Chapters 501–516 Vol. 6 Read

Ch. 501What Was Nakime Even Doing?

Gyomei struggled to get close to Muzan while fending off his massive flesh arm, until Kanae and Mitsuri joined him. Mitsuri severed the arm and Gyomei struck at Muzan, leaving Kanae poised to attack at his side.

  • Gyomei used his chained flail and axe to block Muzan's attacks but could not approach him.
  • Kanae arrived and joined Gyomei, who warned her about Muzan's speed and power.
  • Mitsuri arrived and agreed to handle Muzan's massive arm.
  • Gyomei, Kanae, and Mitsuri charged at Muzan, and Mitsuri sliced his arm into several sections.
  • Gyomei struck Muzan's raised right hand with his flail, and Kanae attacked with Flower Breathing, Sixth Form: Whirling Peach.

Ch. 502You Will See It

Mitsuri and Kanae were incapacitated by Muzan’s roar as the battle continued, while demons overwhelmed the Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters. Teiichi arrived and told the ailing Kagaya Ubuyashiki that he would see whether they succeeded, holding a syringe filled with red liquid.

  • Kanae pulled Mitsuri out of the path of Muzan’s blood whips, but Muzan’s roar knocked both women unconscious and left Gyomei struggling to reach them.
  • Demons attacked the Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters, killing and overwhelming Corps members as Yamashita was knocked down and faced a demon’s claw.
  • More than a dozen wind blades cut through the demons, and Teiichi arrived at the headquarters and went to see Kagaya Ubuyashiki.
  • Kagaya Ubuyashiki lamented that Muzan had not been injected with the drug and that he might not live to see the battle’s outcome.
  • Teiichi took out a syringe filled with red liquid and told Kagaya Ubuyashiki that he would see it.

Ch. 503Beheading Akaza

After Kyojuro Rengoku died from his wounds, Tanjiro blamed himself and attacked Akaza in a rage. He regained his composure, entered a strange state, and beheaded Akaza, but Akaza’s headless body moved before Tanjiro could finish him.

  • Kyojuro told Tanjiro to win before succumbing to his injuries, and Tanjiro vowed to keep Akaza from escaping.
  • Tanjiro charged Akaza recklessly, and Giyu took a blow while shielding him from Akaza’s attack.
  • Tanjiro calmed down after seeing Giyu injured, then remained behind as Giyu rushed to help Obanai, Zenitsu, and Inosuke.
  • Tanjiro’s vision settled into seeing through his opponents, and he picked up Kyojuro’s Nichirin Blade.
  • Tanjiro struck Akaza with Hinokami Kagura and severed his head, but Akaza’s headless body moved before Tanjiro could cut it apart.
  • Obanai warned the others to stop Akaza, and Giyu, Obanai, Inosuke, and Zenitsu swung their blades at the headless body.

Ch. 504Where Did She Come From?

Akaza regrew his head and unleashed a barrage of shock waves against Tanjiro, Giyu, Obanai, Inosuke, and Zenitsu. Elsewhere, Sanemi, Muichiro, and Kanao struggled against Kokushibo until Kanon suddenly attacked his neck from behind.

  • Akaza used his Final Form: Blue Silver Chaotic Afterglow to send hundreds of shock waves at the retreating Demon Slayers.
  • Giyu, Obanai, Inosuke, and Zenitsu tried to block the attacks while Tanjiro used the Transparent World to dodge them.
  • Sanemi charged Kokushibo repeatedly, and Muichiro kept joining the fight to prevent Kokushibo from pursuing him.
  • Kanao arrived and joined Sanemi and Muichiro, but all three suffered injuries and struggled to withstand Kokushibo.
  • Kanon leaped out from behind Kokushibo and struck his neck with Flower Breathing, Sixth Form: Whirling Peach, leaving him startled.

Ch. 505On all fronts

Sanemi, Muichiro, Kanon, and Kanao beheaded Kokushibo, but his body did not turn to ash, so Sanemi embedded a Red Nichirin Blade in it while they waited for support. At the Infinity Castle, Gyomei pulled unconscious Kanae and Mitsuri away from Muzan’s blood whips, and Mitsuri woke as the whips closed in.

  • Sanemi pinned Kokushibo’s weapon and hand while Kanon took the blades piercing her, giving Muichiro and Kanao time to cut off Kokushibo’s head.
  • Kanao treated Kanon’s wounds, and Sanemi grieved over Kokushibo’s corpse before agreeing to help the other fights.
  • Kanon noticed Kokushibo’s body had not turned to ash, and Muichiro severed its limbs, concluding that Kokushibo’s mental breakthrough let him survive decapitation.
  • Sanemi placed a Red Nichirin Blade in Kokushibo’s body to block regeneration, while Muichiro insisted they remain in case Kokushibo overcame the restriction.
  • Gyomei used his chained weapons to pull Kanae and Mitsuri away from Muzan’s blood whips, and Mitsuri woke as the whips approached.

