Divided Spirit
The existence of God is completely inaccessible to humans. Whether God hates or loves humans, even unintentional actions by God can have a tremendous impact on people, and this impact can even be passed down through bloodlines.
For many deities, humanity is a unified whole, and the lifespan of an individual is too short.
The Mochizuki Clan is clearly a bloody example.
The ancestral home of the Mochizuki Clan is now just a dilapidated shrine, covered in dust and with a ceiling full of dense cobwebs, exuding a lifeless atmosphere.
"If Mochizuki's bloodline is connected to a certain deity, then this must be his 'altar.' Although the mystique of this era has almost faded away, this place is still an inviolable place for him."
Bai Mo placed Chiyome in the very center of the shrine. Chiyome slightly opened her eyes; her left eye was already tinged with a faint pink, and her pupil had changed into a vertical pupil like a snake.
The crimson snake scales, like hemp rope, exuded an invisible power, causing her to groan in pain from time to time. Her clothes were soaked with fragrant sweat, like a delicate flower, making one want to protect her while also having a desire to pluck and ravage her.
Bai Mo took out the divine core from his body, held it in his hand, and rubbed it with his fingers. A golden gust of wind burst forth and tore the entire shrine roof into wood chips.
After doing all this, Bai Mo closed his eyes. He didn't know how much time had passed when dark clouds filled the sky, lightning flashed and thunder roared, and the surrounding trees rustled. It was as if a snake was swimming through the grass, but the grass that the snake was swimming through was these towering trees.
Those who can leave behind such a curse are probably not benevolent beings. Clenching his fists, Bai Mo closed his eyes and carefully sensed the presence of any hostility. If there was even the slightest hint of hostility, the Sky Explosive Fist would immediately strike the deity's head.
The wind blew by, and the forest remained silent. Bai Mo turned around and looked at the figure that appeared beside Chiyome. It was a creature with a human upper body and a snake tail, with skin like blue tiles, and an appearance like a child.
Chiyome's eyes widened suddenly, her terror and pain reaching their peak. Just looking at the person in front of her made her skin almost bleed.
"What kind of look is that? Dressed like that, you come to my territory to cause trouble, and when you see me, you just stand there and watch without making a move?"
The little girl before him emitted a childlike, sharp voice, staring at Bai Mo without showing any hostility whatsoever. Therefore, Bai Mo didn't attack, but an invisible pressure still enveloped his fists, as if he were a cowboy with his hand on a gun.
"I'm here because of the curse on the person in front of you. Lift it, and I'll leave immediately. Of course, if it comes to a fight, I'm happy to oblige."
Upon hearing this, the half-human, half-snake creature finally turned its gaze to Chiyome. Then, it surprisingly feigned surprise, cupping its fingers to its lips and saying:
"Oh dear, isn't this from Kōga? Hey, what's with all this strange stuff? It's completely fused with the soul? How could this be..."
Just as he was about to touch it, a jolt of electricity, like a flying knife, swept past, causing him to withdraw his hand.
"Although we don't know how this curse came about, if we address its source, the curse will disappear like a stream that has been cut off."
Bai Mo's words were full of warning and chill. He always assumed the worst about the actions of gods. People like Enki were ultimately a very small minority, and this god who cast curses on people didn't seem like a benevolent deity at all.
Upon hearing this, the being before them revealed a bewitching smile and said:
"You're absolutely right, the antidote for snake venom is in its blood, but looking for me won't help."
"It's best if you don't make such jokes. Judging from your expressions, it would be a huge joke if you said there was no connection."
"I'm not joking, this child's curse is indeed related to me."
I am an Ibuki-Douji, as you can see, in this day and age, I have little power left. I am a being who has transformed from a god into a demon, but the aspects symbolizing filth and impurity have been separated.
The curse's flow wasn't directed towards Yu in the present moment; otherwise, given this little girl's control over the curse, her appearance before Yu would have caused far more than just pain.
Upon hearing this, Bai Mo flicked out a drop of water. Enki's purifying power landed on Ibuki-Douji in front of him, splashing water droplets.
If a being is afflicted with various curses, it's impossible for it to have no reaction upon touching this purifying power; this is a manifestation of authority, and it doesn't lie.
Bai Mo frowned slightly. The situation was becoming rather troublesome. Although he could use Ibuki in front of him to find her flank, this process would take time, and how long Chiyome could hold out was indeed a question.
"No need to worry. Since I'm willing to appear before you, I'm naturally willing to lend you a hand and let you see my profile."
Just as Bai Mo was pondering how to get this guy to cooperate, Ibuki-Douji offered to help, which made Bai Mo somewhat suspicious.
Ibuki-Douji pointed into the distance and chuckled:
"Whether you believe it or not, He has arrived. Unlike me, He is the embodiment of calamity, and He is charging towards us in a rage."
"Huh? You're coming to kill us?"
"Yeah, it felt like I was summoned on my own. I was planning to summon it, so why did it just appear? It's really strange."
Ibuki-Douji is right. Even hundreds of miles away, Bai Mo could see that terrifying power, as large as a mountain range, with its pitch-black divine power transforming into white snakes that bared their fangs at Bai Mo.
With a flick of his finger, the Electric Current Push, combined with Enki's purifying power, created a semi-transparent light membrane on the spot. Chiyome's condition couldn't be allowed to worsen the curse. Leaving behind protective measures, Bai Mo's figure vanished instantly.
The sky seemed to be filled with surging waves, the Gale winds and towering waves threatening to devour countless lives. At this moment, everyone trembled involuntarily, their bodies betraying their minds, shaking uncontrollably.
"What is that? Is it a divine manifestation? I can't move my body at all."
"How terrifying! Have we angered the heavens, and are they here to destroy us?"
Countless people lost all power simply by seeing her form, except for special beings like Uesugi Kenshin, who emitted a halo around her, enveloping her and remaining unaffected.
"That thing actually appeared! Hōshō Tsukige, let's go!"
Kenshin was about to go when suddenly someone behind him struggled to move, seemingly trying to grab the tail of the Hōshō Tsukige. The Uesugi Clan samurai's eyes were filled with excitement as he said:
"Leader, take us with you! That's the Wrath of God! We're probably doomed anyway, at least let me see it!"
"What are you talking about?" Kenshin looked bewildered, but he wasn't the only one. Many other samurai and foot soldiers crawled on the ground, twisting their bodies as they tried to reach Kenshin, leaving a trail in the ground.
"Please, leader! Rather than lying here waiting to die, let me see with my own eyes what's killing me. That way, my life will at least be worth more than anyone else's!"
Seeing this bizarre scene, Kenshin left without looking back, leaving behind a group of people groaning on the ground.
