'll both be ghosts! Then we won't have any conflicting missions!"
Tengen Uzui sneered, "Ha, dream on! I'd rather die than become a ghost!"
Doma looked at Tengen Uzui and sighed softly:
"Sigh! Why are you Demon Slayer like this? You'd rather die than become a demon!"
"There are so many advantages to becoming a demon, but if I continue to choose to be human, not only will I gain nothing, but I'll also die!"
At this point, Doma paused, looking at Tengen Uzui with a questioning expression.
"I really can't figure it out, can you help me understand why this is?"
Tengen Uzui said, "The logic is very simple!"
"It's simple?" Doma tilted his head, looking even more puzzled.
"That's right, it's very simple!" Tengen Uzui nodded. "Because we still retain the humanity of being human, while you have completely abandoned it!"
Is it humane?
Doma repeated it in a low voice, trying to understand the term.
However, having always lacked emotions, he couldn't understand human nature even when he was human, let alone now that he's a ghost.
Doma frowned and looked at Tengen Uzui, asking:
"Can you tell me what human nature is?"
Upon hearing this, Tengen Uzui sneered and said, "Give up! As a demon, and Upper Rank, you could never understand such things!"
Doma said anxiously, "Hey, hey, hey! Don't give up on me so quickly! I feel like I can still be saved! I'm very eager to learn!"
Tengen Uzui looked expressionlessly at Doma, who seemed very anxious, and said:
"Stop pretending, aren't you supposed to be emotionless?"
Upon hearing this, Doma for a moment, then quickly relaxed. He gently tapped his head with his folding fan and said:
"Well, although I expected it, it seems your Demon Slayer Corps already has most of the information about us Upper Rank?"
Having said that, Doma nodded.
"Yes, that's right, I really don't have emotions! Well, I can't say that. It's more like I don't feel joy or sadness because of other things. But..."
Doma looked intently at Tengen Uzui.
"I wasn't lying to you just now; I genuinely want to know what humanity is."
"Furthermore, besides understanding human nature, I also want to know what happiness feels like, what sadness feels like, and what anger feels like..."
"These kinds of things, you either can sense them or you can't. No one can teach you that!" Tengen Uzui looked at Doma seriously.
Doma said disbelievingly, "You're not a heartless person, how do you know I can't teach you?"
Tengen Uzui said, "I do have feelings, but I don't have any family from the past!"
Upon hearing this, Doma's eyes lit up.
"Don't your family members have feelings?"
Upon hearing this, Tengen Uzui fell silent, his vision blurring as if he were back in his childhood at home. He then slowly began to speak.
I was born twenty-three years ago!
"By then, guns and cannons had already appeared, greatly diminishing individual capabilities."
"Even someone who has undergone rigorous training for two or three decades can be taken down with a single shot if they are not careful when facing an ordinary person."
"At this point, even a person knows that in the future, individual abilities will be infinitely suppressed, and more importantly, those firearms!"
"But my father, I don't know if he truly didn't understand, or if he was pretending not to."
"Instead of embracing the historical trend, he worried that firearms would negatively impact ninjas, leaving ordinary ninjas with no future opportunities."
"So they arranged even tougher training for us nine brothers and sisters."
"The training was so arduous that three people lost their lives."
"But my father didn't feel anything about it. He just thought those people were weak and didn't deserve to live in this world!"
"Later..."
At this point, Tengen Uzui paused, seemingly lost in the past.
Doma looked at Tengen Uzui and urged, "What happened next?"
"And then..."
Tengen Uzui continued:
"Later, he wanted to choose the strongest child!"
"They even made the remaining brothers and sisters wear masks and kill each other!"
"I only found out after I killed my two brothers and removed their masks!"
"And then what did you do?"
Doma then asked, and before Tengen Uzui could answer, he rolled his eyes and offered his guess based on his years of learning:
"You mean you didn't kill your father and then rescue your other siblings?"
"Ha ha ha ha...
Doma's guess made Tengen Uzui laugh wildly.
Seeing this, Doma realized he had guessed wrong. He thought about it carefully again, and then tentatively said:
"So, did you kill all your remaining brothers and sisters?"
"And then you became the strongest child, and your father was so happy that he taught you everything!"
"And then, after you learned those things, you killed your father!"
"Hahahaha..." Tengen Uzui laughed mockingly, "If you have no feelings, don't make wild guesses about what people with feelings like us would do!"
Doma raised an eyebrow, not minding at all. Being emotionless, he wouldn't feel angry even if he was mocked.
His usual displays of anger were simply based on his learning over the years, believing that he should show anger in that particular situation.
"So how did you do it?" Doma asked.
Tengen Uzui slightly suppressed his smile and continued:
"Then my younger brother ambushed me, but I subdued him!"
"I thought he was unaware of the current situation, so I took off my mask and told him my father's purpose!"
"I never expected this!"
"What didn't you expect?" Doma asked.
"Unexpectedly, even after knowing his father's purpose, he still nonchalantly killed his two remaining brothers!"
"And so, we were originally nine brothers and sisters, but after that incident, only he and I were left!"
Doma looked at Tengen Uzui and asked:
"Hmm, and then?"