Ch. 506The plan

Gyomei, Kanae, and Mitsuri stalled Muzan until Tengen Uzui arrived and helped them fight him. After Muzan knocked Tamayo away, Kanae resolved to inject him with the drug herself, even if she had to block out his sonic attacks.

  • Mitsuri blocked Muzan's blood whips as Gyomei rescued her and Kanae, then led them in a retreat that repeatedly frustrated Muzan's attempts to reach Nakime.
  • Muzan charged the group and used his sonic roar to disrupt their movements, but Tengen Uzui arrived and separated them from Muzan.
  • Tengen Uzui countered Muzan's roars with explosives and Sound Breathing as he, Kanae, Mitsuri, and Gyomei fought Muzan to a temporary stalemate.
  • Muzan spotted Tamayo and attacked her, but Mitsuri stepped in front of her; a flesh-and-blood arm struck them both and sent them flying.
  • Kanae took out a syringe and declared that she would inject the drug into Muzan herself, then said she could avoid his sonic attack by making sure she could not hear it.

Ch. 507A Gamble

Kanae blinded herself by destroying her hearing so she could help Tengen Uzui and Gyomei Himejima fight Muzan Kibutsuji, while Shinobu Kocho and Yushiro gambled on Nakime returning to her original room. Shinobu sent Yushiro to wait there as she continued pursuing Nakime.

  • Kanae destroyed her hearing and asked Tengen Uzui and Gyomei Himejima to create an opening, then joined them in attacking Muzan Kibutsuji.
  • Nakime vanished from her room after hearing Muzan warn her not to fight the Hashira, and Shinobu Kocho began chasing her with help from a Kasugai Crow.
  • Nakime repeatedly teleported away before Shinobu could catch her, leaving Shinobu to consider abandoning her original plan.
  • Shinobu met Yushiro and told him to return to Nakime's original room and wait while she continued forcing Nakime to change locations.
  • Shinobu explained that they had to gamble that Nakime would return to her previous location during one of her teleports.

Ch. 508Help me!

Kanae and the others struggled to break through Muzan’s defenses long enough for her to inject the demon-to-human drug. Muzan’s attention briefly shifted to another demon, giving Kanae an opening to reach him and begin her final form.

  • Kanae, Mitsuri, Tengen Uzui, and Gyomei fought off Muzan’s blood whips while Kanae asked Mitsuri to create an opening for the drug.
  • Muzan’s movements faltered when he sensed another demon, and he saw a man with a white haori and a woman calling out Kagaya’s name.
  • Kanae ordered the others to attack, and they broke apart the blood-whip barrier around Muzan.
  • Muzan unleashed a roar and more blood whips, but Mitsuri and Uzui shielded Kanae as she ran toward him.
  • Kanae reached one meter from Muzan and used Flower Breathing, Final Form: Equinoctial Vermilion Eye.

Ch. 509Stars shone bright

Kanae injected Muzan with the drug that could turn demons into humans, and the Demon Slayers fought to keep him from overcoming its effects. As Muzan and Yushiro struggled for control of Nakime and the Infinity Castle, Teiichi arrived and made his move.

  • Kanae injected the drug into Muzan, then Mitsuri and Uzui withdrew with her after Muzan struck her and she lost her hearing.
  • Muzan cut off his own head while trying to resist the drug, but Uzui, Gyomei, and later Mitsuri kept him occupied as he tried to neutralize it.
  • Muzan ordered Nakime to teleport the Demon Slayers away, but Yushiro interfered with her control and fought Muzan inside her consciousness.
  • Muzan briefly regained control and sent Yushiro and Nakime away, but Yushiro soon regained the advantage and the Infinity Castle's doors began opening and closing repeatedly.
  • Teiichi waited at the Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters until Nakime's biwa sounded, then entered the Infinity Castle and snapped his fingers, filling it with azure starlight.

Ch. 510I Didn't Know What to Call This, So I Picked Whatever

Inside the Infinity Castle, Kaigaku saved Hase and Nakamura from demons while the slayers fought desperately across several battles. Muichiro faced Kokushibo alone as Tanjiro, Giyu, and Obanai battled Akaza, and both Upper Ranks paused to listen or look toward something approaching.

  • Nakamura took a demon's bite while saving Hase, but Kaigaku used Thunder Breathing to clear the demons and give them a chance to stop the bleeding.
  • Hase thanked Kaigaku, who worried that the battle might be unwinnable and considered becoming a demon to survive.
  • Muichiro, the only fighter still standing against Kokushibo, used the Transparent World but remained badly outmatched.
  • Kokushibo swept Muichiro back with Moon Breathing, then paused to listen to a growing gale.
  • Akaza urged Tanjiro, Giyu, and the injured Obanai to become demons, but Tanjiro continued attacking alongside them.
  • After Tanjiro and Akaza clashed with powerful techniques, Akaza looked upward, and Tanjiro followed his gaze.

Ch. 511Into the world

Teiichi destroyed Infinity Castle and brought the fight against Muzan and his demons to Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters. Exhausted after unleashing his Wind Field, he confronted Muzan, who tried to flee but found Kokushibo and Akaza standing still.

  • Kanae sensed Teiichi’s arrival as Muzan tried to escape through Nakime’s doors, but Yushiro kept closing them.
  • Teiichi unleashed Wind Blades throughout Infinity Castle, destroying its buildings while shielding the Corps members from the attacks.
  • The ruined Infinity Castle collapsed into Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters, where Teiichi separated Muzan, Kokushibo, and Akaza from the others with his Wind Field.
  • Muichiro saved a Corps member from a demon and sent him to join the others before continuing onward despite his wounds.
  • Teiichi confronted Muzan, who ordered Kokushibo and Akaza to hold him off while he escaped, but they neither moved nor answered.

Ch. 512The Prison of the World

Muzan offered Teiichi immortality in exchange for letting him go, but Teiichi rejected the bargain and described eternal life as a prison of endless time and despair. Muzan was left confronted with the possibility that achieving his goal would give him no purpose.

  • Kokushibo and Akaza urged Muzan to fight Teiichi together because neither could hold him off alone.
  • Muzan proposed giving Teiichi a demon-making formula that required no human eating in exchange for his freedom.
  • Teiichi refused to treat immortality as a prize and argued that life’s meaning came from its limited duration.
  • Muzan claimed endless time would let him control and obtain everything, but Teiichi called his existence meaningless.
  • Teiichi warned that immortality would isolate Muzan from the world and trap him in endless despair.

Ch. 513Like a god... like a demon...

Teiichi rejected Muzan’s offer and fought Muzan, Kokushibo, and Akaza at the Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters. After decapitating Muzan and realizing the humanizing drug had weakened him, Teiichi prepared his secret art as dawn approached.

  • Teiichi told Muzan that life had meaning because it was brief, ending their negotiation.
  • Kokushibo and Akaza attacked Teiichi, who defended himself while Muzan joined the fight.
  • Teiichi evaded Muzan’s Black Blood Brambles with a gale and cut off Muzan’s head.
  • Teiichi kicked Muzan away and struck back at Kokushibo and Akaza with Wind Fall, sending all three fighters flying.
  • Teiichi activated Vibrating Blade and began preparing his secret art, making Muzan halt in fear.

Ch. 514A Future Without Demons

Teiichi defeated Muzan and the remaining Upper Ranks, ending the demon threat as the sun rose on a victorious but costly battle. As the Corps celebrated, he reunited with Kanae and realized she had lost her hearing.

  • Teiichi repeatedly slashed Muzan until the human-turning drug weakened him, then killed him with a final strike.
  • Teiichi beheaded Kokushibo and Akaza and watched their bodies turn to ash.
  • Mitsuri told Teiichi that Rengoku was gone and sixty percent of the regular Corps members had died.
  • At sunrise, Kanae and Shinobu arrived with the wounded, and the Corps celebrated Muzan's death.
  • Teiichi approached Kanae and realized she could no longer hear him, then embraced her as the sun shone over the survivors.

Ch. 515Extra story 1: After the war

Over a month after Muzan's defeat, Teiichi and Kanae paid their respects to the fallen, and the Demon Slayer Corps later held a gathering where Kagaya announced its disbandment. When Tengen asked what Teiichi would do next, Teiichi planned to travel with Kanae, but their friends quickly turned it into a group trip.

  • Teiichi and Kanae visited the Corps cemetery, honored the fallen, and left flowers at Master Shoma's grave.
  • Two months later, Kagaya thanked the Corps members and announced that the Demon Slayer Corps was officially disbanded while its members would continue receiving their salaries.
  • Teiichi and Kanae teased Uzui about his household expenses as the survivors celebrated the end of the war.
  • Uzui asked Teiichi about his plans, and Teiichi said he would rest and travel with Kanae.
  • Kanae invited Shinobu, and Kanao, Kanon, Mitsuri, Nezuko, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Uzui's family joined the proposed trip.

Ch. 516Extra 2: The first snow

As the first snow fell at the Butterfly Mansion, Teiichi and Kanae talked about traveling in the spring. Teiichi presented Kanae with a ring and asked to share her future, leaving her answer unstated.

  • Aoi Kanzaki suggested that the Butterfly Mansion residents move somewhere more active, and Shinobu Kocho said she would discuss it with her sister.
  • Kanon noticed the first snow falling, while Teiichi and Kanae watched it together in the backyard.
  • Kanae asked Teiichi when they would travel, and he suggested going in early spring after the New Year.
  • Teiichi warmed Kanae's hands, then knelt before her with a ring and asked her to make him part of her future.
